Edit: Now this has happened, making this more visible for discussion of what happens next.

Assuming that all football is postponed/cancelled within the next week or so, I still can't decide what the fairest approach is.

Do we ignore this season and pretend it didn't happen?
All promoted/relegated teams from 2018/2019 to stay where they are.
European qualification as 2018/2019 (we're back in the CL)
Liverpool not given title (harsh but hilarious)

or

Do we say that the places as of a certain date are the "end" of the season?
Liverpool win league
Teams currently in promotion/regelation/europe positions count as end of season
Some times will have had harder fixtures than others so some teams very disadvantaged. That could in theory put some clubs out of business.
No FA cup final means no winners to qualify for europe so how we do fill that space?

Both options seem pretty crap but which would be fairer? It's fairly obvious that it needs to be consistent Europe-wide but there's no guarantee that we decide to do the same as the other major leagues unless UEFA mandate it.

This season hasnt happened - so everything as of end of last season remains. We go into CL and Man Shitty retain their league champions status

Option A but give Liverpool an honorary prize as they were clearly going to win. That should keep them happy and we can laugh at them for having a fake trophy.

Harsh on Leicester but who knows who would get between 4-8 places in PL.

Option A is probably the fairer way to do it. Clubs shouldnt be helped or hurt by a global epidemic that no one can do anything about. Obviously players, squads and managers remain the same but results didnt happen.

Oh and make Amazon throw away the tapes and start anew.

The issue with option B is the teams that would relegated as well. There is still a chance they could survive (Norwich is a stretch I know) and some might not come back for a while.

The fairest way would be Option A, but with a weighted starting table for the following season, whenever that begins. For example, taking 20th place current standings of 21 points, this is the base starting position, so Norwich would start the season on 0 points like normal. Spurs, currently on 41 points, would start the season with +20 points. Liverpool, currently on 82 points, would start the season with +61 points. Expand this format to all European domestic leagues and forget about cup competitions that haven't already concluded.

Now Leicester have a few players in quarantine with symptoms. What the hell are the FA playing at here? Suspend the season with no winner and no one relegated. Do the right thing! It’s only fair!

I come from Hong Kong. Just don't underestimate this coronavirus. It would be disaster if they don't suspend the epl. Too easy to get infected if there is close contact (and unavoidable in the changing room!)

And for everyone in UK, remember to wash your hands. Wear mask if possible. Wearing mask is protecting yourself as well as protecting others surrounding you

Cancel the euros, CL and EL ,cup comps are not important. Play games every 3 days in either may, June or July and get all leagues finished

I reckon the season will get postponed with games being played after the euros and the start of next season being pushed. This will end up somehow fitting in with the Qatar World Cup.

So option C.

I don't think you can finish the league with fixtures still to play and call that fair.

So either it gets cancelled and we start again in August or fixtures are postponed and played over the summer. My guess is they'll go with postponing it first and if the fixtures can't be fulfilled later will end up cancelling and starting again.

Mauricio Pochettino steps out of the shower (a la Dallas) and thinks to himself...

"That was a trippy fucking dream. I dreamt I got fired, all the clubs good players got injured and Jose was my replacement. I really must stop eating cheese before I go to bed..."

MLS & NBA have been suspended. NHL will likely end up doing so as well as the NCAA tournament i think. La Liga and Serie A have been suspended as well. Meanwhile UEFA and the Premier League are dragging their heels. Do the right thing already.

Give it to Liverpool. We will then always have that it wasn't as good an achievement as any other PL winner as it was over less games to throw back at them.

CL and Europa places, and indeed relegation places I think is much harder one to call.

Option B is obviously fairer, we are 3/4 of way through season, but don't think it will come to that.
In respect of relegation, maybe don't relegate anybody, and play with 22 next season.

However my view, League will get suspended, end of season pushed back to end of May, or even June/July with Euros getting cancelled till next summer.
