To be fair I think we could send this one to Bletchley Park and they'd come back with confused looks on their faces.

So, we have to be prepared to eat the entire transfer fee - and it will still be a big fee. Certainly you would hope that a Bale deal raises the profile of the club - in terms of sponsorship money (and even TV money, we are last among the bog-6 in TV appearances...). But, I am pretty sure this will be the biggest transfer fee paid without being able to recover some/most of it later in a player's career.

Even Real Madrid are looking to recoup their investment...
