Worst bunch of strikers ever to grace the PL?

This question came up in the office where I work today:

Does anyone know which team has had the worst set of strikers in PL history?

I think our lads have 9 goals between them, but that stat is coloured by the fact that VDV has played just behind the front 2 (and he's got 10 league goals)

Anyway, anyone know?

PS Mods, if you want to move this to General Football, go for it

Was the season under Graham where we had to watch Ginola and Anderton providing wonderful service to the hapless Rebrov and Iverson in the EPL? That was quite comparable with now, though now is worse.

Under-achieving perhaps but by no way the worst.
I can't remember who Hull or whatever side who got relegated had but I believe ours are better.
Unfortunately Crouch has convinced himself he's a human assist machine for VDV and Defoe seems to have completely lost it.
I think if Pavs were at a lower club which was built round and he played regularly he'd be on 20+ goals.
I'm sure if he was played whenever he was fit for us and some people had more confidence in him he'd have that tally too.
I was in the bookies last night and they were advertising their odds on Crouch for the first goal when they were describing his European record it sounded awesome but he just don't cut it for me.

An overreaction perhaps but I'm in no mood to correct you.

Our strikers blow.

Forest in Clough's last season were pretty fucking shite. They even signed Robert Rosario on deadline day in an attempt to keep them up.

Swindon probably had some duffers as well...although who was that striker they had?...Jan Aage Fjortoft...I guess they had one decent forward.

So far this season our strikers are on:

Pav - 7 goals
Crouch - 2 goals
Defoe - 2 goals

So basically if it wasn't for Pav (Harry's least preferred striker) our strikers would be doing worse than Derby.

Was going to see if this was our lowest goals at home season ever but in 08/09 we only got 21 in the league. 40 last season and 46 in 07/08.

You could argue we have the worst set of right Backs too

yes you could argue that. You could also argue that the moon is made of pubic hair and that Adolf Hitler is currently holed up in the Earth's core with Elvis and Chris Kiwomya.

You'd be equally wrong on both points but yes you could argue it.

Oh and here are some *not better than our lot* strikers in the prem that are scoring better than any of ours:

Bent - 13 goals
Nolan - 10 goals
Dempsey - 10 goals
Elmander - 10 goals
Odemwingie - 10 goals
Cahill - 9 goals
DJ Campbell - 9 goals
Gyan - 9 goals
Kevin Davies - 7 goals
Ebanks-Blake - 7 goals
Rodallega - 7 goals

Seriously when DJ Campbell and Kevin Nolan up front score more almost twice as many premier league goals as Crouch, Pav and Defoe combined you know there's a problem.

Thankfully Bale and VDV have chipped in with some goals (17 between them) this season, otherwise we would be on a low amount of total goals and probably be sitting towards the bottom of the premier league table right now.

Its amazing how Pav doesn't get more game time. If he started all of our next 8 league games you should see him end the season with a goals return of 12 league goals. Still very poor but you could say its still just about acceptable

Crouch has scored 1 LEAGUE GOAL IN 13.5 GAMES. If I played 27 games for Spurs I could get at least 2

It's wrong to compare the strikers of a very poor Derby to our current lot.

Derby didn't have Bale, Lennon, and Modric in their team.

To put this piss poor performance as a striker in context, the following players have all scored more premier league goals than him this season:

Ryan Nelson, John Terry, Leighton Baines, Gary Cahill, Ciaran Clark, Brede Hangeland, Branislav Ivanovic, Robert Huth, Seamus Coleman, Christopher Samba, Nemanja Vidic.

Yes they are all defenders! Eek

If we can somehow get 4th with the shower of shit we have upfront we can attract top quality strikers to replace the lot
