I said this in the bale thread. Probably should go here. I wonder if we were meeting Barnett today over this guy and not bale?

Would be a good signing imo, as he gives us what we need for the rest of this season, and he'd be a good backup for Kane in the next. Not for €50m, though.

Lol as if people believe we are paying 50m for this guy. Clearly we just need a vaguely decent body to occupy the space left by Kane, so this seems like a logical signing. Be nice if we signed at least one player to improve the 1st team before Feb though.

Some more from Real Sociedad fans on Twitter:

*he have the heart of the lion, and the toe of the turtle*

*when Jose wakes up, he puts his balls in the net. But when he sleep, the balls are with the wind*

*fuck Jose, and fuck to his wig plant*

From the videos he looks slow as a carthorse and pretty terrible with his feet but he does look pretty amazing in the air. Llorente was useless in both aspects so it's an upgrade at least.

Players who ‘would improve the first team’ aren’t easily attainable in Jan.

Buying prolific spanish league strikers doesn't work for us, so maybe getting a 'meh' one might.

In all seriousness, strikers are weird. You can get some like Soldado/Kramaric/Shevchenko who smash them in in other leagues, but are dross in the PL. You can also get some which are 'meh' in other leagues, but suddenly do well in the PL (Drogba might sneak into that category).

Some players are suited to certain leagues/teams - we probably don't know if someones going to be good for us until they sign and play.

Raul Jimenez had a bad/meh goal ratio in Portugal and Spain league

I bet there are quite a few, but we don't always see it from that angle. Pukki didn't seem to be prolific in Germany or Scotland, and Salah was no where near the goalscorer he is in the PL when he was in Italy.

A lot of people on here moaning about this signing, and I know next to f-all about him myself but he looks like he could be handy.

However what I would like to know is (if anyone can tell me) Has Jose ever signed a bad player? I mean a complete out & out dud! He doesn't have a bad eye for a player and some of his signings have been maybe a bit leftfield but most have worked right?
I'm seeing shades of the Diego Milito signing when he was at inter, of course Milito had a much better scoring record but he was an ageing journeyman when he arrived (about 31 I think) and came for a hefty fee (at the time) which i believe the Inter board were unwilling to sanction at first until Jose put his foot down.
