It’s pretty evident that Jose is embarking on a rather large rebuild of the squad. To avoid continually having to read this in player threads, in the transfer rumour section, I thought it would be worth posting a thread giving space to air their views on who stays and who goes in the Jose revolution.

This is not a place for wish lists, but a place to talk about the merits of who we keep, who goes, and why.

Eriksen obviously. Put him in a taxi to anywhere and let him pay the fare. Dier too limited. Rose has to go, let Sessegnon and Davies cover there. Jan past his best. Lloris I'm not sure about. Depending on how he comes back from that big injury. It's going to be at the back of his mind every time he goes for the ball.

Aurier needs to stay for now, really disappointed KWP has never had a run in the team. I get that he's not a huge physical specimen, but nor were Danny Thomas, Hughton or Perryman.

I'd keep the rest of the midfielders but start playing Skipp at DM. Foyth loan to see if he can get the brainfarts out of him. Keep Toby, Lucas, Son, Kane. Loans for Cirkin, Clarke. I'd actually like to see if CCV and Amos can offer anything. Looking forward to Roles coming back in the summer to see if he becomes part of the first team squad or gets a higher level loan. Almost forgot Sissoko. Gives it everything and despite his limitations, is a useful guy to have around.

Yes I agree that Eriksen has to go ASAP, he has checked out. Jan needs to go to as he doesn’t have the legs for it any more. I agree about Rose, I think we will have to send him of on loan or force him out of first team training to force a move though.

I can’t really see how anyone can not be sure on Lloris when Gazzinga is basically defrauding a living right now.

I’m also disappointed about KWP who appears to be on his way out. I’d personally let Aurier go if we had the chance. His concentration is abysmal, he is all too casual, hits one good cross a match if that and is rash.

Dier is a tough one, if we can get him back to his best he will be a very valuable squad member, if not then I agree he is a bit limited.

Winks and Sissoko pose a conundrum. If think we have to keep Winks because he is a valuable homegrown player, Sissoko probably will need to move on though if we want to create space for others.

Eriksen, Rose, Wanyama, Aurier to go ASAP at all costs

vertonghen, Dier, lamela, kwp to be considered on the sell list summer onwards

if large offers came in I’d consider selling Alli, moura or foyth

in my opinion I guess that shows the extent of the rebuild

I think everyone is in agreement to who we need
Long term successor to lloris
Right back
DM
Wide forward
Kane support/back up

not too much to ask ?

I would sell Harry Winks. He is just Tom Carroll v. 2.0 patch 1.83, and as OK as that is, it is not good enough. I'd also terminate Wanyama, Rose, Lo Celso and Sissoko. And probably one of Vertonghen, Alderweireld or Sanchez must go to make room for a new CB.

I’d look to move on and upgrade on the following over the course of the next two windows:
Aurier
CCV
Eriksen
Vertonghen
Rose
Wanyama
Lamela (brilliant servant but he’s injury prone and we can do better)

Loan:
Skipp
Foyth
Clarke
KWP (looks like we’re trying to sell him on a perm though)

We need to take advantage of the loan system with our youngsters more. Chelsea do it well and the basis for their young crop coming through this season were successful loans to Derby and Aston Villa.

I also think that in the long run we need an upgrade on Lloris but that’s clearly not a priority and will probably happen summer 21.

Contract situation/injuries: Eriksen, Wanyama, Rose, Vertonghen
Not rated by Mourinho: Foyth, KWP, Sissoko (doesn't think he is a CM and we can do better at RW)
Can upgrade on: Maybe Lloris who wants to change the scenery anyway.

Not sure if he still rates Dier, Rose will run down his contract but maybe he would consider Leeds if they promote and if they want him.

I don’t give a fig about their contract situations but the alarming lapses in concentration yesterday came predominantly from Aurier, Rose and Eriksen. They need to be replaced as a priority. Stating the obvious i know.

Eriksen, Rose, Aurier, Jan, Foyth, KWP, Sissoko, CCV, Victor, Moura.

If you look to move Winks and Dier, you then need to consider quotas.

I think you could upgrade many of the starting eleven.

It was always going to be a big job, doesn't matter who is at the helm.

Dier doesn't count as HG.

