We ain't getting top 4. 9 points off with our form.

Our next two games are against Watford and Norwich.

In those two weeks, Sheffield United are playing against Arsenal and Man City, both Wolves and Man Utd have to play against Liverpool, and Chelsea and Arsenal have to play each other.

Following week, we're playing City, while Leicester are playing Chelsea, and United are playing Wolves.

Following week, Chelsea play Man Utd, while we've got Villa.

tl;dr - everyone in the top half has a difficult few fixtures coming up. Our form isn't great but if we can get 9 points from the next 4 games, we're well in the mix.

Honestly finding it hard to be excited by a couple of loan signings I'd never heard of a week ago, but here's hoping we know what we're doing and aren't just adding bodies because we don't have a cohesive plan or don't want to spend the required money to enact it.

Does anyone seriously expect us to win at Watford though? I think we’ll be lucky to get a draw on present form.

OT, I know.

What can really be expected in January though, it's not just Spurs running out the line about how difficult the market is in January, it's every club. A couple of upside loans to fill injury holes and maybe get lucky and pull of Aarons or Bruno is all that can be reasonably expected. Plus sell, sell, sell deadwood.

The real test is this summer if Levy allows Mourinho to try to build a team in his image.

Intriguing thing about this and Gedson is how much of an influence Mendes is already having, and I'm not sure how I feel about it.

On the one hand, it's great to have a superagent on your side - just look at Wolves.

On the other hand, I'd much rather we sign players based on analytical scouting like Liverpool do, rather than just relying on 'old boy' networks and agent relationships to find players. I find it hard to believe that Gedson are Luis are just coincidentally the two best players we can sign and just happens to be on Mendes' books. Too much power and we'll just be signing his dross.

Don’t worry I’m sure he’ll bring us Ruben Dias and Ronaldo next summer.

Severely underwhelming. Would any of the other top 6 clubs sign him? No? Then neither should we. We need to act like a big club. We've got money, we need a forward who can play up top or as a wide forward.

I agree with this, to an extent.

Reckon we're going for loans to try and go in for one of Mourinho's prime targets. Still have a feeling we've had a slight change of plan post the ITK about Bruno Fernandes and we're gearing our window towards him, with the help of Mendes.

EDIT: In hindsight, i need to put down the crackpipe

Yeah, the average to finish top 4 is around 70 points I think, which would mean us collecting an average of 2.5 points per match over the remainder of the season which is virtually title winning form. There are no signs we are capable of that.

Even if by some fluke the points total for 4th turns out to be something really really low, in the low 60s for instance, even then we would still need an average of 2 points per match which is around or in excess of what we have averaged even in most of our best seasons.

On loan I'd take pretty much anyone who adds something that we are missing with Kane out. However doesn't look on paper like someone we could use outside this spring. 28 years old with first season he is hitting them in with bit better rate.
10 in 25 for Spartak in 18-19 isn’t bad either. Decent scoring rate for the last 18 months or so.

Seen this kind of comment a lot on here and on Twitter re them being unkown but also can't count how many times I have seen the club dug out for not unearthing players before they become mega stars on huge wages... we can't have it both ways. Some will turn out to be great others won't I'm sure they have done their homework.

Surely this has all been a smoke screen for something else what a strange transfer saga it’s been ?

Especially weird considering we were told the club wouldn't deal with Mendes before and now Jose's arrived Mendes seems to be running tings
