Right, so i am back, just had a chat with the misses, played with the kids and had a drink too.

This thread wasnt intended to be a dig at Jose but i feel it is important we look at who will take over him when he does eventually leave.

We have threads for player scouting, surely it would be good to have one for our next manager.

My understanding of football revolves around teams playing against Spurs, i dont follow other leagues, so it would be good to see what other options are out their.

Keep playing with the kids for a few years and then come back to this thread.

Why is this shit not locked until it is the appropriate time to unlock it?

Some really good threats get locked or disappear on here. Why the blinkin hek hasn’t this one!

I think we should have a 'Who replaces A&C when he hangs up his diamond and razor blade encrusted ban stick'. It will obviously have to be a despotic megalomaniac who likes to make people disappear who mildly irritate him. My top candidate would be Kim Jong Un.
You're still here aren't you? :D

I'm sorry @spursfan1991 , I think you've dropped a bit of a bollock with this one.

I'll take you at your word that the thread wasn't started as a dig against Mourinho. Fine. Accepted.

But the timing sucks. And not because it's simply too early per se, but because it's too early and yet there are one or two rather vocal people who can't see that it's premature and are being a little poisonous about Mourinho right now for their own reasons.

Far be it from me to deny someone an opinion, but there's a real lack of perspective on the current management structure and so discussing succession planning right now will a) likely only stimulate more vitriol; and as a result b) through degeneration not really provide any real insight anyway.

Add to that the inherent lack of insight that discussing it right now brings because we won't know what the situation of any putative management candidate is likely to be when the time does arrive to replace Mourinho.

Who knows what'll happen? For all we know, Nagelsmann may be managing Real Madrid, Rodgers may have decided to quit football and create a sequel to the Office where he plays David Brent's brother, Antonio, and Nuno's beard may have grown to the point where it gains self-awareness and decides to eat its master. OK, maybe over-egging the pudding, but you get the point - we don't know who will be available and so there is no benefit in discussing the possibilities at this time.

Add to that, the fact we won't likely know who will be playing for us either and therefore can't judge which manager would fit with the squad is another complication to any discussion.

And finally, comparing it to the scouting threads isn't viable either, for a couple of reasons:

1) We know when the opportunity to sign a player is going to happen. And the maximum time that we have to wait is five months ((gap between the closing of one window and the opening of another). We don't know when we'll need a new manager, so speculating brings no benefit; and

2) Clubs will usually look to buy more than one player in every window (yes, I know, insert Levy joke here), but you only ever appoint one manager, and there are far fewer managers than there are players. Discussing who would be right for Spurs, again, is a much more intricate discussion than which player could do a job for us.

I'm sorry for tearing into the thread so deeply - it's not necessarily a bad thing to talk about, just right now it feels that it could quite quickly turn into yet another pissing match. I certainly wouldn't like to see that happen.

As part of the paying public, we the downtrodden have to accept that our directors know best. After all they appointed Christian Gross!!

But that's a debate for another thread.....

Lord Sir Alan was responsible for that masterstroke - recommended by David 'friend of Tottenham' Dein I believe.

As we are taking this thread seriously - I'll throw an option into the mix - what about ex-Leeds United manager Dave Hockaday?

Ideally we should all get behind Mourinho. Hope he is backed substantially in the transfer Window.

Levy has to back Mourinho because Pochittinho was let down a bit imo with player movements and the plan hasn't worked.

Levy has to get get rid of players deemed not good enough one way or the other by either lowering the asking price or paying off the contracts... We should avoid an Eriksen and Wanyama situation in all cost.

If it were me ( thanks for your service)

Vertonghen
Alderweireld
Rose
Wanyama
Carter-Vicker
Walker-Peters
Dier
Vorm.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion but I feel we should get behind Mourinho and allow him at the very least two transfer Windows ie the upcoming summer and next January.

We need players Mourinho can work with to implement his style / tactics...the current squad isn't good enough
