Poch has taken us as far as he can with this current squad of players and financial restrictions. Our current level is challenging for top 4 with the next level being winning cups/titles.

If bean counter (Levy) loosened the purse strings, can Poch lead us to glory? I think he can but he does have some glaring weaknesses (tactics & identifying players) which he does need to urgently address. There is no question that he is the best in the world at improving players.

I'm glad with the comments he made yesterday because the whole club from Lewis/Levy, to Poch and the players, need to look at themselves and really decide what they want. If Lewis/Levy aren't going to spend then I really hope they sell up and find someone who will. They would have to be realistic with their valuation though but I think they will be too greedy.

Lewis/Levy have owned us for 2 years longer than Abramovich has Chelsea, yet all we've won in that time is a League Cup whereas they've won 14 trophies. I hate Chelsea but that says it all about our owners intentions. Profit before players.

when Abramovic took over Chelsea were at the top end and competing they won 5-6 trophies under Harding, and in serious debt. at the time of taking over there wasn't any of this FFP, and in those 2 years less Abramovic has spent near on double what ENIC have spent, in transfers with a stadium that was bigger than WHL. due to the early success and spending power, every time they sell a player that get a massive lump in, plus because of what he did, they become a big club around the world, have a fortune coming in through sponsorship and are sitting on a fortune with 40 players in their academy.

when ENIC took over we was a mid table team, full of senior players that's value wasn't worth enough. yes Lewis is very rich, but he also has loads of companies, ENIC themselves couldn't of thrown the money at it from the start, or we could of at the time gone down the Leeds route

I think MP has fat chance of any big money being spent in the near future.
The way the club was run changed when Redknapp was given the boot - Levy spent a fortune on the academy and wants it to produce a premiership player every year to pay for its upkeep.

“If you don’t win anything, you have had a bad season.”

“Spurs have got to be the best in the land, not the second best"

Says it all really.....(y)

Who said this?

The best in the premiership at the moment is man city...how much have they spent?

Tottenham have been punching above there weight for such a long time other teams are catching up by spending money.

Look through all the European leagues, the teams that win those leagues are the ones spending the most money. Its a sorry state of affairs and all Spurs fans need to recognise it time to spend (not crazy putting us in debt however we need that investment )

Ah, this seems a better thread to use seeing the last couple of posts...........

This is as good as it gets. The stage is almost set. Time for Willow to get the final pieces of the jigsaw in place and sell the club while the legacy is good. Sell the club to someone who will take the club to the next level by spending some money because if it isn't obvious by now it never will be.
or
If you're satisfied with how things are now, if 'being careful what you wish for' is how you want to roll then stop complaining and accept that challenging for and occasionally getting a top 4 finish is our lot in life.

It's divisive, but it seems as obvious as Phil Thompson's nose there's only one way of taking that final step.

Well what concerns me is all the right elements are getting into place to spin all of this onto Poch in the same fashion that it was with Harry.

No longer fussed if he is off in the Summer. The last month of football bar the second half against Dortmund has been fucking utter rubbish.

Fuck all point making points via the media if the squad keeps going out and turning in performances like yesterdays second half.

& if Spurs fans don't stop fucking living in the past, we'll never move on. It's the past for a reason and another reason why we get laughed at so fucking often. Get off the fucking ark.

He seemed very insistent on telling everyone how shit we actually are ("battle for 4th is our real level"), but how much of our pretty poor succession planning in the last couple of seasons is down to him?

The issues with Wanyama, Rose and Dembele couldnt have been surprising for the club, seeing as most fans saw them coming a mile off? A big summer ahead, and not in terms of keeping pace with Liverpool and Man City, it'll be a big summer just in terms of starting to address issues that we should have been looking at even in the summer of 2017.

If Poch doesn't get Top 4 this season, I believe that Levy will sack him.

Whether or not that is fair, is another question, but I wouldn't be shocked if it happened.

Yeah, to compete for the league you have to put your hand in your pocket. Levy's been a complete joke in this area over the last 10 seasons.

But it's also frustrating that even with the resources we've got, we're not using them properly. I mean, NO player signings this summer (or winter)?? Pull the other one!! What are our scouting team doing and/or why doesn't Poch rate any of their suggestions?

And finally, the players need to take a long hard look at themselves too. They've always failed when the REAL pressure is on.

Very frustrating, because I think we all know how this season's story will end...

If that final step involves selling our soul to some barbaric regime like City have, then I’d honestly rather the club went bust.

Sorry what is your point.

Will you agree Poch has done a tremendous job under such testing circumstances i.e No preseason due to the world cup. No signings all season. All teams have injuries but we've had more than our fair share. Playing at Wembley. No real home advantage.

We are in the hunt to finish in the top 4. We are in the QF of the CL.

He's part of the problem.

He's made some mistakes in recent weeks, I'll give that but for me I feel like he wasn't backed in the summer in my opinion. then has had to navigate the stadium fiasco and I feel like everything that people were worried about would happen in the summer is now coming to fruition and now he has dissenters. I absolutely don't want him to leave no matter what happens because I believe he deserves the opportunity to be backed and playing at our actual ground.
