Zaha will add a totally different dimension to our game.

The ability to run at pace with the ball and beat a man is something we haven't had for quite some time.
Something totally different? That’s interesting considering we already have what he offers in our attack with 2 better players. Son and Lucas are better than Zaha. People need to stop being blinded by a shiny new player and big fees. Its wild how many people overrate Zaha. So what he was Palace’s best player? Means nothing. We have 2 players who are better than him that offer the same thing.

Who says we are upgrading him?

We need someone who can play wide forward to rotate in and out with Lamela,Son and Lucas as an injury to one means we are short there! But also the same for Kane. Getting Zaha means he can cover all those positions with getting enough game time in each to not have someone or two players sitting on the bench or not even on the bench alot of the time.

Son could also still end up having to leave for around 2 years to do his service.
There’s no way we just gave Son a five year contract if there’s any chance of him having to do military service in that time IMO.

Zaha would be a great addition, hope we progress this deal.

With every post you make about Zaha you show you have not watched him even more clearly. Son does not offer what Zaha does in wing play.

Unless there’s a provision in the contract in the event Son has to leave for military service.

Son, Moura...?

lets be honest, we've seen nothing of Moura in a Spurs shirt yet.

Son.. pace, Yep.. can run in behind all day.. top draw when it comes to finishing too...

I'm just of the opinion that Zaha, with pace & power, coupled with being able to take on a player, be it running with the ball or from a standing start, doing something unpredictable will provide that something extra in games where we struggle to potentially beat a man and create an opening.

When we struggle to break teams down, we rarely seem to be able to beat a man that stands us up, or when teams sit deep. Having someone that can drop a shoulder and create something in that 5 yards of space and make a delivery, seems like a good option to have.

Exploiting space in behind, Son + Zaha together would be a tasty option to have. Its all opinions. I would actually prefer us to be spending big money on a Centre Midfielder - but IF we are looking at Zaha, I think he would be a good signing.

If we end up buying this guy I just hope we finally actually play with two of these wide men more often.

while variety is good I do understand the questions around squad places.

if you assume we play a max of 3 AM's (recognise some can be dropped to CM but not for our best games).

1. Eriksen 9/10 likelihood to start
2. Dele 7.5/10 likelihood to start
3. Son 7/10 likelihood to start (9/10 if in form)
4. Llamela 6/10 likelihood to start (8/10 if in form)
5. Lucas 5/10 likelihood to start (??/10 if in form)

Recognise 2 per role is good, but that's some serious time on the bench for more than one quality player. assuming someone is dropped for Zaha

progress is progress.

For me if we get Zaha in the following players would be at the top of the pecking order when it comes to a starting position in:

1: Eriksen
2: Dele
3/4: Zaha or Son who will battle it out for left wing and bench role
5: Lucas who I think will alternate with Dele's position on the pitch
6: Lamela offering backup to RW and Eriksens stop for injuries, fatigue or suspensions.

Personally I don't have Lamela ahead of Lucas in the pecking order. I think Lucas will be ahead of him when looking at options on the right

Well I guess its more about replacing Llorente with a more versatile option as we can acquire no real no. 9 that can surpass or challenge Kane anyway.
Add Kane to the list of your players and its at the moment 6 players for 4 positions and that is a bit too weak for a team that wants to compete in three competitions. Especially as half of them have long World Cups in their legs and a big injury to one can always happen, which would have us short in quality.

Of course there are still Llorente, Janssen, NKoudou and Sissoko in the squad who can fill in but I dont think we are looking forward to include them too much. As long as they are paid though they are somehow a part....

I would argue having those attacking players excluding Zaha and Lucas cost us dear last season. We were without Kane, Coco and Son for periods and struggled at a time when rotation and varying options were vital. That November cost us dear.

We must be the only fan base going who can’t understand why our club wants to back the manager in signing a top attacking wide player the’s wanted for seasons. Our downfall over the last 3 seasons has been our strength in depth. Now with whatever formation we go with each ATT player has the flexibility to play in multiple positions. Also factor in this season a higher risk of key players getting injured due to longer summers and shorter recovery times. Options of Eriksen Dele Lamela Son Lucas Kane and adding Zaha Grealishwill see us being more competitive on all fronts & More than good enough to win a trophy. No fucking brainer.

I agree those would be my top
3 generally. BUT they all offer something different, for example Lamela’s defensive work would put him ahead of Moura for certain games. I think all would get plenty of game time, and it would be fantastic to have some real threat from the bench

Fully agree. I find it hard to imagine Citeh fans were bemoaning the addition of another attacking midfielder in Mahrez. This is the team that walked the league with an abundance of attacking midfielders and then tops it up with another. Strength in depth and then some.

Yeah why dont we just do what Citae do?
Seriously people!

No one is saying we can or should spend what City spend. People are saying it makes sense to have plenty of options, and that in fact a wealth of options is a recipe for success, as shown by last year's deserving title winners (who, if we have the proper ambition, we should be making an effort to catch).

This 100%. Also worth adding that last year we were so dependent on Kane and Eriksen, to the point that we really could not rest them. There were times last season where some of our top guys looked visibly knackered. I think we have to be proactive about resting guys at times for their long term well-being, especially this post-WC season, and that makes added depth even more important.

Edit: Not saying Zaha alone is at all a suitable replacement for Chris or Kane (though he might be a better ST spell for Kane than Sonny in cup/smaller matches), but noting the importance of depth in our transfer strategy.

OK I've decided, we need to sign Zaha. He's about to come into his peak and is an absolute unit. Pochettino likes him and I think he needs to be signed this summer. Time to make him target number 1 with 16 days left. Time to get the deal done after years of umming and aaahhing. He keeps getting better the more we put the deal off as the years go on! Make this one happen now and give Pochettino the player he's always wanted
