Sonny without a doubt and i have supported spurs for 35+ years.

Never as consistent as some of the other PL legends I'd agree, but not sure I can think of too many players that had such a big aura about them. What he definitely was though was a big moments player, seem to remember him scoring winning goals in something like 6 successive games in one title run in plus the the winner in the FA Cup final in the same year - then there was the iconic celebration after that chipped goal.

Agree mate always felt he lived in Kane's shadow now is his time to shine even more and has had a very good start to season.
My other favourites sre VDV, King and Dembele.
Kane went down in my estimation last couple of seasons with his angling for a move especially the City saga. Not entirely his fault though as unlikely winning anything under Mr Levy sadly.

Hard disagree. He was the missing piece of the puzzle for Ferguson in securing those first couple of titles, after he'd done exactly the same at Leeds the season before. He single handedly dragged Man Utd to their title win in 96.

He really was one of a kind.

I wouldn’t call him a wrecking machine though. What I loved what he did was he would draw two or three defenders to him and make them look absolutely silly, then flip the ball to Ericksen like, “OK, you got this now.”

For me it can only be Gazza as without him I would not have got into football and would not have ended up supporting us.

I have admired a few players since, but for me it has to come down to that reason alone.

I am a massive fan of Sonny btw and am proud that he has broken through the ceiling in terms of Asian players ever being able to be at the highest level. I did support Korea at the 94 WC when England didn't qualify. Korea being 3-0 down at half time with a certain Klinsmann who joined us that summer scoring a swivel goal. Then coming back to 3-2. That never say die, hard working spirit continued to define their players through subsequent years even with Lee Young Pyo who took care of our entire left flank and Sonny.

It’s telling for me that I prefer bale to Kane. Even though Kane stayed longer scored more and had the one of our own tag (he is a legend).

But for bales last season, and maybe if we include the moment from taxi for Maicon….ive never seen a player single handedly turn up and do 11/10 on a bad day. The left wing was his no matter who played right back - they were toast. A screamer or a goal was incoming. The other 21 players on the pitch were almost pointless because of his level every single week.

That feeling….maybe Hoddle and Greaves gave it to the older players. Not had it since.

Sorry but you’re talking about a pure myth. He scored 3 goals for Leeds in their title year. 3. This idea that he won the title for them is utter nonsense.

he was a good player, with an aura and an eye for a big goal (though never in Europe or for France as I said) but never as good as his legend and close to Gazza? No chance

Anderton (shock), underrated by many but was one of Englands star players in Venables Euro 96 campaign. Wand of a right foot and always gave his all. Also Bale, monster of a player.
