It really should not apply here...

Kane was fouled while attempting to play the ball. In fact, if he was not attempting to play the ball, the shove probably would not have been called...

No playing the ball means either actively going to header the ball or attempting to kick it. This was brought up when Lovren miskicked it in the 2-2 last season against us.

While he is making the run, I'm not sure he is attempting to play the ball until he jumps or throws a leg at the ball.
It's why some linemen wait so long to call an offside as I'm sure that's what the rules state

Right but that's not what he said.

No, that’s true. But there were people who defended the club’s decision not to sign anyone (very few I grant you). It usually came down to ‘you don’t know what’s going on behind the scenes, it’s harder to sign players than you think’, which is of course a total cop-out.

I do agree if there was any moment where we can objectively say, we were fucked by lack of activity, it was when Danny Rose went to DM

You must be joking. Kane is bang on, we might not of been great but we were better than them.

The negativity surrounding us is obscene. Not just from the fans. The commentary was so derogatory, there was almost no mention of how Arsenal were playing with 9/10 behind the ball the entire game. We were terrible but the image they were projecting was false.

Plus the constant take down fouls. Just like the old Arsenal.

Right but he is not fouled until he jumps.

Once he jumps he is attempting to play the ball.

Yeah exactly, we didn't play well but still dominated them.

Was bitterly disappointed with Eriksen though, not sure what's going on there.

But that point is massive, absolutely massive. So important we didn't lose.

So another week to get Kane fitter and Dele back soon hopefully, and we can go again.

I also think a young attacking talent to bring off the bench would do us the world of good. There’s no guarantee it would work out, but you need to give it a go. It should never have been Martial or bust.

He's 22 maybe 23 so still learning & i'd say he probably had to go near aubamayang at the end rather than just let him control the ball & have a shot. Wasn't a foul Sanchez did the right thing & not much he could do about the standard of refing

I get that he's young but he's so rash making decisions to tackle. He's our worst CB with the ball at his feet too. He's not good enough yet in my opinion. He played a lot last season because of injuries but he cost us today and he'll cost us again

Ours was no less a penalty than theirs anyway. We just scored ours. Arsenal were very defensive today but did look dangerous on the counter. The trouble is we had a lineup more suitable to counter attacking ourselves. I know Dier divides opinion but we could sure use him when Winks is out. We badly missed a passer in the middle of midfield. The long balls were hard to watch.

You're right in saying that he played a lot last season due to injuries but you neglect to mention that, in general, he played exceptionally well across the season. It's been harder for him this season as he's been in and out of the team. In fact, constant rotation of the defence (even when not forced) has been the root of the whole team's problems this season.

I'm fairly certain Dier and Winks will be our first choice midfield going forward.

Just rewatching the "highlights" of the match, and I'm sorry, but Sanchez's mistake on the first Arsenal goal is as slack and pathetic as anything we've screamed at Trippier about this season. Shocking.
