You have to be trained by an English club for 3 years between the ages of 15 - 21, so he doesn't count as HG in the CL.

Edit: Here is the actual UEFA wording and link to the details about it on their website.

"UEFA defines locally-trained or 'homegrown' players as those who, regardless of their nationality, have been trained by their club or by another club in the same national association for at least three years between the age of 15 and 21."

For all intents and purposes, Swansea are an English club. Otherwise they’d be play TNS, and Carmarthen Town week in week out.

I know I'm a week behind on this but when Liverpool bought Mane from Southampton he was potential, when they signed Salah they bough potential, the same with Robinson. yes they all look great and have helped lift Liverpool eventually, but it wasn't as if Liverpool bought any of them at a time they where being challenged in the market by any other top team, and Liverpool however much people hate hearing it were a sleeping giant, their history makes ours pretty poor in comparison. they also have a top coach, that arrived at the club and has totally transformed the way they play. they have also had to pay way over the odds to fit the jigsaw.

That’s down to good scouting though. Our ability to do that seems to have dropped rapidly since we bought Dele and that was Pleat, who wasn’t even an employee at the time!

Have we missed the Bus on this signing already? I remember when his name started being bandied about it was around November. Should have done a deal in January and got him tied up and sent back on loan to Swansea.

We lead to believe that we dont have the financial resources of the other top 5 clubs, therefore we have to work smarter and differently and strike early deals on such talent.

Dont we have a player on loan at Swansea? Would we not have been checking his progress?

I would love to see us become the Ajax of the PL. We have a brilliant coaching team and we all as fans agree we don't want to BUY trophies, so buy the "right" talent early after proper scouting.

Maybe his agent has told him to wait till the summer for more money if he keeps performing well. (This applies to all teams in for him)

True but then Ben Davies doesn't count as a HG player so in the eyes of the law they clearly aren't and English club.

In the eyes of UEFA, they are not (hence me specifying CL as he would count as HG in the PL), its the exact situation as Ben Davies, where he counts as HG in the PL but not in the CL squad list.

Not according to UEFA themselves...

Are you not aware Davies doesn't count as home grown, due to the fact he came through the ranks of Swansea?

"Davies counts as homegrown in the Premier League but not in Uefa competition, where association-trained players must have been “registered with a club or with other clubs affiliated to the same association as that of his current club for a period, continuous or not, of three entire seasons or of 36 months” between the ages of 15 and 21. Davies served his apprenticeship at Swansea City and they come under the Football Association of Wales rather than the English FA. And yet, as Pochettino can ruefully point out, Swansea play in the English league."

I’m not saying I’m not aware, I’m saying that Swansea are an English club in the eyes of uefa. So if they are now saying Davies can’t count as home grown, then Spurs lawyers should be on it like a rash, so should Swansea, Cardiff and the other three “exile” clubs.

If Swansea and Cardiff qualifies for European competition, would they have to make up their HG quote from English FA or Welsh FA produced players? And if the answer is the former, then what happens to their club produced HG players?

If ManUtd are willing to pay £40M I would sell him and use the money on Wan-Bissaka - if he'd not cost more than £40-45M.
And I'd even sell Aurier around around £20-25M and use KWP and Foyth as RB back-ups.

https://metro.co.uk/2019/04/20/tott...ester-united-to-sign-kieran-trippier-9279010/

Would be an awesome sale. Bizarre as ole interveiw after the win where we peppered their goal claimed to target trippier. Or maybe the high full back tactic? However in the trippier thread a while back it was claimed he purchased a house in Manchester and was hinted he would be off. Would. Love is targeting him rather than the other way around.

Bissaka the one.

Not going to claim it as ITK because 1, it's against site rules. And 2, people just slag it off anyway & I'm in no mood/place to be involved in arguments or pettiness. I trust this fella & he's been proven to be spot on in the past (especially about stadium info).... Either way, it's just a mate passing on what he's heard & hopefully there's nothing wrong with discussing it.

Eriksen and possibly Toby signing a new deal.
Toby wants to stay, it's down to Poch.

My pal is in business with Lallana doing a hair care range, talks have gone on between Spurs and Lallana.

Maddison is a no go, Grealish if Villa fail to come up, Sessegnon and Andre Gomes too.

Leaves a 3rd choice keeper and back up striker.

Wanyama (if remains fit) will stay, as will Sissoko and Dier.

Up to 6 in this summer.

I asked him where he got the info from because of that Bannerman bullshit merchant on Twitter said something extremely similar recently & I don't trust/believe him. The response was...

It's from my pal who I play football with regarding Lallana.
He flies out with lallana everywhere Liverpool goes.
Lallana wants to come back down south.
All his business interests are down here too.

Regarding the others I called Eriksen the other night before anyone else, including Bannerman tweeted.

I quizzed him about the targets and he said.......

The targets, I got from a finance contact at the club.
The same one that told me about the NFL and Nike in 2014 (which you've already seen screenshots of)
.

I can say that all of the info from 2014 was absolutely on the money (despite almost everyone saying at the time there would be no NFL or link with Nike).
I hope he is wrong about Lallana, he is 31 in May and has a shocking injury record in the last couple of years, considering we have both injury problems and difficulties getting rid of deadwood, it's an odd move.

Napoli supposedly sniffing around as well. Would like some bargaining leverage with Diawara personally.

Well, I should have been more clear, I mean replace him with Wan-Bissaka.
Thing is, if ManUtd go for Trippier that leaves Spurs as the only top club left competing for him - unless Arsenal feel a new RB is a strong need.

Wingers had a very different output back in the 4-4-2 days when there were two centre forwards expected to score the goals. Zaha has basically been playing up front for Palace the last two seasons.

I'm not sure I'd buy that argument. Giggs was playing in a much better side, a much more attacking side, and probably playing worse sides for much of his career.
And Zaha's been playing there because they had no strikers. His preferred position is out wide and he seems much more likely to score coming off the wing than playing up front.
Anyway I'm not convinced that we need him because Son and Moura seem to have that area covered. If we had other areas of the team covered I'd love to see us go for him, but we have more pressing needs elsewhere.

I agree. I personally like Lallana & could see the sense in him being a more diverse option than Janssen. Especially as Poch already knows that he's a player who will buy into his ethos & fit within his system.

But as you say, his injury record is rather concerning.

99% of me wants Lallana nowhere near our club. Terrible signing given his age and injury record.

1% of me would like him to be our only signing as we again finish third and go on a great CL run. Maybe he could score the winning goal in the FA cup final too. That would be grand.
