IMO we need a HG third Keeper. Butland or Pope would be good but I doubt number 3 is where they see themselves.
We need attainable players who we can get deals done early so on that list I'd put as plausible;
Sessegnon, Mitrovic
Diawara
Brandt
Berge
Lascelles/ Longstaff
Grealish
Clarke

I'd be happy with any of those.

Of course we won't sign all of that lot but I'd say they were realistic targets for us and there are doubtless plenty of others. We could probably do one marquee signing. If we lose Eriksen I think Ziyech would be good, as would Werner. Wan Bissaka will become a great player and Poch could probably get a lot more out of him. Brookes likewise has masses of potential.

Completely forgot about Longstaff. He would be worth a shot if you ask me. Homegrown, young, Two footed and composed on the ball. A good passing range and an engine for box to box play.

He has good technique and oodles of energy in the tank. Could adapt to Poch's high press quite easily if we signed him as he has the stamina for it.

My only issue is he is relatively inexperienced at a top level but even in the few games before his injury he held his own, especially against City. Not a world beater by any means, but one for the future.

Longstaff is at the same development stage as Maddison a while back. Could go either way but it's a punt I'd be very happy for us to take.

Grealish, Bentaleb, Longstaff, Zaha, Rice and a switch to a 4-1-4-1 or 4-1-3-2 formation again weaker opposition and 4-2-3-1 against the tougher bunch

No denying Sissokos improved performances has probably saved us monumental embarisment this season, but I much prefer watching Winks+Dier than Winks+Sissoko because Winks losses his freedom to be more creative next to Sissoko.

Ideally we need Wanyama replacement to free up Winks from the deeper roll and add a big name player to replace Dembele. Leaving us with plenty of options especially if Poch wants to play a midfield 3 becasue for me Dele and Eriksen in that 3 are wasting their best talents.

I disagree I think winks plays better as a DLP when he has played further forward he has generally not been as good imo

I would argue that "what Sissoko does best" isn't really needed if we have some actual quality CMs who can pass and control the ball reliably and usefully. The only reason he's played so much in CM this season is because of circumstance, not because he's great there.

I recognize the improvement however and think he deserves to be in the mix.

What about when we don’t have the ball? Who is going to win it back?
Gonna have to find some player who can play like Eriksen and be as strong ,athletic and quick as sissoko and be in our price range ?

No we just need a reliable DM who's good on the ball. Wanyama's fucked which is a shame.

Perez or Rondon could be Llorente replacements, both of them can run about a bit more.

Really like rondon absolute battering ram of a striker and would be a good player from the bench but I’m not sure we would play to his strength like LLorente

Can we afford to clear out half our squad? I understand Toby and Eriksen will be difficult situations due to contracts but other than that, I don't see how we can afford to have a massive overhaul.

Vorm - Makes sense, not playing, 3rd choice now and we can bring in a younger goalkeeper.
Aurier - More likely to go than Trippier
Nkoudou - Will anyone take him?
Janssen - See above
Wanyama - See above, plagued with injury these days, shame because that first season with us he was immense
Llorente - Contract expiring

4 of those have barely played a game between them but Llorente, Aurier, Toby and Janssen all have a lot of minutes this season. So already that is 4 players we would need to replace on top of a world class CM or 2. We can't even complete 1 deal, so how the hell will we get 5/6 over the line

I don't see the point of Longstaff when we have Skipp

I don't see Longstaff as anything special yet. Decent enough, but as you say not worth the money it would take to block a path for the likes of Skipp. Plus, he's a homegrown boy and the Geordies have waited awhile for a good youth product so he won't be sold cheap without the fans kicking off.

Why did the muppet sign a new contract then?

Probably felt that he owed it to the club he's spent the last 10 years at to sign his first professional contract with them and at least ensure they get a decent fee for him. It's a perfectly understandable and decent thing to do.

There is no excuse this summer.

Absolutely. We really need to start doing our business early.

If it’s true, for example, that we’re going for the likes of Sessegnon, Mitrovic or even Billing now Fulham and Huddersfield are relegated, we should be working on that now with a view to them joining when the window opens.

We can’t afford another window of pissing around.
