I snubbed Arsenal and Madrid - Zokora

utility player Didier Zokora has confirmed that he snubbed Arsenal and that Real Madrid were after him.
Ivory Coast international Zokora has been one of the most consistent players for Spurs over the last few years, and the midfielder and defender has committed himself to the Whites.
The African left French side St Etienne for Tottenham in summer 2006, and he has stated that moving to Arsenal was part of his options.
The 28-year-old claims that he held talks with Arsene Wenger, but finally made up his mind and opted for their London rivals Spurs.
And Juande Ramos’ former protégé has also said that the Real Madrid coach wanted to lure him out of White Hart Lane during the January transfer window, which proves his worth.
Zokora told the Daily Telegraph: “Yes, when I signed for Spurs, Arsenal also wanted me.
“I spoke with Arsene Wenger after the (2006) World Cup, but I preferred to come to Spurs because it gave me a good option for my life.
“I am very happy.”
As far as Los Merengues are concerned, the Ivorian said: “Everybody knows Real Madrid wanted me but I signed a new contract for this club and if they want me, I stay.
“The club need me, my life is here. Real are one of the best clubs in the world so that is good for me, no?
“That means I am not a bad player.”

A passionate and loyal player.

Eric, i understand and appreciate the guy but i'll tell you now, give this thread a couple of hours and it'll dissolve into a debate about whether he's brilliant or shit, a majority of the haters using nonsense to argue their point, or picking on one off incidents like they've defined his career.

Just thought it worth a warning.

Long live Zoko-Pops

don't believe it for a second!

Zokora does not appear to be the type of player who sprout bull shite to the press.
Anyway, some people did not believe the earth was round back then. :)

 have i ever neg-repped you? ever?

that's another thing the anti-zok brigade like to do - overact. I've conceded his faults on many occasions but, i guess much like Didi's contribution to our squad, choosing to overlook certain aspects of what actually goes on is part and parcel of the Dididebatathon that every thread with his name on becomes

Jammy Dodger anyone? I'll put the kettle on...

He's more like a cult hero I guess.

The rubbish film that has the odd cool moment, that gets cult like status, for having the odd cool bit.

he's got flaws to his game but you've gotta love him when he comes out with stuff like this. One day he'll score a goal at the end of one of his mad runs and it'll be goal of the season:wink:.

I would fucking love Zokora to score the winner on sunday. Just thinking about it makes me smile. I don't believe for one second that Real Madrid wanted him.
