Would you accept paid work at one of our rival football clubs?

The first job interview I had upon leaving Uni was at Fulham FC, the interview took place in an office over looking the training pitch at Motspur Park. Was desperately hoping Martin Jol would be passing through reception at same time as me but alas.

Needless to say, I didn't get the job but if offered it I absolutely would've taken it!

This is one of those questions, where a significant number of people would probably reply "no effing way". But when it came to the crunch, and that pay check was wafted under your nose, then I guess our Spurs loyalty would have to be shelved.

But of course, how many of us would ever get that opportunity anyway?

To my eternal shame, I once decided not to apply for a pretty good job at Spurs, because of...........travelling every day from Sussex

I think a contractor job to pay the bills, yes. (eg builder/security/steward)

A job where I would actively have to promote the brand or was supposed to be improving the rival as a business/club - dont think so. Would have no job satisfaction and heart wouldn't be in it.

My first gig in London, Chelsea were a client (we built/hosted their customer database). Can't say I gave it much thought. Although legend has it that our head of division was invited to some Christmas function at Stamford Bridge, and being a Gooner, he took a slash on the pitch.

I’d take their money and spend it on my Spurs season ticket. What’s not to like?

I wonder how many would say yes to it themselves, but threw mud at Bale for considering that bumper payday in China? Or any player who moves for a bigger payday or opportunity?

I think the obvious difference is that we're talking about people who have mortgages or rent to pay and families to look after. Bale is already a multi, multi millionaire and moving to a crap league for more money just seems greedy.

The money he would potentially be earning can go on for generations and set up his family for life, nothing greedy about that.

Wouldn’t both me in the slightest and ifs role that spurs might want to employ me on later on the experience I’ll of gained from doing that job for another pl team, could sway it in my favour getting the job.

How many generations of his family would he need to set up for life? Believe it or not, many people like to make their own way and don't want to spend their lives being waited on hand and foot.

And many people like to be born into money, not really a big deal if he wants to create a legacy for his family and wants his great grandchildren to grow up wealthy.

My brother used to work for Fulham - I don’t think that it ever occurred to him as being a conflict of interest. I couldn’t criticise anyone for earning a crust. I probably would feel funny working for Arsenal, Chelsea or West Ham but that’s just a personal opinion. Again, everyone has the right to earn a crust and i wouldn’t berate anyone for it.
