Scouse watch:

Liverpool started with a weak team for the FA Cup tie against Wolves today. Salah and Firmino came on when they were 2-1 down but they still lost.

I was praying for them to field a strong team with an injury or four to Salah, Firmino, Mane and VVD, then a red card for Robertson but to draw the game so there's a replay. Obviously none of this happened.

Looks like they are prioritising the league and they're only in 2 competitions whereas we're still in all 4. At least one less rival left in the FA Cup and they lose their 2nd game in a row, albeit in different competitions.

Lovren injured! Was VVD rested completely?

Hopefully this is the start of a difficult period for them injury wise

Get fucked, Liverpool wankrags- the double is over for you

the thing is, them getting to the quarters and having 3 replays would of been more suitable. more stress on the squad equals more possible injuries. now for the next 2 rounds they can put their feet up and turn up fresh, though the next round is followed up with a set of midweek matches in which their ops will of had the weekend off too. the round after that they are due to play Man U

yep, he never played or on the bench

he is on 4 yellows but not sure when the rule comes in on it going from 5-10. I think he has escaped the 5th booking suspension now

The quad is still on.

It's too many
Fa cup has just become the most realistic in my eyes
League distant faint second
Cl stuff of dreams
Cows piss cup I hate and think if we progress it will derail our season too early for a cup final and the 2 leg semi is silly in today's football.

I’m not sure going out the FA cup is that wise. Carabo early I can understand. But Liverpool will have some periods with 2 weeks without a game. Really not so sure that’s a benefit. A lot of players prefer being in a rhythm. We’ve seen with lots of our players they play better when they get in a flow.

All part of Bin dippers plan. Prioritising the league like Leicester City did.
It comes with great risk though.

Leicester were not expected to win any cup, therefore they could get away with not giving a hoot about it and there would have been no backlash at all if they failed to win the title. There was no pressure on them to actually go ahead and win the league either, not at any point did they feel heat, they had momentum and were enjoying the ride.

Liverpool are in a different situation. They have passed up on a couple of opportunities to win trophies and as they are a big club who hasn't won one for a while there is a level of expectancy, even if their fans tell you otherwise. This means that they have heaped more pressure and expectancy on lifting the title now, fail to do that and fail to win the CL and people will rightly start to get on Klopp's back about spending and not winning anything. If they lose another game the pressure levels will ramp up considerably, their players won't be able to enjoy the journey as much as the Leicester team because they have more resting on their shoulders.

They could of course win their upcoming games, extend their lead, ease the pressure and then go on to win the title and all will be forgotten but there is certainly a huge element of risk when picking and choosing trophies.

Not sure if anyone else will find this interesting, but I did (considering Lovren's recent fate-tempting comments about going unbeaten all season).

Liverpool have now lost 6 games in all competitions this season (1 in league, 3 in UCL, 1 Carabao Cup, 1 FA Cup)
That's only 1 fewer than ourselves (5 in league, 2 in UCL)
Thats 1 more than Arsenal, who have lost 5 in all comps (4 league, 1 Carabao Cup)
Thats 2 more than City, who have lost 4 in all comps (3 league, 1 UCL)
Thats 3 more than Chelsea (3 league defeats only - undefeated in cups and Europa)

Those figures are obviously a bit distorted by Arsenal and Chelsea being in the Europa League this season (especially as half of Liverpool's defeats came in the Champions League), but it does suggest that Liverpool are more beatable than many (including me) had believed. The caveat to that is 4 of Liverpool's defeats have come away to PSG, Napoli, City and at home to Chelsea (Carabao Cup) - they don't have many Premier League games left against opposition of that caliber.
