I just finished a three hour dinner with my friend and Charlie Lewis (son of Joe) got to say it was a very interesting meal to say the least
I really didn't know how Joe made all of his money but now I have a different prospective on a self made billionaire.
Charlie is an interesting man who has a genuine love of football and Tottenham all though he was an Arsenal fan as a child something I gave him shit for.
He is a third generation restauranteur and gave me good feedback on how to grow my business.
I tried to ask as many Spurs questions as possible without being pushy
The most I got was that DL knows what the coach wants and thinks that we can get the players but not until the summer. That means that the season is try and do the best we can with what we have and invest next year. I know it doesn't sound overly optimistic but the whole Spurs family believes in the coach and his philosophy.
The other really good part was how much Hugo loves London and the club
If I think of anything else I will add on to the post.
Sorry I can't pass on any more information
Loving your work @dovahkiin (y)

Naturally we'd all like a new player or two this window as it's always exciting but I think we just need to see the bigger picture and remember that top 4 would be an over-achievment this season, whether it's gettable or not, I never expected it to happen. I was actually hoping to land somewhere around 7th so that we could avoid Europa League but that's a personal thing.

I'm backing Poch and so for me that means that we have more chance of being top 4 consistently in future if we get the players he wants. If that has to take some time then so be it.

Thanks for passing on. Good to hear they are behind the coach.

I agree with what you are saying but I don't think we are doing our jobs as responsible fans if we don't ask questions, like for example, what's happened to the increased to money?

We will have to wait and see the accounts in April I guess. I suspect quite a lot of our funds has gone towards preparing for the stadium again and sorting out archway.

Oh, I should imagine Levy and Lewis just trousered it and then blew it on coke, wine, women, song and the gee-gees.

I'm not sure about making too many changes in the summer. I'm hoping that we have a few more youngsters introduced next season along with a few experienced signings in key positions. Not too big an overhaul.

I would be looking to sell;
Kaboul, Chiriches, Capoue, Lennon, Adebayor

If a good offer comes in;
Dembele, Townsend, Paulinho, Soldado

I would then look at bringing through the likes of Velkovic, Carroll or Pritchard, Onomah, Winks
Add an experienced centre back, a proper defensive midfielder, as well as competition for Chadli on the left, and 1 or 2 strikers.

I'd always heard that Lewis' son is a playboy waster who lives in Argentina (though a Cambridge mate of Levy's) and it's his daughter who is his de facto business heir and really interested in the club

Trouble is we Havent left ourselves with much option we didnt bring many in the summer and we wont do business this month.
So at some point there has to be a heavier transfer window to compensate.

You say not too big. But you're looking to sell Minimum 5 and possibly up to 9 if we had good offers.

That's a huge overhaul. I agree those players you've listed should be moved on but i wish we could shift at least 2-3 this window. Unfortunately it doesn't look that way...

It's just another big mess! Sell 7 in the summer, buy 5-7 and wait for them to settle (AGAIN). What other top club does this?

Agreed, and of the possible sales in that list, you really have to think Paulinho and Soldado will be must-sells if their careers with us continue in the same way for the rest of the season.

Unfortunately the accurate ITK's seem to be pointing to the perpetual motion of our recruitment for a few years now, like a dog chasing its tail, we're always told in the summer - too hard to shift players, next window - squad too bloated, in the summer - too hard to shift players, next window - squad too bloated, repeat ad nauseum.

I wouldn't call that a massive overhaul though. The core of the squad remains the same, those players mentioned largely have not been involved with the squad at match day this season. I think it's key to keep the first team squad together and replace the fringe players who are not being trusted by the manager.

A mead-stained parchment arrives from the warty one. Makes absolutely no sense to me, however I'm confident the collective COYS brain will provide the requisite illumination .... eventually.
"The AN26 Ferrum defender. Born in New but moved to old at the age of 10.
He wants us, and we're keen to get him in by the deadline, but will depend on his price coming down a bit. If not now, then on a free in the summer."

Whether we like these players or not, they are the core of our squad! Not sure how you can say they've not been involved with the squad on match days. I know Lennon has been bombed out hoping to force him out and Ade has gone AWOL with Juju. But the rest have been used throughout the whole season.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see Kaboul, Vlad, and Ade shown the door ASAP. But right now Poch is still using these players regularly. Therefore come the summer if we sell 5-9 players from your list and bring in 4-5 players it will be another huge overhaul.

Be interesting to see how it pans out.
David Gold has stated numerous times that he won't do business with us, but at the moment his choice is a little bit of cash, or no cash....
