An outlay of £31.15m over the last 4 windows is pitiful for a so called big club imo. You can't simply curve fit the last two windows to suit your argument. we spent NOTHING in two windows prior to last summer (and boy did we pay the price for that folly)

I’m amazed you are ignoring that we’ve spent £400M on the new stadium in the last few years.

Yep. Look at the players we have brought in.

Ndombele, Sessgnon, Lo Celso, Bergwijn, Fernandes

All have come at a significant outlay

Absolutely - probably 150M net especially if you include the coaching change.

Ultimately it is the billion dollar question though - was that spending spree purely down to the Champs Lge windfall, or truly a signal of a changed paradigm with the new stadium?

We easily have another 150M of needs to get this squad transformation even close to compete (DM, FB, CB and striker at a minimum, talk of Eze as well).

Unless we are going to sell one of Kane/Son/Dele/GLC/Tanguy, we have very few players who will generate any material outgoing transfer fees.

We could put a pu pu platter together with a few excess pieces, but the way we hold out for insane prices will make that tough. Rose will be around 10M best case. Foyth and KWP in that same ballpark maybe (depends on how KWP does on loan). Can’t see Dier fetching more than 15-20M if he’s sold. Lamela and Sissoko would maybe each be around 15M, but I don’t think we can sell both of those guys without creating another gap to plug. Maybe 50M total coming in in an optimistic scenario?

I think players who JM has either not used, loaned out or used sparingly will leave ...

Vorm
Rose
Verts
Wanyama
Foyth
KWP
Possibly Skipp
Possibly Dier

And I think Jose will want to bring in:

A CB
A DCM
A back up target man / CF

GK:
Lloris, Gazza, youth

Defenders:
Aurier, Tanganga, Toby, New CB, Sanchez, Davies, Sessegnon

CM:
Gedson, Lo Celso, Ndombele, Winks, Sissoko, New DCM

AM:
Son, Moura, Bergwijn, Dele, Lamela, Parrot

CF:
Kane, New CF

There are those that are obviously gonna leave by mutual consent. Then there may be one or two surprises of players wanting to leave. That's what i worry about. Guys like Harry and Son i can see contemplating a move if we finish outside the top 4, go trophyless again, and a big, big team from Europe (Bayern, PSG, Real, Barca) come a calling. The latter two teams perhaps being the only teams Harry would even consider playing for, should he want to leave. Can't see him wanting to play anywhere else.

Saddest thing about this thread is that everybody seems to accept that Jan Vertonhen is going, nobody wants him to go yet after Wednesday we understand it. If it is the end for him at Spurs I hope to God we give it everything to get a trophy this season, that would be a fitting finale.

It’s always possible, for me I think most of these players seem to be bought into the Mourinho project enough to give it a year, especially given Harry’s injury problems and Son and Dele’s patchy form. If next year goes south, though, there could be a serious exodus.

All the obvious outgoings have been mentioned.

I'd also say that Lamela will probably be replaced with Eze; there was ITK that the latter visited the training ground a couple of weeks ago.

The biggest surprise might be the sale of Alli. Jose seems to favour a 4-3-3 with 2 wide pacy attackers and 3 athletic midfielders.

Currently, the wide players would/could be Son, Moura, Bergwijn, Eze (and possibly Sessegnon).

The midfielders would/could be Lo Celso, NDombele, Gedson, Winks, Sissoko (I think we'll end up keeping him) and 1 or 2 more.

Jose will either need to work out how to adapt his formation to fit Alli in, or Alli will need to adapt his playing style to fit Jose's formation.

But if a Man Utd, or whoever, came along with a heft bid, there would be a huge temptation to accept it.

Sell: Rose, Walker-Peters, Wanyama

Free transfers: Vorm

Loan out: Skipp, Parrott, Foyth

Team:

Lloris, Gazzaniga, Austin
Aurier, New RB
Alderweireld, Sanchez,Tanganga, Vertonghen
Davies, Sessegnon, Cirkin
Winks, New DM, Dier
Ndombele, Gedson, Sissoko, Lo Celso
Dele, Lucas, Son, Lamela, Bergwijn
Kane, New FWD

If we can upgrade Dier, Sissoko etc this summer we should but if we have a limited budged I'd rather see us sign quality for the three highlighted positions in the form of Aarons, Soumare & Osimhen.

The season after, based on how well they do when out on loan replace Vertonghen with Foyth, Sissoko or Dier with Skipp + one other and integrate Parrott into the senior positions.

If get good offers this summer for Dier, Sissoko, Lamela we should consider our options but I wouldn't move these on just yet. Vorm, Rose, Walker-Peters & Wanyama are the only certainties for me.

Wonder why Jack Clarke is not in most of your lists as he should be back in the summer?

