Should he leave I'd be gutted. Been one of my favourite players ever since he got his place in the starting XI

I've got mixed feelings. I would keep him this season as an impact sub. Think him and JD are perfect in those roles. But a good offer, and I'm tempted. Just think he's not going to get any better, and I don't think he can match where AVB wants to take us.

I hope people are getting the picture with AVB now.

Next in line is Daws.

After that Walker will be scrapping for his place (once a RB is brought in) and will be gone if he doesn't improve defensively.

AVB ain't messing around.

Lennon's going nowhere this season, least of all Cardiff. Anything that goes through the Goat is just wild speculation, something that never looks the least likely to happen.

What should concern Lennon is that he looks very far away from making the England squad for Brazil. I'd place Walcott, Ox and even Townsend far ahead of him.

I like Aaran Lennon a lot. Been one of my favourite players in recent years... but in a 4-3-3 he simply doesn't have the goal return to command a starting a place IMO. As an out and out winger he does a great job but in an AVB team playing 4-3-3 his average of 3/4 goals a season simply isn't gonna cut the mustard. Townsend is younger, more versatile and a more potent goal threat in that position and i can certainly see Lennon being sold if the price is right. I'll be very sad if that happens but can't deny theres a strong argument to be made for letting him go

I can see us wanting to cash in if Lamela comes, especially after Townsends performances. But i cant really see Lennon being too keen on swapping London for Cardiff.

The system is evolving though and the question is, will Lennon evolve with it or fet left behind.

The likes of Defoe and Lennon were nailed on starters not long ago but we've moved on and whilst both can offer something from a squad level, if we do continue to bring the calibre of player this far along with prodigious talent like Halilovic and Vadillo then they will need to look elsewhere for guaranteed first team football.

So far we've let go

Parker
Caulker
Hudd
Dempsey

We've got in

Soldado
Capoue
Paulinho
Chadli

I think we can all agree that's an improvement. If Lennon goes, I'm pretty confident we'll get in an improvement. I trust AVB/Baldini to know what they're doing. Lennon is decent but hardly sets the world alight, there's better available out there.

Dawson is very uncomfortable with ball at his feet. I can see vlad coming into the team to replace him.

Just to clarify, the ITK says we'll only sell if we get replacements. I would be absolutely against Lennon leaving if we didn't bring in any more attacking quality. He's a good player and has been a terrific servant to Spurs but he'll never become any better than the level he's at now, he's peaked. I can't see him wanting to be a squad player for us and if (big if) we got Eriksen & Lamela it's going to be tough to fit Aaron in with a fast developing Townsend as well as Chadli. He doesn't fit the 4-3-3 because he doesn't offer end product and yes he could become another option if we wanted a switch in formation but is it really worth turning down say £12m ish for a player that we might use if we wanted to go 4-2-3-1 occasionally? I'm sure Chadli could do a job as a natural winger if we needed him to. I would only accept a good offer for him because he's a talented player but I really think if we got say £12m we could sign a player that would be more relevant to the system. I suppose he could be considered a good option to provide for Goaldado but he didn't really prove that point against Palace and AVB doesn't play with old fashioned wingers.

Aaron should not be sold now unless its really silly money.
Whichever players come in are gonna need time to settle so even if we wait till january his value will not drop which then gives the new players time to settle

This in a nut shell - no room for sentimentality if we want to reach the top.

Does this mean potentially POTL will become Phantom of Cardiff City Stadium (POCCS)?

thinktank, I really enjoy reading most of your posts but I can't tell you how much I disagree with you in your opinion of Walker. I think that he's just about the best right-back that we can realistically expect to attract to Spurs (all the ones who are undeniably better than Walker are in the 'Lahm'-class, and we those players are out of our league for the time being). I agree that he does still make mistakes in his defending, but I don't think he makes noticeably more mistakes than other defenders his age and his pace gets him out of half the times he puts himself in trouble in any case. He does still have improvements to make to his game (again, like many other defenders of his age) but where we see him differently is that I do think he has the determination, work ethic and professionalism to keep learning from others and iron those mistakes out of his game in the future.

As for AVB, he's played Walker as first choice in just about every important game (i.e. 99% of league games and all pivotal cup/European games) that he's been in charge for, so I think that Villas-Boas does rate him and will stick with Walker unless we had the opportunity to sign a stellar Lahm-esque replacement.

I don't see either of us being able to argue the other one around, so we may just have to agree to disagree on the subject of Walker. (Apologies to everyone else for going off on a tangent!)

I did wonder why he didn't play, and did question whether he may be at risk of being outbound. Unsure how he fits in with the wide forward role as opposed to wingers. Can he play on the left coming in? Does he carry the goal threat of the others? He could be an alternative though as an orthodox winger to mix things up.
RF Lamela and Townsend.
LF Chadli and ?
Other thing to think if, we are running out of nation trained players. We need 8 in the 25 ( any less than out and we get less than 25 to the same deficit). Walker, Naughton, Dawson, Rose, Lennon, Townsend, Sigurdsson and Defoe.
