Not an upgrade on Son so I couldn't care less whether we sign him or not, if we do it better not be for much past 30 mil as while he may be worth a lot more than that at market, he's not even worth that to us. He is not a 50 million pound upgrade on any of our midfielders, I'd rather stick Trippier at RW than pay through the nose for Zaha.

If people are basing their opinion of Zaha on having watched him prior to this season then it is understandable of they have a less than positive view . Understandable but wrong.

Last season Zaha matured and transformed his game. He had always been fast and skillful, but horribly wasteful as well with little end product. I would have been against us spending serious money on the old Zaha. Last season under Hodgson however he developed into a player who could be almost impossible to play against on his day. I think Poch would improve him even further. I don't even think he is a riskier purchase than the likes of Martial or Pulisic. Whichever one we get i'll be happy (y).
I watched him play several matches last season - he was woefully inconsistent.

He has pace, and a bit of talent. And when he bothered he could create problems. But, too often, for a player in his price range, he could not be bothered to put in the effort. And his best attributes - using his pace to get in behind a defender will be wasted while we are passing the ball around in our possession-based tactics.

He does not have a great end product, and he is not one who will dance around in tight spaces.

I will certainly support him if he comes here, but I'll be disappointed because it means we lost out on a better option.

Why are some people so hung up on what we pay? It's not like your going to have to start cutting back on the shopping is it :D

Whatever it is we pay, if the club think it's worth it, then I don't see why what the price is is an issue for anyone. People keep on about Daniel Levy being this financial genius with a massive cock, well if he's that, then whatever he pays, obviously he feels it's value and that the club can afford it or he'll structure the deal on favourable terms, either way, he won't pay it if the club can't do it, if he does, then he's backing the manager I suppose, something we're all calling for him to do and from what we hear, Poch really wants him.

I think it's because for every million we spend on a Zaha, it's a million less to spend on someone that will actually improve our squad? Assuming the "war chest" actually has a bottom which I happen to think is a pretty fair assumption to make.

He’s better than Son.

Its only a factor in terms of opportunity cost - however much we spend on Zaha is money that can't be spent elsewhere. And if Zaha is £60M - then its the opportunity cost of getting a different £60M player.

I think there are better uses of that money. Zaha feels like a different version of Sissoko - looks good elsewhere, but won't have the same impact for Spurs.

Regretfully, Daniel has not asked for my input...

Another million to spend on a player YOU want, meanwhile, our manager wants this one.

We won't spend the money to get him. I would like him here but 60-70m is out of our price range. Plus he's going to want 120-150k a week.

Absolutely, I am happy to confirm that I am speaking MY opinion and NOT that of our manager, in case anyone was confused.

I wasn't aware that there were some sort of arrangement where we had to agree with Pochettino on everything. He's a pro, he sees things I don't, which is made even more obvious in this case as I can not for the life of me understand what Zaha brings compared to our already existing options. I feel like he'd be a strong counter attacking player in a squad who's more often than not faced with teams parking the bus.

I don’t think we will either but if we do then great, if Pochettino wants him and Levy can do it, then it isn’t the problem some people make it out to be.

How does it go again? In Levy we thrust?

Would any team spend £70m on him though? Surely even the likes of Chelsea would baulk at that price.

He fucked up signing the first contract without putting a reasonable release fee in there. Thats the only way these players can get their move without the smaller club asking for ridiculous money.

Good point. If he gets stroppy though and demands a move, it will make life difficult for Palace. But yeah, they've every right to ask for an inflated fee.
