To be totally honest, I don't care if he goes to Dortmund, the fact he's turned down Liverpool and is still considering us is music to my ears :joyful::D

What's stopping him running beyond the striker and getting goals from a deeper CM position rather than a no.10?

Lampard and Gerrard were both very prolific doing this as CM's in the EPL

It does seem to me that he's a more natural box to box CM than he is a number 10 and I also expect him to end up there
Time will tell but I think he'll become a striker. Dare I say there's a bit of Henry about him. Besides Gerrard is a different type of player to Alli. He would find it difficult to be involved in the attack if he drops deep. He certainly won't be getting on the end of the diagonal and through balls from deep.

Think I saw someone mention that Lewis is actually kind of reliable whereas the Mirror is diarrhea

Lot of people seem to forget how he and Dier played together when Alli was first put into the lineup. Short memories.
It's not that I said he can't play there. I'm simply saying that one of our best players from last season should not be moved to a rotational role with Dembele. He should continue in the role that he did so well in and continue his development there. Maybe when he does develop he could move in there. However we're getting a bit ahead of ourselves. As for the short memory remark, well a shorter memory is to forget how good he did for most of the season.

The story about him deciding to stay at Bayern raises questions; he says he has decided to stay but will Bayern want him to? what if they don't want to offer him a new contract will they want him to stay but then walk away on a Bosman next year? If they do want to offer him a new contract will it be on the same or better terms and will he even want to sign one? Given that he apparently said he wants to take a chance with the new coach will he want first team football before he commits to a new contract?
Still loads of loose ends.

So we should never bring in players who may be good enough to compete (or even better) with what we have just because we don't want to stunt growth?

Say what? I'm talking about moving Alli further back. There should always be competition for places whether we sign more players or not.

We lost the league last year because we couldn´t kill matches when we dominated against weaker teams.

It just makes sense to bring in Janssen (we can play with two real strikers) and an AM who can create havoc. Götze might or might not happen, I´m just happy that our management seems to take care of our main problem.

Realistically we can´t improve any of the back six (Lloris, Walker, Toby, Vert, Rose, Dier), we need more flair and options to get the ball in the net

Oh I don't dispute that other Prem teams spend far more in wages than we do. That however does not mean we are unable to pay top players the "market rate", because there is no market rate. Players nowadays are not paid by how good they are or what they have achieved. Milner for example is on £150k a week(according to reports) Sakho and Henderson on 100k a week as well. They are not top class players, so do they set the bench mark for solid Premier league players? As I said in a previous post we pay more than these top class players would get at most top foreign clubs, even though they would get more if they went to Chelsea for example. That is my point there is no market rate, because in the same way as transfers. The players are only worth what the buying club is willing to pay. They are worth more to some teams than they are to others.

Don't dispute that at all mate. The problem is as evidenced by Batshuayi most agents seem to have cottoned on to the amount of money available in the PL, and due to the stadium development we are not really reaping the rewards of the extra TV money.

I'm sure we have it in us to sign someone of Gotze's ilk, far from impossible but would need quite a few things to work in our favour also.

Still loads of loose ends.

The story I read is that Gotze said before Euros that he wanted to stay at Bayern to take the pressure off him during Euros,

He now is saying he wants to move, possibly because he's not excelled at Euros and Bayern are not keen to have him as a first team player as he's not played anything like as well for them in the last 2 years as he was at Dortmund, and with 1 year left on his contract his transfer fee is low.

Moving on from there, ManCity, Chelsea, ManU, Real, Barca are not clubs to but a player who was good 3 years ago at Dortmund but has had a couple of less good years at Bayern (he's not been bad just not looking the world beater that he was at Dortmund - that and a one year left on contract are the reason for the lowish transfer fee).

So our decision will be whether Poch thinks that he can get Gotze back to being a top performer,

Most players don't want to take pay cuts, so DL's issue is going to be on his wages, and the wage structure in place at Spurs which other players are on.

Or that's my thoughts !

A) Competition is a beautiful thing
B) Lamela was one of our most important players last season.

Don't get your knickers in a twist
I agree with points A and B but if we do get gotze lamela is behind the pecking order of Ali and eriksen to lay with gotze

I didn't try and make out anything. I just think it's a crazy suggestion was all. Maybe I was little harsh in how I put it but hey I'm no professional when it comes to communication online. I think Dier,Dembele and Alliworked great together last season. I wouldn't like to see it broken up.
