Just found this somewhere else on the interweb, dunno if it has been discussed on here already, but wow :

Manchester City's Cup draws this season

EFL Cup
Oxford (A)
Fulham (H)
Leicester (A)
Burton (H&A)

FA Cup
Rotherham (H)
Burnley (H)

Champions League
Lyon
Hoffenheim
Shaktar
Donetsk

Schalke

The best team in that whole lot is probably fucking Lyon, meanwhile we're facing Barca, Inter, Dortmund, Chelsea, Arsenal, Watford, West Ham (ok they're shit...)

I'm not one to believe in conspiracies, so that's probably just pure luck, but either way it's doing my fucking head in.

Sorry had to share. Have a good day

Partly luck, partly the fact they were seeded 1st for the Champions League sicne they won the PL last season meaning they couldn't have drawn Barcelona, and then won their group meaning they were seeded again for the knockouts hence getting Schalke.

Not sure if anyone else will find this interesting, but I did (considering Lovren's recent fate-tempting comments about going unbeaten all season).

Liverpool have now lost 6 games in all competitions this season (1 in league, 3 in UCL, 1 Carabao Cup, 1 FA Cup)
That's only 1 fewer than ourselves (5 in league, 2 in UCL)
Thats 1 more than Arsenal, who have lost 5 in all comps (4 league, 1 Carabao Cup)
Thats 2 more than City, who have lost 4 in all comps (3 league, 1 UCL)
Thats 3 more than Chelsea (3 league defeats only - undefeated in cups and Europa)

Those figures are obviously a bit distorted by Arsenal and Chelsea being in the Europa League this season (especially as half of Liverpool's defeats came in the Champions League), but it does suggest that Liverpool are more beatable than many (including me) had believed. The caveat to that is 4 of Liverpool's defeats have come away to PSG, Napoli, City and at home to Chelsea (Carabao Cup) - they don't have many Premier League games left against opposition of that caliber.

I’m not sure if your post is good news or bad news! ?

True mate. Although even as 1st seed, they could have ended up with Napoli, Dortmund, Valencia or Inter in their group... And even as first of their group, they could have been drawn against Atlético or Roma in the round of 16, for example.

Let's say they did what's right to be in that position, but still it feels like everything is going their way in every draw. That's life I guess.

IMHO when people are constantly saying you can't do something, and you don't for few years you, start to believe in it. Media do not believe in us because we haven't won anything in years. Our players can start to think similar about themselves. We have to win something, even stupid Carabao Cup to give our team/club taste of glory so they believe they are winners.

A bit tough though, west ham, arsenal, Chelsea, city. 3 fucking derbys and then play the best team in the league. We should be given the fa cup as well if we win it after that run.

Yep. There have been times though where we've had similar luck but failed to make the most of it. The 16-17 Europa springs to mind - it would have been our biggest trophy for a generation, and the run would have been Gent-Genk-Celta Vigo-Man Utd-Ajax. Only one big team the whole way and that was a United team under LVG who finished four places and 17 points below us. But we didn't take it seriously and fucked it up at the first hurdle. The year before that in the FA Cup our run would have been Leicester-Colchester-Crystal Palace-Reading-Watford-Man Utd. But yet again we decided we didn't care about it, put out a weakened team at home to Palace, and pretty disgracefully lost. Sometimes you get lucky with a draw and sometimes you don't, that's the nature of the cups. But the teams who do well are those who take them at least fairly seriously, don't mess up against smaller teams, and can therefore take advantage when their luck turns out to be in. If we start/keep doing that then our luck will be in at some point.

I agree with this although in City’s case they have been been so financially doped that they can afford two top players for each position meaning a tie against a lesser side is so easy to overcome with the second string.
In the cases where we got knocked out, we took these fixtures just as seriously as City would do, by playing reserves/fringe players etc
Difference is they spend so much money, their reserve/fringe player is top class and cost a fucking fortune!

Part of me would find it very amusing if they crashed and burned as a club at some point in the future, or perhaps their owners ‘crashed and burned’ ( not literally of course although they are absolute vermin ) instead!

Quite amusing talk from Klop. Bemoaning his three injured centre halves...and saying he looked at the Spurs bench on Tues with a full, full squad. Obviously missed our five injuries incl two centre halves and a bunch of boys on the bench.

He knows with the money spent and his farcical selection against Wolves he has to deliver, what better way to deflect and point at a team below them in the league, push the pressure somewhere else.

Klopp 2016: 'If you bring one player in for £100m and he gets injured, then it all goes through the chimney. The day that this is football, I'm not in a job anymore, because the game is about playing together...Other clubs can go out and spend more money and collect top players. I want to do it differently. I would even do it differently if I could spend that money.'...

Jan 2018 Southampton centre-back Virgil van Dijk joins Liverpool in a world record £75m deal for a defender.

July 2018 Liverpool sign Allison in a world record £67m deal for a goalkeeper.

He said all that?!

He has gone way down in my estimation.

Way down, indeed.

Cy-klopps. Also, incredibly sensitive to wind strength, grass length, pesky rivals with their trivial concerns, and all things that may slightly perturb the critical feng shui of his red heroes' march toward their destined glory.

Don’t forget what he said when it was mentioned that he was being hypocritical after spending all that money last summer...

"That’s the problem these days, you say something and whatever bullshit you say, nobody will forget it!" Klopp said, via This Is Anfield.

"I could not imagine that the world would change like that – two and a half years ago, £100 million was crazy money, since then the world obviously changed since then.

"In this moment we signed the world’s most expensive goalkeeper; there will be a few, nice transfers in this window still. It will happen a lot.

"My responsibility is for this club to be as successful as possible. It is not for me to push through my thoughts about that and say ‘no, I don’t want to pay big money’ (because) in the end if Liverpool FC is not successful it doesn’t work.

"We have a really good team, a really good squad, to improve a squad like this is expensive, because to find better players than we already have; they are not waiting around the corner.

"When we are convinced about it (signing a player), then our ownership believes that much in the project that they say ‘ok, let’s do it.’ And I really think it is a really good year for us; very good squad.

"We don’t care about what the world around is thinking. Like Man United didn’t care what I had to say about it (Pogba).

"It’s only an opinion in that moment. Did I change my opinion? Yes. That’s true. It’s better to change an opinion than to never have one."

So basically he said something about Man U and it turned out to be hypocritical shit because as soon as he could do it himself, he did. Twat.
