I wouldn't. I have the ability to judge situations on their merit without being biased towards my football club.Let’s be honest if spurs were 25 points clear now we would be saying no to voiding
However given Liverpool played there part in English teams being banned from Europe for how long ? 5 years ?
Is a voided season pay back ?
I don't hope for that.I think it's clear that the only possible solutions are finishing the season or voiding it.
Hopefully option 1 is possible, even behind closed door and provided free to air to the public with a reduction in TV packages offered next year to BT/Sky etc.
I don't hope for that.
They have to void it. Its the least unfair way. There’s no telling if football will return even later this year. My guess is no. I highly doubt sports will return until a vaccine has been widely distributed which is 12-18’months away if we’re lucky. There's no question that voiding the season would be a BEST outcome from a Spurs perspective. Not only do we get back in the champs league but we also get a reasonably normal offseason and give Mourinho a proper chance to prepare for the 20/21 season. Quite aside from how awful a rushed end to the season in June with games played behind closed doors would be, the impact of a truncated offseason would probably be negative for us as well (even though its possible that we'd get both Son and Kane back for those games so its possible we may do OK in them).
But would it be the fairest? Well life isn't fair - our injury crisis wasn't fair and no-one's suggesting we get any credit for that. Still, there is the very real threat of legal challenges if the situation isn't resolved to the satisfaction of all so its probably worth considering if there is another way that might find wider acceptance andbe considered 'fairer' by all.
The only resolution I can think of is this: You can't resolve the season based on current position due to the disparity in games played and strength of opponents faced. SO, calculate average points-per game for each team by dividing current points by games played. THEN calculate average points per game of all opponents faced in all fixtures played so far (do this fixture by fixture so that teams you have played twice count twice against the average). Multiply each teams average points per game by the average points per game of their opponents faced so far. In most cases this shouldn't make a major difference to position, but if any teams have had a particularly tough or easy schedule relative to their immediate peers they should get a small corresponding adjustment from that.
Would absolutely suck donkey balls from a Spurs perspective as we would probably end up finishing 9th behind Arsenal in 8th - but if there's any kind of resolution to this season bar a complete voiding of it then I don't see it ending well for us whatever happens.
SO my personal preference is for voiding it, and I think there's a strong case for that, but something along the lines of the above might be the way they end up going in order to avoid getting tied up in legal challenges.....
Yeah I have advocated that finishing this season is more important than starting the next but this is by far the biggest obstacle to it. If they can't even start by 30th June then there's nothing to do but void the season entirely, and I think Wimbledon cancelling might be the death knell. It will look ridiculous if football is played while other stuff is cancelled. This is a really good article on the problems clubs face in regards to contracts after the 30 June.
On my phone so can’t copy and paste with ease.
Player contracts are biggest barrier to season finishing. It’s a legal minefield

Definitely. The clubs potentially lose a huge chunk of their TV revenue and for the top clubs that is their biggest source of income so there's no denying that most clubs will want to to everything they can to ensure that the season is finished, but for players the prospect of essentially having a 13 month season June 2020-July 2021 if we include the Euros is a major problem.Spoke to someone in UEFA the other day, his understanding is that all the club's desperately want to finish this season, and that's domestically not just in European competitions.
I'm sensing a different vibe between club officials and players.
Players seem to want the season done if they can't get up and running soon, as I imagine they wouldn't be happy to finish this season and go straight into the next season, especially with Euros next year. A lot of football, little rest.
I can see clubs and players going against each other here. Club's wanting to protect cash in flow, players wanting to protect fitness.
Belgium have just declared season over.
11 games left in season, and have taken current positions and declared Brugge league champions, with European places and Relegation decided also by current postions
