mentality will see us crumble even though we are superior to them now, its either going to be 1-1 or 2-1 tp them i think. more likely 1-1 as i dont see them scoring 2

what are you saying lenny? Didn't he get a 5th yellow against hull? If so how can he play wednesday?

If he plays in the middle with modric, that'll be a really strong team

The amnesty was brought forward so while Palacios, Huddlestone and JJ picked up their 5th bookings, they don't count. Suspensions only kick in when they reach their 10th (and then 15th) bookings. Good news all round.

You made the key point above though, camaj. Prices only reflect where money has gone. Liverpool is renowned as a good place for a flutter so obviously odds reflect that.

Plus, the difference between 11/10 and 2/1 isn't that huge. Given history and reputation (plus the aforementioned ability to choke) I'd say it's pretty close. I'd want a better deal than that before laying down my hard earned.

Wonder what price you'd get on a Spurs win with ex-Pool players Crouch and Keano scoring.

My optimism for this match has been tempered by the news that Hooray for Harold Webb is the referee.

These sorts of posts are why a lot of other team fans hate us!
it amazes me how confident some of us are on here lately.

We've had some good results yes but we've been here before (Back in 2005/06) 4th was OURS and we blew it.
For all Liverpool's faults this season and everyone mocking them they are only 4 points or so off 4th place and only have Europa league & prem to play for, they are very much still in the race.

well webby owes us big-time -

maybe he can do us a favour for a change

but i'm not counting on it

re odds of course they are a reflection on what people have bet - and generally people bet with money they'd rather not lose, so if people are prepared to back their opinions with cash it's because they believe (in this case) liverpool are likely to win tomorrow

just as they believed that pool would be likely to win prior to the postponement -

Don't fancy us at all, way too much hype about this game and we are seasoned chokers

all the 'pressure on benitez' sky ads... Yet one win, especially against a top 4 challenger, and they're right back in it. This game is made for that and shutting up a lot of overconfident Spurs fans, like the Arse game

Hope I'm wrong

TBH I think the odds are just about right. I've got my hopes up for this kind of game before (i.e. us playing well against a top team that are out of form) and we get spanked.

I think as guiltyparty says, we tend to choke in these situations...

I`m surprised by all the negativity towards this game, we are playing the team not the name and frankly Liverpool are really poor at the moment....We should be looking to take all three points at Anfield.

Of course we're looking to take all three points.

I'm not sure we actually will, though.

Yeah, as Bonjour says, I want us to go looking for the win

But you can't be a Spurs fan, surely, without tempering the optimism and hope with a bit of reality

The reality is that Liverpool are a very average side, especially without Torres, Gerrard and Benayoun.....I don`t expect us to go there and simply walk away with three points, however I do think we can win.

Of course we 'can' win. But history suggests that when we come up against these teams away, we don't.

Yes, there has to be a time when we break that, and no time like the present, but let's not get carried away. The point of this thread is about the betting odds, and I'm saying I completely understand why they are favourites.

And they're not an average side, they're a decent team who relies too heavily on two players and is low on confidence. Losing Xabi Alonso has obviously hurt them, but they are just one player different from the team that was title-challenging last year, so please don't fall into the 'they're no threat' trap

Tbh Liverpool are still the favourites to win the game on Wednesday as they are at home. I just hope we can prove the bookies wrong
