I'm not an advocate for this but I will take anyone that improves our squad so that we don't end up in the same situation as we did before the lockdown.
He'll want at least a 2 year deal and will want big wages. We also already have Son, Lucas, Lamela, Sissoko and Bergwijn competing for those positions, along with arguably Sessegnon, Alli, Fernandes and Lo Celso. Maybe even Ndombele if he plays centrally.

Given our paucity of money, his lack of sell on value, his twattish character, age and general inconsistency on the pitch (my Chelsea mates are happy to see the back of him)...

I just reckon we could use that money far more wisely elsewhere: DM, RB, CB, ST are all much more problem positions for us right now

That said if Jose really really wants him then fine - I'll shut my mouth and give him the benefit of the doubt.

We need players who can affect a game. Without Son and Kane the likes of Lamela and Moura were ineffective.
Willian can affect games and I'd bring him in to rotate with Bergwijn who looks like a real prospect.
I'd then be tempted to bin off one or even both of Moura and Lamela to fund someone who can rotate with Son (assuming Sess is not ready yet).
We haven't got the money to buy two top class wide men so if we can get a decent freebie for a couple of seasons we need to bite the bullet.

While there wouldn't be a transfer fee apparently he's on 120k a week at Chelsea and I imagine he'd want something similar or higher at Spurs if this is his last big contract.

Can we really afford to drop that much on a player who would by no means be a guaranteed starter when we have massive holes at fullback and DM? Especially when he isn't even homegrown.

I agree with your point regarding priorities but I don't agree wages are a problem.

If we paid our entire 25 man squad £120,000 a week it would still only come to around a third of our turnover (obviously pre-covid) so I don't see wages as much of an issue once things settle.

As a result we could chuck this kind of wage on Willian which would provide decent back-up/rotation with no outlay.

Then any available transfer money, or sales from outgoings, could be used where we may have to pay more to prise key players away (DM, RB ,and LB).

I feel we were just as exposed from having no attacking back up this season as we were from struggling to stop the opposition.
And if we don't fix both issues over the Summer we will still struggle next season (unless we are lucky with injuries).

To the proven winner mentality argument: Works out brillant for Scum and David Luiz.

...or John OShea and Sunderland a few years back ;)

Just because you won a lot doesnt always mean you bring that to another team. Willian strikes me in no way as a leader in the locker room.

Please Spurs dont make this happen.

I think people may be forgetting we probably won’t have a pot to piss in this transfer window and slinging someone like him on a free who is still a very good player and ripped us apart this season at home should be a no brainer for me. Jose knows exactly the type of person he is aswell
