Getting sick and tired of our weakness at set pieces due to this ridiculous Zonal Marking! You never hear pundits or reporters raving on about the system, only putting it down.

Man for Man marking is, in my view, the best way to defend set pieces as it's easier to match people up size-wise and it's just more organised, just my opinion, what do you guys think about it? COYS

Very true, but if we aren't going to score goals, we bloody well can't go conceding them:facepalm:

I'm sure I read somewhere that statistically speaking you are less likely to concede using Zonal marking than you are with Man marking.

That said it doesn't really matter what system you use if the players aren't doing their job properly within that system. If the individual players do their job correctly then both systems will work.

Some of the best coaches in the world use zonal exclusively (in fact, most Premier League teams use some form of it).

It makes no difference if you use zonal or man to man, or a combination of both. If you lack basic organisation and communication, you're going to fail.

This sums it up. Not only set-pieces but throughout play we look disorganised when the press isn't working.

Zonal. Man-marking. Whatever.

Unless we start trying to actually win the ball in the air, we'll always concede.

That's where the problem lies - no-one's actually bothering with the ball.

Dont think we have enough players who want or like to do the dirty side of the game our lot are pussies who only look good when things are going well when there not they are a liability.

We've been shit at defending set pieces for years using man marking, so what difference does it make?

Get Fazio in the side for a start, may help.

man for man marking for me every time you know your role you know who you have to pick up you fuck it up its your fault

zonal marking for me lets the attacking player get a run at the ball
