You'd be forgiven for thinking so seeing as pretty much every player in the world has his name in here.
It's just missing Rondon, Perez and Fraser and I reckon we're set to compete for the Carabao Cup next season! We're on our way to Wem-ber-ley!

Except Trippier can't cross these days
I still think he's a terrific crosser of the ball the problem is that he doesn't have the skillset to get himself into a position to cross if there is a player in front of him and nowadays there is always a player in front of him because they know that.

@TheChosenOne remember this? :D

Told you once before
And I won't tell you no more
Get down, get down, get down
You're a bad dog baby
But I still want you 'round

Once upon a time I drank a little wine
Was as happy as could be, happy as could be
Now I'm just like a cat on a hot tin roof
Baby what do you think you're doin' to me

Oh transfers, yeah......erm, Trippier to United. Did I mention that i'm on at 16/1? It's in to 3/1 now which tells us absolutely nothing other than I'm not the only one.

For a bit of pointless fun, players we are linked to on Skybet

Maddison 5/1
Chilwell 4/1
Bale 7/1
Wan-Bissaka 20/1
Zaha 6/1
Icardi 12/1
Dybala 14/1
Grealish 2/1
Daniel James 14/1
Perisic 1/1 :nailbiting:
Arnautovic 33/1
Sessegnon 4/7
Ryan Fraser 14/1
Douglas Costa 8/1
Che Adams 16/1
Tielemans 15/2
David Neres 12/1
Ziyech 16/1
van de Beek 6/1
Maguire 8/1
Jack Clarke 7/1
Rabiot 6/1
Meunier 8/1
Julian Brandt 10/1
Felix 16/1

How could I forget Gilbert ? He was born in Waterford City, same as me. It's about 20 miles away from here as the crow flies. Me, him and Val Doonican, plus John O'Shea ex Man Utd. The shame.

Van Beek's inclusion was funny, best wrap him in cotton wool on Weds. Don't want him getting injured.

Seems like all the best teams want a player with name "Van" - ours will be a clapped out Transit with no MOT.

I saw a stat following the Ajax match that KT gave away possession 28 times. (Runs off to check)

There are plenty options out there for squad depth, but it seems to me most of the members here want us to have the bench depth of Man City when no other team in the league has that quality on the bench.

When it comes to positions we need cover for, we need cheap players, I’ve seen a few mentioned in the past few posts who would fit the bill.

Liverpool signed Shaqiri for cover and he has done a very good job for them this season. I bet 70% of you would’ve shat the mattress if we signed him and would be complaining that we lack ambition and all that doomsday crap that gets said week in and week out. It’s honestly getting tiring to engage on this forum when it comes to transfers.

To the point, Perez and Fraser would be incredibly useful to us off the bench, and these are just two examples of affordable, attainable players that wouldn’t cost an arm and a leg. I would’ve loved Mata but he seems destined to return to Spain. They are purely there to get a job done and add something different off the bench. We need options lads.

We could then focus the bigger funds for 1st team players that we desperately need. It’s going to be a difficult maze to navigate, hopefully we end up with a good balance of cover and upgrades.
Mate. They also bought arguably the worlds best GK in Allison for 75M. That wasn't enough so then they went and got a world class CB in Van Dijk for the same price. And then another starter in Fabinho. Look at our track record of buying and we have Eriksen for, what, 15M or something? Dele at 5M. Dier at something like that as well. Then we have all the other dross at 10-20M like Janssen, N'kodou, N'jie, Stambouli etc. I could go on for the next 20 minutes. We NEED to buy at least 2-3 guaranteed starters to improve the first 11 if we seriously want to compete with City and Liverpool. Once we have done that, we could start looking at good rotation options that have actually proved themselves in the PL/England much like Shaqiri. That's why I would love Grealish, for example. And Sessegnon.

One player who is really starting to excel who we have been linked to in the past is Ayoze Perez.

Previously he has had all the running but lacked the ability to finish his chances regularly. Seems to have added that to his game.

I think he would be a fantastic back up option

This is not a list of who I want to sell, but a list of players I think the club will try to move on this summer. Probably won’t sell all of them, but it’s a lot.

Alderweireld
Tripper
Aurier
Rose
Dier
Wanyama
Eriksen
Llorente
Jansen
N’Koudou
Onomah
CCV
Edwards

Problem with Newcastle players is that Benitez still hasn’t signed a new deal and when he does it is on the condition that the Ashley invests and the tea builds. Unlike Pochs cryptic humdingers, Benitez has been so clear that if there’s no ambition then he’s off.

Is that compatible with a player who Benitez sees as valuable leaving ?

Im not sure. I think Newcastle will be a tough place to buy if Benitez signs.

I agree with this 100%, which is Exactly why I said we need a 2/3 first team players and then some cover too.

Can’t have world class players starting for us and coming off the bench, but many good options have been shot down simply because they aren’t good enough for spurs.

I remember fondly people saying the same thing about Shaqiri but he does the job for Liverpool in one of their best seasons in the last 10 years. The same could be said for Wijnaldum, Origi and Sturridge. Not world beaters, but decent options off the bench. We need a good balance of both.

If we can’t get the 1st signings out the way first, might as well as get the cover in. If we don’t make decisive moves for both options then we will be in the exact same position once the window closes. Whichever deals can be done early need to be done early.

Ok here’s my list:

Tripps - Aaron’s or wan bissaka
Wayama - Gueye
Dembele replacement - tielemans
Llorente - Ayoze Perez
Lamela - Grealish

Then if Eriksen leaves Id replace him with Zaha, who although is not like for like offers something completely different to what we have.

Sheer arrogance, home many times over the last few years did we read the line that our squad was so good it was difficult to find anyone to improve it as an excuse for lack of signings? At least we should he safe from that one this summer.

I never bought or understood that line we were given. It was just an excuse to not spend the CL money.

Couldn't agree more. But literally got mocked to fuck for mentioning him a fortnight ago.
