If he doesnt get top 4 he will probably be sacked and we bring in van gaal.

If he gets us 4th he will stay

This is how I think it will play out.

Levy needs a short term solution, best bet is someone who knows the squad. Timothy.

But Timothy wants a guarantee of a fair go at the job. Ok, 18 months says Levy.

Levy negotiates with Van Gaal, or whoever in the knowledge that the short term is assured.

Should Sherwood not make top 4, which is highly likely, Levy can say, 'Sorry Tim, you didn't do well enough.' And in the Summer, he can hire whoever he's been dealing with.

That is to assume Levy is a complete snake, of course.

ETA - This would rely on Van Gaal keeping his mouth shut for the next 6 months.

I would have waited until after the Utd game personally, that would have given us a better indication of how he sets about games we will need to be a bit more 'clever' over.

I suspect that he has Levy over a barrel though and has called him out to make a decision now.

We've kept hearing about how Sherwood was being groomed for the Spurs job over the last few seasons, so i guess it makes sense that Levy sees it through to fruition.

It'll certainly be more entertaining in the second half of the season.

Lets give the bloke a a chance and see what he can do. He may get us in the top four, even if he doesnt and gets us playing positive football again it will be a good thing.

I'm ok with this. Ok, so it's not the most exciting appointment ever but how many times have we been excited and had our hopes dashed?

Fucks sake, think its a backwards move. Nothing to do but back him until the end of the season I suppose. COYS.

A contract till the end of the season would have been enough IMO.

Don't know what to think of the appointment ...

Liked his bravery on Sunday when he introduced the extremely impressive Bentaleb.

But I disliked his initial starting XI and persistence with Sig who was dreadful and the introduction of the anonymous Defoe.

I have the feeling he's going to be very gun-ho and it will be interesting to see what sort of team he puts out against Manure as Sunday's selection would have been murdered.
