It wasn't @Jamturk , it was @Japhet and while I'd agree with what you say if he was walking around the local park, he was outside a 5 star hotel.
Not the sort of place you expect to be anything other than pretty safe really.

And I don't think that's what he was saying at all, he was moaning because a rich person spent some money on something nice.
The value shouldn't matter because to Biss, it's the same as me having a 300 quid watch.
Should everyone be walking around with Casio's or something?

(I'll add the obvious caveat that I haven't read the article because I won't give that shit-rag a single click).
Y mistake. Sorry for the mixup😮

Can't catch a break this year it seems.

as a side note you should really employ security if you are going to wear that sort of value on your wrist, just look at London, watch thefts are massively on the rise, people are desperate, not to say it is right but it is reality so best be prepared.

I don’t think Japhet is condoning what happened to Bissouma and his wife I think he’s merely saying that if you walk around in public with 260k of bling on you you are asking to be robbed. That’s not condoning robbery just pointing out that it doesn’t show much common sense on top of the fact that paying that much money for a watch is a bit ridiculous and over the top
What do you mean walking round in public with it? It's a watch, when exactly should he wear it? Save it for special occasions like sitting at home alone watching gogglebox?

Whilst I cannot condone that behaviour and have sympathy for their experience I cannot comprehend or morally understand spending that amount of money on a watch

Something seriously fucked up with us with this huge disparity between rich & poor

If you can't think of anything better to do with 260k I'm afraid I'm all out of sympathy.
Come on, you’re better than that. Firstly, regardless of other circumstances if you can’t have any sympathy for someone being tear gassed whilst going about their business there is something wrong. Second, I’m sure there are lots of things he can and has done with 260k before buying said watch, including lots for charity. You’re talking as if it’s the only 260k he’s ever had. And lastly, you might think footballers wages are obscene but that doesn’t mean they should refuse to spend their money to avoid offending you

Can you publish a list of items and maximum prices footballers can spend on them so Biss can avoid this kind of embarrassing faux pas in future?

There has never been a fair way of dividing all wealth in the history of mankind. Questioning an individual’s mortality for spending money he’s legitimately earned is absurd

I saw Bernardo silva in a supermarket when on holiday in Portugal last week. I can’t confirm if it was worth more or less than 260k but he was wearing a very nifty looking gold watch.

Sadly I didn’t have any pepper spray to hand but can all those who think biss brought this on himself confirm if they think I should have gone for a headbutt or a kick in the balls as my opening move?

I wouldn't credit the scumbags with the presumption that they knew the value of what they were stealing. My guess is that they just saw a shiny watch and went for it.

It could have been one of 'Aldi's finest' for all they knew and they still would have mugged him, cos he's a famous footballer.

Very unfortunately in this lawless, scumbag society we live in, where the need for jealousy, sympathy for the reasons I done it world, you cannot comfortably wear or drive anything's that means your income. A shameful bloody catalogue of victim's continues.
I'm 58 worked hard since I was 14 and still continue to work hard. I afforded myself my first brand new car in March, nothing too special a new Skoda Superb, a sensible older blokes car, took the wife to a big Tesco in Essex on the Saturday, after an hour of shopping came back to the car, it has been keyed all down one side and also the passenger door, yes, not in the same league as Biss thankfully, but it told me, what's the fucking point in trying to have something nice....

Maybe, it’s possible, but it’s also equally possible that not only did they know who he was, what the watches values was but also were tipped off as to where he was staying. My money is on the latter.

it also could’ve just been they know rich people, including football players, stay at that hotel and rich people have expensive things so it’s just a matter of staking out the place and waiting until someone comes out.

Kick for me.

You'd have to stoop pretty low for the headbutt (assuming you're of average height) Bernardo is only a wee-man.

How about I think that someone who spends 260k on something that they would normally wear out in public has lost a little bit of their hold on reality. Flaunting that level of conspicuous consumerism is simply asking for trouble even if that trouble is indefensible. His money so he can do what he wants with it but it does seem that with some people the more money they have the less common sense they have.

Dislike all you want but how is this really different to saying to a woman, “well, wearing that mini skirt and low cut top showing your cleavage is asking for trouble, I hate the fact you were raped it’s horrible but maybe you shouldn’t walk around dressed like that. Hey, it’s your body do what you want with it but don’t go moaning when some rapist rapes you, have some common sense”

Nice

Are you being deliberately obtuse? Biss earns £8m a year before any endorsements etc, spending a week or two’s wages on a watch isn’t losing hold on reality.

And besides, I very much doubt he’s left the price tag on, so just how conspicuous does the flaunting have to be for you to be victim shaming? If he got mugged for a 3k watch is it still his fault? 5k? 10k?

Some of the comments on this thread are laughable
