have to hope that’s it’s this bloke, seems most realistic seeing as the alternative is at a club we have no boardroom relationship with, think he’d be a good fit in the short term without blocking a future path to the first team for parrott

Well whoever thinks that at the club is thick as pig shit.
Yep but not surprising whatsoever

Would you rather pay £x now for a 6/10 striker, or resist and pay £xx in the summer to sign an 8/10 striker?

To put it another way, signing someone for any amount now who isn’t any better than a stopgap will affect our ability to sign a genuinely high quality option in the summer.

Piatek on loan makes sense, Piatek for £30m does not. Giroud for 18 months make sense, or Willian Jose, with Parrott hopefully ready to really push Kane by the time I jay deal ends. But if such deals aren’t available we shouldn’t be held to ransom.

Him suddenly being dropped from their match day squad despite the manager talking about him coming back in surely indicates something.

Hope so mate, really think we need a focal point to our attacks, even if that focal point isn’t capable of much, our other attacking players will thrive from it and will make it much easier to keep the ball in attacking areas

Our only viable option left in my opinion and to be honest think he would be our best option . His style and physical presence is just the Jose type of forward he likes to use in the premier league .

I greatly respect your ability to remain optimistic, I do. I just don't see us going for a hypothetic better striker than we're looking at now when we'll be back to "Kane wants to play every game". I also don't see us spending more money than we're looking at with these guys when in the Summer we should hopefully be after a DM, RB, LB & CB... I fail to see under this ownership that they're willing to do what is needed.

For me this Summers actions were doing the minimum to keep Poch and the bigger players happy and they've been opportunistic this winter. I really like the Bergwijn signing and have little to no opinion of Gedson.

We need to finish in the champions league mate. Clubs are right to take us ransom, they aren't stupid and know that a decent striker could make or break our top 4 bid. Poor maintenance of the squad got us here and in the summer time Kane will be fit again, we wont need a striker because Son or Bergwijn or whoever's can play there and then the following January we're having the same debate.

Giroud is going to Lazio by all accounts, so hopefully this is the loan JJ is talking about (with an option to buy which I’m presuming Sociedad want)

More than optimistic, I just remember how happy I was with the Janssen signing and how awful that

I actually don’t believe finishing outside the top 4 the once will be that damaging.

I agree, we are not neck and neck so it's not like if we buy him we can count on the CL money.

Not by a South American club. But by the Stellar agency. Which is owned/run by Jonathan Barnett (Bale's agent). He and Levy get on so I don't think that is an issue.

Would not surprise me if Barnett is involved in this deal somewhat.

I was about to ask how reliable the Athletic have been saying this is their first transfer window? Not very going by that!

I don't think any media sources have been on the money. Anyone we've signed has been a bit out of nowhere so far
