If Winks is FULLY fit, sure he's worth the risk, but whoever must sit and not go wondering up the pitch. They will counter and we will need bodies to slow them down and make tackles.
Agree but Wanyama is too slow. Eriksen not strong enough. Its a problem as Sissoko will, hopefully, go on surging runs forward leaving us open to counter attack. If Sissoko can stay Id play Eriksen next to him as we're gonna need to get that ball forward quickly and counter their press. Nobody is better at that than Eriksen. Moura and Son have to start on the wings to occupy their full backs.
I've seen enough of Poch to trust he knows best. I've lost count of how many times we've got a result against top teams after I've looked at the starting line up and screamed WTF? Same with his subs. Obviously it doesn't work out every time but on the whole.
I cant believe we in the final.
The fking final!!!

Winks was back in full training before Kane, yet you put Kane back in the team.

For me Winks is absolutely vital, perhaps even more so than Kane. Without him we will struggle to control the game for longer than a few minutes at a time. Liverpool wont lay off us like Ajax did and it's vital we have a calm head in midfield to keep things ticking over and to beat their press. Without him I fear we'll be overrun.

Wanyama was a passenger in both legs against Ajax and we can't afford that again. He simply doesn't have the legs anymore.

Lloris
Aurier Alderweired Vertonghen Rose
Sissoko Winks
Lucas Dele Eriksen
Kane

Gazzaniga, Vorm, Trippier, KWP, Sanchez, Foyth, Davies, Wanyama, Dier, Skipp, Son, Lamela, Llorente

Harsh on Sonny but Lucas has earned it and then some. Lamela, Son and Llorente to come on off the bench. If we have to bring a CM on, then bring on Dier.

Right, like pretty much everyone else, I've been thinking about this for weeks and this is where I am at the moment:

---------------Lloris-----------------

Aurier----Toby----Jan-----Rose

---------Sissoko—Winks-------

--Son-----Eriksen---Lucas---

--------------Kane-------------

Kane’s mere presence on the pitch will create them a problem. One of Matip, or better still, VVD will need to watch him which will keep them occupied and could impact their ball distribution from the back.

Robertson and Alexander-Arnold will try and exert themselves as high up the flanks as possible to crowd out the midfield. Provided we can shift the ball quickly through our ball players (Winks/Eriksen), the spaces behind their fullbacks will be there for Sonny and Lucas to exploit.

They will play with a trio in midfield most likely to be Fabinho, Henderson and Gini. Provided Eriksen can drop in when required, him Sissoko and Winks are more than capable of putting a shift in, and with any second balls, having 2 ball players in there will help us advanced the midfield third quicker than they’re used to playing against.

The back four I’ve gone with what I believe to our best available, even though it is a toss up between Aurier and Trippier.

I’ll probably have another view tomorrow :D

Eriksen, Dele and Kane have a strong understanding which has produced many of our goals over the last 3/4 years, so at some stage I expect them to be on the park. It all depends on Harry's fitness. We could start with a 4-2-3-1 with Dier at RB to counter Mane.

Dier. Toby. Jan. Rose

Winks. Sissoko
Eriksen. Dele. Son

Moura /. Llorente

Son can play a roving role looking to get in behind either of their full backs. If Moura starts he can occupy one of the flanks, most of their goals come from their backs, so pushing them back is key.

At some point introduce Kane, who could play drop deep at times to play in Dele or Son. Dele is a must, he is a big game player and like Eriksen he covered 14 kms in the second leg against Barca. He has the ability and running power to get behind their central defenders.

Surely poch would play aurier to counter mane, like he did in the home game last season when he started him at left back vs salah?

Aurier(Trippier) -Vertonghen-Toby-Rose

Winks-Sissoko

Eriksen-Dele-Son

Kane

Form is irrelevant at this point. I don't know why a game from 3+ weeks ago has to be considered when none of them will be match sharp.

As to some arguments that certain individual players deserve more to start than others: very debatable. Imo, all of our key players deserve to start based on their contributions so far (not just in terms of goals); it's the team effort that brought us here. Also this is the CL final. We can't base it all on a single game.

Since we are not privy to all the information such as their fitness levels and how well they are doing in training now etc, I will just make an assumption that all of them are fit to start. In which case we have to just go with our best XI imo which is also my preferred line up.

Too many times we have sleep walked into games this season. We simply can’t do that in the final. The players just don’t seem up for it from the first whistle. Sure we’ve had strong second half’s but I don’t believe we can go a goal behind in this one.

Winning the semi final was an amazing achievement but we are celebrating it (Poch and the club online) like we won a final, publically anyway. I think they need to tone it down now. The job isn’t done by a long way. For that reason I would definitely bring in those players who didn’t start the second Ajax game. Aurier, winks, Kane. The team needs that fresh injection of players.

I would play dele and Eriksen either side of sissoko, with Lucas and son either side of Kane, that way you prevent Robertson and Trent pushing forward, with 25 assist between them, only way to beat Liverpool, the last 2 away games we deserved something on both games, look at Southampton game, Trent is their big weakness defending which they exploited in the 1st half and I think Son could rip him a new one

If Winks is fully fit I can’t imagine how Poch wouldn’t start him over Wanyama. I think our poor form at the end of the season had a lot to do with no Winks - still seems far too underrated by many in here

Unfortunately despite the Hatrick if Kane is fit I would drop Moura but if Kane is only 75% would bring Kane off the bench

Personally I would consider Aurier over Trippier too if fit - both liable to mess things up but Auriers athleticism wins out for me in a back 4

For me Lucas has to start.
We need Sissoko and Wanyama in the midfield to cope with Liverpool.
The players who have been consistently below par are Eriksen and Alli, with Alli coming good last game.
Winks has been out the whole time, probably best on the bench. So we should play:
Lloris
Trippier Toby Verts Rose
Sissoko Wanyama
Lucas Alli Son
Kane
Or Kane behind Lucas and Son if not fully fit. Lucas and Son tracking back. Eriksen off the bench once one of them tires.

Eriksen is a guaranteed starter - literally plays every single game. Completely Unrealistic to think he wouldn’t play in the CL final

No time for sentiment ,this is it , this is the game we never dreamed we would be involved in, lets be honest...

Someone is gonna be upset, that is how it has to be unless you only have 11 good players.

Poch will know who is ready and will have to play the team that gives us the best chance to make history, No favourites, No thinking about who he may fuck off for the future, this is it, NO ONE is bigger than THFC, no one is bigger than the CL final.

Me, just for the sake of the thread....would play Son,Moura and Kane, with Sissoko Eriksen and Winks, Aurier Toby Jan Rose...... love Dele but i would leave him out for this one i'm afraid for him........ i think our best hope is to go for it,i think that's our best chance.
We have got this far when taking the shackles off and going for it in this campaign.

But i think Poch will play Tripps & Dele and sacrifice someone else, probably Aurier and Winks ,as to have 3 players back after such a long absence may be abit too risky for Poch.