Bit harsh! He’s not a world class keeper and clearly not as good as Lloris but he’s not let us down since he’s been in the team.

I'd agree but his error in the Chelsea game was a big one. Killed us in that one.

I agree with your list bar Moura who I think is a good squad player and Aurier who we should keep at least in the short term as cover for a new right back.

The easiest way to look at this for me, is to list those who should definitely stay and everyone else is fair game:

GK - Gazza as a back up

Defence:
CB - Toby, Sanchez, Tanganga, Foyth (on the fence)
RB - Everyone can go
LB - Sess, Davies

Midfield:
CM - Ndombele, Sissoko as a squad player, Skipp
AM - Son, Lo Celso

ST - Kane, Troy

For me this is all i really care to keep currently. Bit harsh on some players like Lucas, Lamela (too injury prone although still love him). But in reality we could upgrade on whoever i've left out through a mixture of international talent and local talent like Ben White, Eze etc (who will be HG, definitely a few championship players we could add to this squad). We need a big big overhaul and even though Serge has looked ok, his attitude is so bizarre and he can only play RWB, so if we keep this formation might as well keep him for time being.

Eriksen, Aurier, Wanyama and probably Rose.

Jan has had an outstanding career with us but his decline is actually more rapid than I thought it would be. That said, another year providing cover from the bench might be ok, depends on what he wants as well.

I'd listen to offers for Lucas as well. Good player, works hard, and on his day a real live wire.

Dier I just don't know. Depends if he can get back to where he was.

A great option from the bench though.

I said it at the start of the season and I think it cost Poch his job... all players not 100% signed up to the cause need to be totally discarded. I’m sure Eriksen has great intentions but he cannot be 100% committed and even a 1 or 2% subconscious dip affects performances and also sets a bad precedent. As such Eriksen and Rose should not be included in any match day squads, and should not have been for some time.

Wanyama is a slightly different case, because he’s clearly not up to it anymore. If Poch had not been picking him and using him from the bench I think he’d have left in the summer. Another who should be totally ignored by Jose.

Verts is a different case as he’s always been good and he wants a new contract. He’s also largely been played out of position. However, he looks a shadow of his former self as time catches up and I’d encourage him to look elsewhere.

Aurier is not good enough defensively. I’d be looking to upgrade RB as KWP is also not good enough. I’m disappointed Foyth has not had a run of games as I think he would be better.

In CM I honestly think this is the major reason for our decline. Put 2016 Dembele and Wanyama into yesterday’s team at Eriksen and Winks expense and I’m sure we’d have beaten Liverpool. I’d overhaul this area. I’d keep Dier as a backup CB. I’d be looking for a top notch DCM to anchor with Ndombele and Lo Celso dictating play. This is the position to drop £80m on a world class player.

This would enable Dele, Moura, Son, Lamela, Kane, Sessegnon, and Parrott to fight it out for the front 3 positions. Having three of them on the bench also gives us a strong bench and good rotation opportunities.

I’d also look to offload Lloris whilst he’ll fetch a good fee. His form was very much on the wane last year under Poch, he’s also another of our ‘leaders’ who has gone stale as he’s been here so long. Plus he was a committed Poch man. Gazza has done well, but if we want to win the league we need a dominant keeper.

Summary:

Lloris, Verts, Rose, Aurier, Wanyama, Eriksen all to be offloaded / discounted.

Buy: GK, RB, LB and a DCM

Starting XI

GK
RB Toby Sanchez LB
Lo Celso DCM Ndombele
Moura Kane Son

Subs from:
Gazza (gk)
Foyth (covers RB and CB)
Dier (covers CB and DCM)
Tanganga (covers CB and LB)
Davies (covers LB)
Winks (covers CM)
Sissoko (covers RB and CM)
Dele (front 3)
Lamela (front 3)
Parrott (front 3)
Sessegnon (front 3)

Realistically we are not going to buy players of the quality we require in one summer and get them to gel quickly.

I hope Jose can find the right blend in midfield and get Lo Celso and Ndombele playing so we need to buy a DM. We then need new full backs. Happy to keep Aurier as an option but not confident in the others.

So Sell:
Rose, KWP, Davies, Wanyama and Eriksen.

4 in and 5 out.
