Whatever the story is, I still don't understand how we got Eriksen at such a low price, considering that he was hardly and unknown quantity, but rather was quite highly touted as one of the next big things. So why his price was so low is a bit mysterious to me.

William or not, Levy would always have snapped him up at that price, regardless of whether he was needed or not...any one can see that his value is likely to go up.

But like everyone at the moment I've extremely glad we've got him (for a few years...). Hopefully the team will be build around him.

Would be happy to have William too, though.

Willian is crap man, His best attribute is "tracking back and working hard".

He is a perfect cog in a Mourinho side, as we keep reminding each other on here about our own signings "judge them in their second season" i think it is only fair we apply the same measure to Willian, can't understand why you would label him as "crap" either, clearly he is not.

How do you know?
Maybe the fact that we only moved for Eriksen after the Willian stuff fucked up

Edit- from a recent article by Jason Burt :

Eriksen’s move to Spurs was executed quickly after their bid for Willian was gazumped by Chelsea at the last minute – “there were a lot of rumours, nothing concrete, at one point Tottenham came and it was, yeah, snap,”

So while watching Eriksen play incredibly well YET AGAIN yesterday, it occurred to me that actually, he was BACK-UP to Willian (FACT).

So I thought that I'd compare the two this season for their respective clubs (I could only find stats for Europe and PL)

Eriksen: 9 Goals, 8 Assists
Willian: 3 goals, 3 Assists

So, Willian, who is in a better team that scores tons of more goals than us and is surrounded by better players has managed 6 less goals and 5 less assists.

Let's remind ourselves again. We could have signed Willian for £30 million but because he, Mourinho, Abramovich and Chelsea are massive ****s, we ended up with Eriksen for £11.5million.

WOW! Thank FUCK for that. We've signed a better player for much less money and with the potential to be lightyears ahead than Willian when he turns 25 (Willian's age)

So, thank you Chelsea, for taking Willian instead of us. We will be truly grateful when he turns into a world-class player for us in the next few years (and sell him to Madrid for £100million and buy 13 new players in Sherwood's second reign)

Can anyone truly say that they are still angry that Chelsea bought Willian and we "only" got Eriksen?

BULLET. DODGED.

1. It's not a fact at all.

2. You have compared the most basic of facts, not even minutes played let alone opposition etc.

3. The whole post is a bit crap really, isn't it?

No need for that. I'm trying to say something positive and you're getting angry

Edit- Also, as I hinted at, I couldn't actually find really detailed stats to make my comparison better...

Willian has been very good

Eriksen hasn't been used enough and proved me wrong abit(though debatable). I said when we signed him he isn't one for now but a great player for the future and felt we should of signed koke for the now.

Just wanted to take a brief second to gloat that I told you folks Eriksen would hit the ground running for us and that Lamela would not initially succeed if ever in England. Had to do it.

That having been said, I agree with you specifically that you're not entirely wrong. While clearly a quality player that has adjusted well, he still has a few weaknesses that could use some shoring up. For instance, he still takes an extra touch in some scenarios that might've worked in the Eredivisie, but in the Prem he's got to set up his shot or look a bit sooner. He could also use a bit of intensive speed drills over the summer IMO. He doesn't need to be a speedster per se, but he could use a bit more white fibers (quick-fire) in his legs for pace and general rate of movement. He plays with an unusually calm manner for a league of this level, which helps him in decision-making because of a clearer head, but he could still use just a bit more aggression and tenacity in his play while not sacrificing in the decision-making department.

But at the ripe age of barely 22, he's got plenty of time to work on some of these things and he's more than well on his way to being a world class star.

Erm AVB wanted Willian but we got Lamela.

Eriksen would have come anyway at that price.

So what you're saying is someone writing FACT at the end of a sentence on the internet wasn't actually saying something factual?

I'm appalled.

I am almost certain that there is a proportion of our fanbase who are barely able to tie a shoelace, stand dribbling, swaying back and forth mumbling incoherent drivel under their breath as they wait for the men in white jackets to take them away.

I also believe the majority of these halfwits post on here.

I jest, I jest. :p

I'd swap him for Lamela in a second
WOAH! I would certainly not swap Lamela for Willian! Seriously silly comment. You can't even compare Lamela for starters as he hasn't even played and the glimpses of class he showed before he got injured i would have him over Willian and he wears his heart on his sleeve and works his bollox off!

Uh oh, you're about to get Lamela fanboy'd.

Fact is, one's adapted quite well to the Prem, the other has yet to. I hope Lamela comes good and proves me wrong, but I was very hesitant to the buy and as of yet there's no evidence to suggest my reservations were unfounded. Also, Willian can play from the left which is a position we were in much greater need of once Bale went inverted, while Lamela played on the right where we already had two-Prem proven wingers. So this man has justified reason to be of this disposition.

It's based on what I've actually seen in the Premier League rather than the Lamela-fantasy constructed in everyone's heads.
