It's called negotiating ffs.

Blimey, seems I was in the minority on this one.

I personally think offering less than half of the asking price is low balling, particularly when the asking price is relatively low for a good player in today's market, but hey, what do I know.

I may also be feeling particularly sensitive due to my frustration of getting low ball offers when selling stuff on Facebook marketplace ;)

Why’s this deal reportedly imminent when we keep getting told Piatek is 1st choice and Jose doesn’t fit what Mourinho is after... it screams of cheap bargain basement over Piatek at £30m, which in today’s market is still cheap.
How is Jose not what Mourinho is after? His playing style is the one Jose has used for most of his center forwards.

If Levy's low balls got any lower he'd have a voice like Barry White

Originally I thought, 'oh 'ere we go' - another moneyball signing... but having watched a couple of highlights reels I can only conclude that he's ridiculously good in the air. I also like that he can score from range with both feet too.

Personally I'd like him, but only as a 3rd choice striker, behind kane and piatek (as we're obviously not getting a dybala type striker). Under 20m and it's a good deal.

Haha yeah, I feel you on that one.

It's a case of who blinks first, and I think as long as we have options (Piatek), the pressure is on Sociedad.

He’s said he wants a long term player not a short term solution. Jose is 28, has a mediocre record and he’s an average player with no special qualities. He’s basically a stocking filler. We need either quality, potential or players in their low to mid 20s who can have an impact with scope to improve. Jose isn’t any of these. Piatek is a much better player.

If he has 3rd party ownership this feels like a waste of time. We've been stung by this exact scenario many times before

Probably a reason why, easy to come out as a get out clause excuse why we didnt buy .... spurs always seem to employ this startegy lol although this time its a player who is well a sort of nobody

Respectfully disagree. 55 goals in 144 La Liga games is far from mediocre. That is perfectly fine.

He is a strong central forward that aside from shipping in with a decent amount of goals creates space for his teammates to score by sucking up attention from the defenders. Like Mourinho has utilized Milito, Benzema, Drogba and Lukaku previously. 28 is not retirement age either. He'll have a good 3-4 years left in him at a top level that also buys us time to bed in Troy and give him some good experience out on loan.

We aren't looking to replace Kane, rather complement him. A striker that can chip in with an extra 5-10 goals a season like Origi does for Liverpool or Jesus at City.

I've watched a fair few Sociedad games this season (to keep track of their resident Swede) and I think José would fit our style of play more than Piatek at this time. That's not saying that Piatek is bad. But I think that Willian is a far more complete forward in his overall play.

He has a Brazilian trick in him to go with his target man physic . Definitely an upgrade on Jansen. It’s always a gamble bringing in a player like this little known no stand out goal scoring record, but playing with players running off him like son and Lucas , the creativity of dele and In particularly lo celso who I think will be a great signing and will only get better .

it’s very possible he could turn out a shrewd signing by Jose and adapt himself in this league playing with better players than he probably ever has done .

Me likey.

Loves a backheel. Also appears to be totally two footed. Good in the air, can pick out a pass.

On this evidence he looks to be a more well rounded player than Piatek, although the latter is probably a more natural finisher.

If I had to choose I'd take Willian Jose over Piatek but I'd be more than happy with either...............or both.
