So while watching Eriksen play incredibly well YET AGAIN yesterday, it occurred to me that actually, he was BACK-UP to Willian (FACT).

So I thought that I'd compare the two this season for their respective clubs (I could only find stats for Europe and PL)

Eriksen: 9 Goals, 8 Assists
Willian: 3 goals, 3 Assists

So, Willian, who is in a better team that scores tons of more goals than us and is surrounded by better players has managed 6 less goals and 5 less assists.

Let's remind ourselves again. We could have signed Willian for £30 million but because he, Mourinho, Abramovich and Chelsea are massive ****s, we ended up with Eriksen for £11.5million.

WOW! Thank FUCK for that. We've signed a better player for much less money and with the potential to be lightyears ahead than Willian when he turns 25 (Willian's age)

So, thank you Chelsea, for taking Willian instead of us. We will be truly grateful when he turns into a world-class player for us in the next few years (and sell him to Madrid for £100million and buy 13 new players in Sherwood's second reign)

Can anyone truly say that they are still angry that Chelsea bought Willian and we "only" got Eriksen?

Willian has been very good

Eriksen hasn't been used enough and proved me wrong abit(though debatable). I said when we signed him he isn't one for now but a great player for the future and felt we should of signed koke for the now.

Erm AVB wanted Willian but we got Lamela.

Eriksen would have come anyway at that price.

At the time we wanted both Willian and Lamela and apparently made a bid for both(according to the papers)

Willian is a quality player, I'd hardly say bullet dodged. Could have had Eriksen, Lamela, and Willian in an attacking 3 behind Ade.

We wanted both so yes I am pissed about it.

Willian Eriksen Lamela

Jizzworthy, although I realise we got Lamela instead of Willian, I can still dream.

Edit: Talking out of my arse.

I was always under the impression that we were signing Lamela and Willian concurrently with Eriksen being the late comer

Willian had a slightly slow start but I have been impressed with him whenever I have seen him play. He has also put in more of a shift than you would expect and more than most of our players, though he does have Mourinho demanding that of him day in, day out.

Guys, it was Lamela and Willian but Chelsea got Willian so we got Eriksen.

It was never all 3 of them. It was never Lamela OR Willian. It was only between Eriksen and Willian.

I really don't like these comparisons as it never tells the full story. I think we would of signed Eriksen anyway for that sort of value.

But make no mistake, Willian has been excellent for them. Works very hard for the cause and has real qaulity about him.

We thought Chelsea wanted him because we did, Mourinho wanted him to replace Mata because he works a lot harder. He wants quality and work rate in all his forward thinking players...as opposed to mixing up a different set of qualities/attributes.
Sometimes its not just as simple as looking at the raw stats, it rarely is in fact. But anybody who hasn't been impressed with Willian in the last four or five months either hasn't seen a lot of him or is pretty limited on football matters.

Eriksen has obviously got better and better for us but in truth both these players have had good seasons, but Willian has been absolutely central to Chelsea's strong performances. You only have look at his performance away to City.

I'll tell you who is a better player than Willian and although i confess i haven't seen a great deal of him, so I could be wrong, Lamela.

I don't believe that it is fact that Eriksen was only ever going to be instead of Willian. Why do you say that?

What have the Federation Against Copyright Theft got to do with this?

Other than that, this whole "backup" thing isn't something i buy into, i would hope that form would dictate who made it into the starting eleven and, when you're scheduled to play as many games as we are expected to each season, there's a need for two full squads, THEN backup on top of that in a perfect world.

And as others have said, Willians done pretty bloody well for a player in his first season in the league.
