Lloris
Walker - Dawson - Vert - Esso
Dempsey? - Parker/siggy? - Dembele - Bale
Ada/Defoe/Dempsey

Have to say dont see how this works or where they fit in - I think it will take a while to see, and as usual we will be playing catch up - this all = not great season

i agree, can't see 4-4-1 working all that well.

I would say we have greater depth in this years squad with more players that can cover in more than one position, we do lack in that top quality that we had in Modric.

When in comes to VdV I do not see him leaving as such a big loss, don't get me wrong I love the guy and have done since the Ajax days, but since I have seen him play all his career I do feel he did not really come up to his higest standard last season and I think it has to do with his family situation. I think that we will see a different VdV in Hamburg this season than the VdV we say last season.

The only area I am abit concernd with is the strikers, I would have loved to see LD come in as he looked really good during the olympics. Lets hope we go for him in Januari!;)

For me, i was gutted to see both Modders and VdV leave, i just didnt see like for like and quality for quality signings available in our price range. Modders was gone mentally second half of last season so meh, and VdV looks like he went for family reasons.
The window was a good window and while we may not have the same quality in certain individual players we have bought in players that are quality.
Honest truth is apart from a couple of games in the Euros ive never seen Mouts play and therefore i dont feel this burning resentment of some fans to burn Mr Levy as a wich for whatever reason we didnt manage to complete the transfer.
Im on the side of In Levy i trust mainly because i dont have a fekking clue how to run a football club and while he has made some mistakes by and large he has steered this club towards the horizons at a very respectable rate of knots.

We all know we have lost three of our best players (King, VDV & Modric) in one window, for different reasons, which again we all know.
However we have brought in six players who should make a difference to the squad. I like what I've seen of MD & JV already and if CD can put the ball in the net as often for us as he did for Fulham then great. The most important thing now is for AVB to organise our team so that the sum is greater than the individual parts, if he can do this then we should be in for a very enjoyable season. Chin up Wexford COYS.

We definitely have alot of goals in our team with Siggurrdson, Dempsey, Adebayor, Bale all recognised prem goalscorers.

BTW does anyone know if Siggurdson was a player AVB wanted or just a someone the club had already decided to buy before we appointed AVB.

So you think that we have upgraded VDV and MODD in this window? siggy is upgrade for who?, dembele is upgrade for who, dempsey is upgrade for who? ADE we had last year on loan? Please supply the answers and slap accepted!

How much do you thing upgrades would be for those two? Modric is going to be the heartbeat of real Madrid! If there was a cheaper better alternative out there do you not think they would have bought him! VDV is great but coming to the end, I give him another year two tops of playing the way he does with his injuries. So we have tried to buy players who potentially replace.

I think some need to really think about the situation we are in

Dembela for modric! Dempsey for VDV! - have we made progress ?? I don't think so - French GK, probably an upgrade on what we had, but not priority - sigg upgrade for Hudd? Vert upgrade for King? - overall not a brilliant window - Mout would have made the diff, but as per................we don't quite make it past the post....usual shit, man city sign 50/60m worth - Bennayoun and Carroll at west ham, huge upgrade to team for little money, would have taken both myself:-(
Loose, VDV, Modric, Rose, WTF
Keep (again) JJ, Bentley, etc
Bad window for me sorry
What you don't seem to be grasping is that the players in are not meant to be like for like replacements.

Lloris is a priority. Friedel is 41, Carlo is 37, Gomes has been injured/unavailable forever and Button was sold. So, within a year maximum we'd need a new set of goalies. We now have 1 of the top goalies in world football. That's a good thing. It's a priority because the player is fast off his line, can act as a sweeper, is a class act and players like that become available once and then never again.

Man Utd wanted Rooney but wanted to wait a year, Newcastle (via an agent!) came in and Man Utd had to act. Not a priority but better doing it then than missing out.

Dembele, Dempsey and Sigurdsson are replacing Modric and Van Der Vaart, but not directly replacing. It requires a shift in the set up. I would have thought this was obvious.

Dembele has already scored. He is strong, composed and technically good. He won't do the same thing as Modric did for the team, nor should you expect him to. Next to Sandro, who will hunt down and win the ball, Dembele will link the play and chip in with goals in a different way to Modric (remember his pathetic shooting 95% of the time?).

Sigurdsson won't need to be substituted after 60 minutes every game. He has shown in pre-season and for Swansea (and Hoffenheim and Reading!) that he has good delivery, good shooting and will create and score.

Dempsey has been a consistently high scorer in a very average Fulham side. Hard working, determined, scores free kicks, tap ins and when he was linked to Liverpool at 15m people were like 'good player, he'll do well...' but now he's at us for 6m. Even better, right?! He can play several different positions and contribute from all over the pitch.

This is what the signings do - contribute from all over the pitch. Put Modric on the right and he's out of the game, put VDV on the left and he's out of the game. Even if it is just for 20 minutes at the end of a game.

Just noticed you would have taken Benayoun and Carroll for Spurs... but you consider the players we did sign as a bad window?

Righto. Good trolling. Unless you're serious, then I am concerned.