Outs:
Wanyama
Lamela
Vertonghen
Dier

Loan to perm:
Rose
KWP
CCV

Maybe sells:
Aurier
Sissoko (depending on recovery)

Fresh loans:
Foyth (Loan)
Skipp (Loan)

Think we'll buy:
Striker such as Edouard at Celtic
Soumare
Eze
McNeil
Ferguson
Cancelo
O'Connell
LB such as Jamal.L at Norwich
GK some unknown English 3rd choice keeper

BUt that's 9 players in - which, is a lot.

9 players in? We don't need 9 players mate and Levy would never sanction such numbers. At most we require 5-6 but I personally think we can cope well with 3-4

Probably never seeing him in a Spurs shirt makes him harder to remember. Based on his loan spell at QPR and how well he does I'd say it's either another loan or a season adding depth to our attacking backup numbers.

If Vertonghen is happy to stay on for one more year and Foyth happy to go out on loan knowing he can walk into Jan's spot season 21/22 that would be the best situation for the club.

Personally I'd like to see us run with this, as long as Jan knows we have Alderweireld, Sanchez and Tanganga ahead of him now. Jan could probably expect 10-15 starts across a 60 game season based on that so if he's happy to great but if not then the best interests of the club need to be considered.

I’d be surprised if we could actually sell Wanyama- we did have some ITK on him a while back that he’d probably fail a medical.

Dier has to go; as harsh as it sounds, he’s finished at the level we’re aspiring to be at.

I think Jose’s getting a decent tune out of crazy eyes Aurier, so I can see him staying for at least another season while we bring along a much needed young right back to rotate with Serge.

I think if a decent offer comes in for Sissoko, Levy might be tempted to sell, but he’s also a decent Mourinho player- quick, athletic, strong though less technically able than Jose might like.

I get the feeling Winks is definitely here to stay, he’s added some dynamism to his recent performances and he has the Mourinho work rate.

The switch to a 433, with less dependency on an out and out CAM, might even bring about another WF- someone who can play on the right, quick and technically decent

Sell List -

Vorm - He is just a stop gap. Probably go on a free again
Wanyama : Surely he will be sold out in summer ?!
Vertonghen : I doubt we will renew his contract. Sad way for Jan to go
Foyth : Goner, if we get a decent offer
Lamela : When Bergwijn started against City ahead of Lamela, writing is on the wall for him. We could easily get 25m for him.
Sanchez : He is being used sparingly.Jose seems to pick him only if he needs absolute pace in the backline. If Jose gets his way, I see him wanting Sanchez out for a different CB.
Rose & KWP : Already goners IMO

Jose seems to still like Dier. So, cant see him or Sissoko being sold.

Loan Out - Skipp, Parrott

Contracts expiry dates below, so in my opinion

2020 both will go,
2021 Dier will be sold he’s not playing so can’t see him signing a new deal, Rose I think is a given
2022 we send Foyth on loan, chances are he won’t sign a new contract as wants 1st team football and then has 12 months left so suspect he will be sold and Tanganga has been a real find to replace him. Lamela and Aurier depends on what’s offered

2020
Vertonghen
Vorm

2021
Wanyama
Dier
Rose

2022
Lloris
Lamela
Gazzaniga
Aurier
Foyth

JM will not sell anyone. Levy will. What will be interesting is whether Levy will offload the deadwood without making a profit on them.
We have already accepted bids for Wanyama and Rose while Alderweireld had a buyout clause.

The narrative of Levy not selling is getting tiring.

Don't know what's to disagree with really... we need a backup striker and were looking to bring one in in January, ditto a DM and indications are that Soumaré is the one we are looking at. That's 2. We've had ITK that we're after 2 right backs IF Aurier goes in the summer, and ITK on a new left back (to replace Rose) for summer. That's 5. ITK has then told us we are close to Eze and after McNeil. That's 7. We will likely need a 3rd choice keeper when Vorm's contract expires, and a new LCB to replace Verts if we're not renewing his contract. That's 9.

Which of those are you saying we don't need?

It may be that Cirkin comes in at left back and Austin at 3rd GK, but whether we recruit from within or externally it's still 9 players that will be recruited or needed.

Granted if Aurier stays that's one less at right back, but that's a big if...

Some of you lot are bonkers. Son to be sold?! He's possibly our most important player, definitely 2nd in place after Kane. Just think where we would be, or wouldn't be, over the last few years without him.

Lucas too, even if it turns out that he's not good enough to start every game, we need squad options, we can't just go round selling players that aren't good enough to start every single match.

I think aside from the deadwood (Wanyama, Carter Vickers), the big-ish players that Jose might sell could be Sissoko or Lamela. I doubt both, but maybe one of them, depending on what happens for the rest of the season.
