I'm sticking my neck out and saying that if we beat City next weekend we will finish above them. This City side as it is playing now looks the best bet to finish 6th. We need to reinforce that on Saturday.

Honestly, I thought Everton would give City a game because I said before and I keep saying that City are the most vulnerable team in the top 6 and they have a soft centre and IMO will struggle to qualify for the top four. It's had to see where the other teams will drop points though.

I don't think Pep will make it to the end of next season and I'm not sure he'll carry on after that.
Other than PSG, who else is there to swan into and walk the league? Celtic? :ROFLMAO:

They certainly won't sack him, it's whether he'll leave that's the question.

I think they'll back him until he fails to be competitive again next season.
Hopefully they'll spunk a few hundred million on shite and be stuck with it after he's gone too.

Well if they do sack him or if he does leave then that's another year/two years of transition for them which would be pretty harmful, as such now we are now entering a period in the Prem where your preparation needs to be spot on as there are now too many good teams/managers in this league especially amongst the to 6, no more room for complacency which is what has got Man City into this mess in the first place.

Winning against City is no longer the goal. It's the expectation.

We are playing well but lets not get ahead of ourselves. This post is very Rawk like. We dont want to be like those guys. No offence intended.

I'd be very happy with a draw.

I had a patient suffering from cancer in his late 20s only a couple of years older than me. He is a wrestling coach for a local high school. Before he was the coach there, this wrestling team had never won anything. Ever. Last year they won their regionals and finished second in the state for their division. Now they are a perennial power in wrestling. He has completely changed the mentality of their wrestling program. That quote was one of his wrestlers most memorable quotes they heard their coach say that season. That saying will stay in my head forever.

Every great team needs a little swagger, a little confidence. We have owned City the last three fixtures (8-2 aggregate) after they laid down absolute ass whoopings on us the fixtures before. It is time, as @Shadydan has said, that the fans' mentalities changed a little bit. We shouldn't be happy with a draw. We should be rightfully disappointed if we draw City. We are a great team, they are not (as evidenced by 4-0 to Everton), and they are the exact same team we have beaten 3 times in a row. Let's go at them.

Apart from the fact the first 2 wins out of the 3 were against a team managed by someone else with different players :ROFLMAO:

That doesn't mean they're better now though. There's no Joe Hart to have a once a season worldy against us :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

How many players are different than the first two times?

Man city will not sack Pep ever. I think he would walk before being pushed.

I think he will come good though but needs to take a long hard look at himself in the damn mirror.

I'm going to be shut here but I'm dreading Saturday as I think they will win and kick start there season. The worst thing that could have happened is the uproar from last Sunday. They're going to come out all guns blazing.

We will definitely have to score first if we are to win,

Bravo, Otamendi, Stones, Nolito, Sane, Gundogan. Think that covers it?
Based on the starting line-up from last season at the Etihad against spurs there's not much difference in the team city put out last weekend against Everton, and if anything the line-up from last weekend is weaker than team we played last season.

I love this thread.....I just love that it exists at all and two seasons running too.

It was only 18 months ago that I thought the summit of our realistic ambitions was making top 4.

7 point gap in april - no chance

7 point gap in January - well, lets just see.

Even if we win on Sunday I'd still put our title hopes as minimal. Once the European games kick in I'd expect our form to dip and that is where Chelsea (and Liverpool) will have an advantage over us. It's easy to get carried away when we're on a good run but it will eventually end just like our bad run in October/November did.

The problem is we ALWAYS lose games like the one on the weekend. ALWAYS. We never ever kick a big team when they're down, we instead crumble under the backlash and kickstart their season. If we could somehow win that one it would be huge, not only in terms of points, not only in terms of psychology, but also because City themselves would be 13 points off the pace (assuming Chelsea beat Hull at home) and Pep may then start to prioritise the Champions League and FA Cup instead, giving us an edge on them in the race for the top 4 spots.

We should be winning City away simply because of the state of their XI. They have a unreliable GK (who could be changed) and a makeshift CM. I mean Yaya Zabaletta in CM vs Wanyama Dembele. No match there.
Only X factor for them could be inclusion of Brazil no9 Gabriel Jesus who is tipped for stardom.

In any case XI v XI we should beat them. It's really down to can we stick to our game plan & execute them.

If they are so shit and we are so amazing, how come we are only 3 points ahead of them? I understand fans being quietly confident, but all this talk of "should beat them" and "expect to win" is asking to be slapped down. We were "expected" to put Utd in their place recently and "should have turned them over comfortably" etc according to many on here, but we ended up putting in a limp performance and bar one glaring miss from Wanyama did sod all.

I know we are in far better form now and I'm confident that if we play well we can beat them, but there is way too much overconfidence in this thread.

As for Gabriel Jesus being their only X-Factor, you do realise they still have in most peoples opinions the best CF in the league (and one of the best in the world) who has also scored more goals against us than any other team? Yes, I know we are a different animal these days, but people are dismissing City far too easily.

Yaya is still more than capable of pulling out a world class performance. If he decides to turn up he xould be unplayable, even for Dembele and Wanyama. A bit like Pogba a few weeks back who absolutely bossed those two.

Aguero, De Bruyne, Silva and Sterling are also incredibly dangerous as well and could easily score a hatful, our defensive record notwithstanding. Their defence is obviously shit and I back us to score, but they could easily score more than us with the talent in their forward players.

I think you'll find we beat city at the etihad the weekend after they lost 3-1 at home to Leicester.
