Very tight game, and maybe not surprisingly it took a set piece to settle it. Belgium went a bit left-field with their shape and to me it looked like they needed to completely dominate the ball and centre of the pitch for it to work - but, despite having spells, they never really managed that. France probably looked the more dangerous in the final third, were solid and organised, and once they'd nicked the goal they were ultra resilient and managed the latter minutes pretty well.

Kante, Matuidi and Pogba basically neutralized Belgium's attacking mids and forwards. Didn't allow them space, cut off the flanks and passing channels and just blunted any momentum. Scary the options France have in the middle of the park.

Chadli's delivery was awful, Dembele was just awful. Belgium made a good fist of playing with 9.5 men for a large chunk of the game but spent far too much playing facing their own goal, France stifled them, nicked a goal and that was pretty much that. What's Belgian for 'this one's on Martinez'?
