I take solace in that there isn't really anything that can or could be done (within reasonability) as building stuff is building stuff. it's not through a lack of effort or anything. it's done when it's done, and it's open when it's done.

*not accounting for project management etc or safety tests - I mean like there is a list of things to complete, and they take a set amount of time.

Levy’s ruining this club, what with this pathetic shiney new stadium (that incidentally will not be built - he’s conning you!) and the ‘so called’ world class training facilities, pffft, how is that going to help us grow talent for the future.... yep, worse thing to happen to this club.

As for the delays, the nah-sayers on here are right. In all the photos and live-cams have you EVER seen the board doning hard hats and holding trowels? No? Thought not. They are a disgrace to the badge. We would have moved in already, we’re it not for their bone-idleness.

Well you don’t need to be so sarcastic. This is a serious message board

Anybody who genuinely believes the club have been disingenuous with information in a ploy to sell enough season tickets lacks a fundamental understanding of the very stringent regulations imposed on FCA regulated companies and the severity of the fines involved in instances of fraudulent information surrounding financial transactions.

Doubt they would go that far but there was also no way it was going to be ready for Liverpool. That seemed pretty obvious as I walked past every morning.

I'll tell you now, the first game at the new stadium will likely be in the first two weeks of April. That's because my wife's expecting our first baby on the 12th, and I won't be able to bloody go (to the stadium, I probably ought to attend the birth)!

I don't want to be the one to tell you to go to the match but you can always have a 2nd kid.

And this, for me, is the primary issue.

I can perfectly understand some fans' frustrations with the ticketing specifically and with the stadium more widely, but I would have thought the original fault lies with MACE. Or am I being barmy?

Re the costs, I would imagine there would be penalty clauses in the contract if MACE fail to deliver...? Any large project managers / contractors out there that can confirm if that's standard practice?

Yes. There's other factors too but Mace will be the most at risk of penalties.

Not surprising. I'm not setting any expectations now. We'll be in when we're in.

Rumours in November were March, last article in the Sun said Newcastle or Leicester in February and also mentioned Palace in March. Palace it is then maybe?

Take it that's any slim transfer window hopes fucked?

  • There was always a risk that the stadium wouldn't be ready on time for the start of the season. Everyone knew that was a risk they were taking when they bought the ST
While this is true, the club should have also realised this and not gone in hard and charged ST holders new stadium prices.

They should have kept the price the same as last season because of the risk of the stadium being delivered late and informed ST holders that there would be an increase next season to reflect the fully operational new stadium.

If there was no way it was going to be ready, it would render the information that it would be ready as being disingenuous. That would be a potential prison sentence.

If the club said ready for Liverpool, the club believed it.

At what point do they just announce the rest of the seasons being played at Wembley? I mean, how ridiculous is it gonna be, if they're still giving these updates in March, April, 2 weeks before the season ends, announcing the next 3 games are being played at Wembley.

How ridiculous would it look if they announced Wembley for the rest of the season then in Mid March you stop seeing any work being done at the stadium bc it's done and it's sitting empty unused for 2 months?

I suspect there is enough work that can be done to last through the summer...not all of it needs to be done to open the stadium, but I doubt we will see it sitting idle.

There's a big difference between done and ready. It may have been ready for Liverpool if the safety systems weren't such a disaster, just not completed with the veil and outside work, etc. Once they announced the first delay they definitely decided they were going to take their time in completing the cosmetic stuff.

You would also hope that Spurs opt out of the US-based International Champions Cup that we have participated in the last two summers - and schedule more pre-season matches at the new stadium instead...
