Watford, chill. Some outrageous statements on that forum. Let's get it right -

You are a mid-sized football league club experiencing a purple patch. You have no history of success to speak of but have started this season well, converting last year's momentum as many promoted sides have shown is possible in the past before sliding into the bottom 10 in the second half of the season, something which I fully expect to happen in your case as well.

You play aggressive, route one stuff which can be both fun to watch and effective and you have shocked some 'footballing' sides this year (Hi Liverpool). Maybe you expected Spurs to be one of them? Unfortunatley for you that expectation was misguided. Our Manager had watched you and set up to frustrate your two centre forwards (easily your best players, Ighalo in particular looks like someone who will probably be playing for a big club next year) with three sat in at the back. The game plan worked to a point and our pressing and refusal to roll over clearly upset some of your players, two of whom should have been sent off for violent conduct.

In the end we had some good fortune with the offside goal but over the course of the game we had been the better team as we have been and will be over the course of the season and indeed over the entire course of human history, even factoring in that rather small time deliberatley conference standard pitch of yours on the day.

I think we will see a different type of game at the Lane this year which will, for those of you planning to make the big trip to our nation's capital city to watch, be even less enjoyable.

In closing, you may 'hate' us all you like but please understand that your football club is not in any way significant. Please also refrain from ever attempting to classify Tottenham Hotspur as your 'rivals'.

Please feel free to come back and pipe up again when you are also one of the most succesfull clubs in the country with over 20 domestic and european trophies in your cabinet.

Regards

MK Dons and Reading are their rivals

They want a rival in the Premiership and they seemingly think that they are on our level hence the West Ham references. If either Milkwall or Luton were in the Prem we wouldn't be hearing a peep out of either of these teams fans...You could say the same about Southampton as well trying to attach themselves to us.

Even Deeney is whinging now.

"What frustrated me was seeing ten people running around the ref screaming for Nathan to be sent off.

I lpoked at them and thought Apparently we are little Watford and you're supposed to be running all over us so why do you need a man sent off. But each to their own"

The bitterness is strong in this one.

That's their captain speaking, can you imagine if Lloris came out with those comments?...now you know why their fans are so gassed.

Lamela was down, and one angle from the camera showed Toby was just standing (probably same as 7 others Spurs players) there watching referee showed a red. 10 men? Reckoned he could not count well.. I forgive him...

...but fuck off first.

Looks like McCarthy is out for the match.

James McCarthy clearly is not going to be available for the weekend,” Martinez said on Wednesday morning. “We are going to get a bit more information today and tomorrow because his old injury flared up. We need to find out exactly what the situation is.

Tom Cleverley, we will have a bit more information today and we will find out what will be his position towards the weekend.”

Martinez also confirmed that wingers Aaron Lennon and Kevin Mirallaswere rested against the Potters and both will come back into the reckoning for this weekend’s visit of in-form Spurs.

Meanwhile, Phil Jagielka is nearing a return but is most likely to be back for either the Manchester City Capital One Cup game or the FA Cup visit of Dagenham and Redbridge.

Martinez added: “I expect the weekend will be too early for Phil Jagielka but I expect him to be involved after that.”

It's fucking West Ham all over again ffs.

Listen, Watford...we don't care about you you insufferable muppets.
Yup. The Charlton twunts tried that shit too a few years back before they and their LEGOLAND ground fucked back off to the lower divisions.

A Watford fan responding to that picture of our celebrations:

Sean Bradley‏@Sean_B_101
celebrating an offside, last minute goal against a 10 man, newly promoted team like its the fucking WC Final

Jeezus - if you can't go mad at winning away from home with a late late winner then we might as well all give up. Even Gary Neville has repeatedly said that winning late on is the best way to win - and he won often!

It took us third too which probably had a fair amount to it

It's a new phenomenon for this piss taking on celebrations, like the wilful misunderstanding of Klopp's Liverpool fan service (funny but wasn't what people made out).

They can't have it both ways. Either they're big and impressive or they're not. They want their cake and to eat it

Just a quick 1 on the Watford fans' statements. Post after post mentions our celebrating the late goal like a cup final winner. It really wound them up. Tee hee.
There is nothing better in football than a late winner. Especially straight after they nearly scored. I was dancing round my lounge when it went in, so satisfying was that goal.
I don't get how they don't understand what that feeling is like?? It feels sooo good! Regardless of opposition too really.
And also, for comparison, did they not see liverpool's celebration after scoring a late equaliser to make it 2-2 at home with West Brom? Now that was embarrassing but they fail to mention it.
Mugs!

Lots of people? You're exaggerating. A handful may have made the statement, but they're in the same league as "Falcao, goodnight" and get pretty much ignored on here.

for the most part, there are many on here who believe that Kane is being truthful when he said he'd like to finish his career with us, emulating Ryan Giggs. Look it up on google, it's not hard to find.

When you also factor in Pinky's argument, which is a pretty strong one IMO, then his "impending move" to Utd looks more and more like fantasy.

As I see it, Utd are in disarray at probably the worst possible time for them, it's almost the antithesis of when the Prem started. Then they had their stadium built, they had a scouting network second to none, they had very smart owners who marketed them superbly, they bought astutely with the likes of Cantona and Keane and they stuck with their manager, allowing him the time to become arguably the best manager ever seen.

Now they have gone through 2 managers in 3 seasons (if LVG gets the goober as expected), thrown a quarter of a million away on, let's face it, dross and are regressing at a time when much of the league has improved exponentially. Look at Stoke FFS!

I regard myself as extremely level headed when it comes to Spurs and even I think they have a snowball's chance in Hell of ever getting Harry, an extra £20 mill couldn't prise Bale from us after all.

Your facts may be accurate but, and I'll caveat this as my own opinion, they're irrelevant to this debate based on contrary evidence that is just as compelling, if not more so.

I've left this alone and intend to going forward as it's just not going anywhere

But it's hard to not reply to this post.I fail to see why it's any more "irrelevant" than anyone else's view? There is no contrary evidence other than a Kane quote that many players who have left have also said. It's not more compelling, it's changeable and is something that people are choosing to believe. Which is fine but to be silenced over it is frankly a bit scary.

I've never said his move was impending. I simply answered a rather silly question of why Kane would move to Utd. Even when supposedly in disarray, there's loads of reasons. That was it really. The question was never would Levy sell. It then became increasingly caveated by people who wouldn't have it and it escalated. I got a bit pissy, sure, but I'm not surprised with some of the responses I got

"Your facts may be accurate". Yes they are. That used to be important to an argument but it seems now that it has to be wishful thinking and I don't play that game, sorry

If there's one fan cliché which gets me irate, it's the "celebrated like they've won the cup" type nonsense.

It's the last minute; so what if it was only an equaliser at home to a shit team, or an offside winner against "little" Watford?
(By the way, Drake's-ugly-brother, nobody has called you little, and your team surrounded the ref way more than us, so climb down from your horse).

Players are gonna go mad when scoring so late, and I wouldn't think any less of an opposing team for celebrating like that against us.

On the other hand we can all remember how gutting it is to concede a late goal.

Exactly. Feels good to be on the winning side and downright gutting to be on the other.
But this is why we love football right?
