I’ve seen a lot of people suggest a 352 and while I think it may suit us better, I really don’t think Conte will play it now.

He spends months prepping his system and drilling every inch of it in to the players. I would be stunned if he switches from the 343 he is now drilling, to a 352.

So I think it’s best to assume we will primarily look to play 343 under him.

To be fair RS was totally bossing it in the Championship in all sorts of positions and at a very young age.

It was worth the punt.
You could tell he was a coward from watching him in the prem for Fulham. He just doesn't have the belief, in what I believe is his rather limited ability. I hope I'm wrong, but he look's so gormless

Probably best for everyone

I would most welcome this, coming from a respectable news outlet too (also we know they were very interested in the summer, Ten Hag also openly mentioned his name on 2 occasions they were trying from him). Only issue here could be the fee, their highest ever transfer fee paid was Seb Haller for just under £21M.

I've said it a few times now and people are naturally pessimistic due to previous windows but he will be backed and we will give him the resources to complete a squad overhaul.

If anyone thinks this wasn't discussed when we got in touch with him initially, along with targets, then they're very wrong. He hasn't only now just realised the lack of quality. The only thing the past few weeks has cemented for him is the overall application and attitude of some players and the obvious lack of quality of several players.

It's going to be a tough season, but once these players start arriving, it is going to be very exciting.

As much as I believe the Conte+ Fabio partnership is going to be a major pull for many of the top payers we'll be chasing in the January and summer windows, not being involved in a major European campaign the following season is going to be a major turn-off for them.

It's looking highly unlikely we're going to qualify through the league stage of the European Dustbin League, so if we don't manage to secure a top 4 or 6 spot by the end of May, things are going to look quite bleak for us.

I'm usually an optimistic sort of chap (after any knee-jerk reactions), but the train crash I watched last Thursday at NS Mura has made me quite fearful about our chances of any real long term success.

People overvalue experience. I’d much rather a very talented young player than an experienced player that has already got his ceiling. That’s what made us good in the first place. We’ve got it wrong the last few of summers but I still fully believe it is the way forward.
I definitely agree we need to target younger players, but we can’t forget that the Naybet effect can still be helpful. For an ample demonstration of the quality of experience look at Italy’s Euro final CBs: so much made about England’s pacy young team but they barely troubled the two old geezers who could read them like a book.

I wouldn’t be remotely sad to see the following leave in the next two windows:

Languid Lo Celso
Non-event Ndombele
Wankbucket Winks
Dalmationshit Dele
Beef burger Bergwijn
Dead legs Doherty
Discombobulated Dier

It’s possible I’m bored

Funny, Di Marzio says that we want younger players so probably won't get De Vrij and this report is the exact opposite
Di Marzio was literally at the training ground this week with Conte, Paratici and Del Piero so you can take whatever he says as close to gospel as it gets.

Not sure how reliable but looks like United are also looking at him.

If we can get him in January , I’d rather we do so as we’d have a lot more bigger competitors for him in the summer.

If we could sign him on a pre-contract on January 1st at 12.01 am before anyone else can get their grubby claws into him, that would be very good.

Is he as likely to be spreading disinformation as he is gospel? If he's their pal, he'll just report what they want reported and not necessarily the truth.

The only one I'd question out of that lot is Dier, who's not been too bad of late, but the rest of them could all sod off and we'd never even notice them gone.

And you missed off Gormless Gollini.

He'll get good stuff as a reward for helping the club with nonsense before and during the Transfer Window. The problem for us is telling the difference unless one of our own ITKs backs up the stories/gossip.

Agree. If he reports things they don’t want being public they’ll never deal with him again in such close proximity.

Could easily have added those two names yes. Fantastic players. Whether either are possible in January idk, with Ajax looking strong in the CL and Raphinha needed for a possible relegation battle. Personally don’t think Szoboszlai is possible in January yet though as he’s only been at Leipzig for 1 year (only played for 5 months), and I mentioned him. If either Antony or Raphinha are possible, though, Raphinha would immediately be my first choice.

But they are seemingly sweet for Bergwijn (weirdos) so that could help?

I think there’s a good few a head of Dier to leave.

Possibly yes. But for his reputation he’ll not say we’re not signing Kessie in Jan and then it happens and he looks silly.

Makes me sad when one of my very favourite posters says things I don't agree with.

He would if he's getting bigger scoops down the line. Anyway, let's see, there's no actual way to know

I would happily take someone industrious but older like Luis Muriel (who I've been a fan of for years). We can't afford a complete rebuild with all young talents, unfortunately. We will need to make some sacrifices, and I'd rather sacrifice resell value than quality.
