If som
No he wouldn't... He would want more because there's not a transfer fee to pay
If someone wanted to sign him now he and his agent would demand what they expect to get in the summer. Why wouldn't they ?

because all Russian players aren't the same?

Ignoring the fact that he isn't even russian I never understand why people do this? You never get people saying we shouldn't sign an english player because of a previous english player. They are treated like individuals as they should be.

It is entirely possible to be a Ukrainian national of Russian descent, as Russians make up a fairly large minority group. I don't know what is the case of this Konoplyanka, but there might be reason to lay off the sarcastic know-it-all act unless one actually do know it all. (y) There are for instance a town and other places in Russia named Konoplyanka.
Apart from that, I agree that whatever his background is, it shouldn't count against him.
Apart from that again, there have been numerous negative reports about his attitude.

Exciting prospect but plenty of doubts about his ability to adapt and reports of suspect attitude make me think that Boetius might be more of a Poch/Mitchell type signing. Most likely......no signing at all.

Yeah, but he's a Ukranian international making all the debate moot.;)

Since the topic has been rised, a bit of clearification:

Sergey Rebrov - an ukranian from the east part of Ukraine (the place where putin is bullying around right now), gives interview mostly on russian, has a russian lastname.

Roman Pavluchenko - a russian from the south part of Russia, has visible ukranian roots and an ukranian lastname.

Yevhen Konoplyanka - an ukranian from the central part of Ukraine, publically speaks russian, but has 110% ukranian name.

Personally, I feel like this signing would be a big deal of gambling (and despite the fair points above, one of the reasons is the fact that ex-ussr players rarely show something decent in the Premier League). Yevhen is a talented and quite confident piece of footballmeat, but I would be (pleasantly) surprised to see him playing above Nacir. Just a risky investment.

(Sorry for my grammar. Cheers!)

Not sure if this is Dnipro's official site, but:

http://fcdnipro.com/news/stetsenko-da-konopljanka-mozhet-ujti-v-rimskij-k-731.html

Rough translation:

Stecenko: Yes, Konoplyanka can go to Roma
Director-General of the Dnipro Andrei Stetsenko confirmed negotiations with Roma over the transfer of the Dnieper Eugene Konoplyanka.

"In fact, the Dnieper, and Roma are in talks about the transfer of Konoplyanka. The Clubs have almost agreed, but Jack ponders the possibility of changing the team. (don't know what that last bit is supposed to be!)

Yes, of course, the club is ready for such an eventuality and we have already signed a replacement winger , "- said Andrei Viktorovich for FCDNIPRO.COM.

Shame, but I wasn't really expecting us to pay actual money for him. Monopoly money maybe. Still got my doubts about his attitude and suitability to the English game, but Arshavin is often used as an example when talking about players from that part of the world, and although he faltered, he was brilliant when he first arrived.

Maybe Roma are playing mind games. "Sell us Vlad and we won't sign Kono".

Either way I'd be gutted if we miss out on him. Lets hope we're not putting all our eggs in one basket hoping to sign Depay. I can see double failure here!
