That Goat ITK doesn't fill me with confidence tbh.

I refuse to get on negative one until the window 'slams' shut though.

What's the point of our new scouting team if we are looking at new options last minute?

I'd have thought we'd have gone 'right we have 2-3 huge holes in our squad, let's go and find 1-3 top targets to not only fill this gap but fit into the system'

If we can't find them the Scouts are shit, if we cant afford them they are identifying the wrong targets and if the viable targets have been signed by other clubs then our last minute method has proven to be ineffective.

Still, a few more days to judge :)

So you're telling me it's a white horse with like a cone on its head? With a rainbow tail?

And what did you call it again ... "unicorn"?

They might be players who we have identified/enquired about but have been apart of champions league clubs who have been knocked out.

Yes, having read your response - my argument had a huge hole in it that you've exploited...I'll go back to lurking

Not really. Given that some clubs are going out of the Champions League before the end of the window I would imagine that we looked at all of the players and clubs in the qualifiers and put out feelers early in the window. Now we know who is out we can advance those that we want.

Sensible and surely correct.

It feels different to me. I think people have dived into the Levy narrative, refused to listen when people in the know have said that he's given a harsh ride (that's from the agent side not the Levy side too) and assumed that things are exactly the same as they always are.

But they're not are they? When have we ever had a clear-out like we've had? We've already signed a classy centre half (which was the biggest problem area for me) and we're working on a back-up for Kane. We've added pace to the team with N'Jie and our new messiah scored his first goal at the weekend. I'm actually a bit excited, because the team has got better from last year. On paper you can't tell me that's wrong. We've not lost anyone (that was key or a starter) and we've added young fresh MP-approved talent.

I don't read anything into the media stuff, as I know how it works. A lot of it is awfully made up because it sells. There was a really good vid about how the Sun decided one day to just ... make it all up and sensationalise it all. And thus the transfer rumour mill was born.

The man himself (Levy) said we'd do our business early where possible (see the five players we have signed) and that the market naturally comes to a head at the end of the trading period and activity increases. We're not alone in this, which is why every day you see Arsenal linked with a forward, Chelsea submitting their eighth bid for Stones, Manchester United looking for a striker ...

So you've been given forewarning, why do you expect anything different given our financial position? Just because people do not like change, does not mean we have not changed our internal workings. The noises are from those high up is that we'll be OK. JJ said that as much as yesterday. Grey Fox was confident. Trix says things are progressing.

The ITK side of things has been a lot quieter, so people naturally assume that means nothing is going on rather than "leaks" being plugged and sensitive information remaining just that.

As for your question: I expect Berahino and a good DM. And I'll be well happy with the squad in its lighter, younger, hungrier form.
You are one of the most glass half full guys ive ever heard. I like it!

I am reading this as extra options rather than desperation ... maybe a chance to get someone previously out of reach ... but I am trying to be optimistic about Spurs today

I seem to read the Goats post as panic stations. Typical Spurs tire out their options and then scramble around at the end of the window searching for the Stambouli's of the world. Why on earth we haven't signed a striker, even just a cheap signing from abroad that we can take a chance on. That way we still try for Berahino and at best we end up with 3 strikers, at worst we have 2, yet instead we risk having only 1 striker before the window closes. I'm not as fussed about the defensive midfielder because there's a chance one of our current crop will step up because at least we have a number of central midfielders to choose from. We have no such luxury in attack though.

I hope Daniel Levy pulls a rabbit out of the hat this time around. We can't afford to have another season where we blame our transfer activites on our failings. I just want one season where the manager has the players he needs to push for top 4 and try and win a trophy. Every window seems to close with us short in at least one position and overloaded in others, totally unbalanced and unsuited to the formation we want.

With Monaco being knocked I saw it mentioned this morning that they may have to sell. Obviously Martial is there and Moutinho also. Perhaps could link in with Goats ITK?

Why would Monaco sell Martel if he only just signed a new contract? I know they need money etc but even so, surely if they were even going to consider it they would be looking for mega money. Still, i would much prefer him to Berahino.
Plus we need a CF and Martial plays on the left where we are quite adequate with Njie and Chadli. We aren't going to blow our transfer budget on a position we don't need

Mouthinho is only 28. But what do we want, a Defensive mid or a playmaker?? ITK staying positive

My thoughts exactly! - Maybe the Goat is eluding to revisiting the Martial bid, i'm guessing the door is still open there.

More exciting (for me anyway), if Leverkusen goes out tonight then perhaps Kramer could be convinced to come our way?

Fingers crossed!

Don't think we will try for Martial again. He signed a new contract, so his price is going to be near double what we were willing...

Unless of course he added in a non-champions league release clause with fixed fee....

Just a guess but I suspect one of the reasons he didn't come was the prospect of a season in CL. A season in the prem, suddenly becomes higher profile.

Interesting developments from the goat.....

I think players that have fixed release clauses can be signed up without too much trouble.

They're the ones we'll be aiming for imvho.
