Pouch has also said its about fitness, and when that players comes back injured and misses pre season its not a surprise that he will be down the pecking order.
When he gets his fitness up (same with GKN) im sure he will start to make some match day squads.
At whose expense? CCV?

So when someone believes an academy player is better than a squad player and should be used instead, its "Poch sees them everyday in training, don't you think he will know more than a fan who's better" or "Poch won't do anything for the sake of it, if he thinks an academy player is better than another player he will choose him" yet now it has happened people are questioning his decision smh. Basically Poch is right or I'd fully trusted when his decision sports popular opinion.

Fwiw, Wimmer is excellent and I also hope there are no issues. If it's any consolation I don't see CCV getting a chance soon so you won't have to worry. Dier will be moved back first

You don't think CCV will play vs Gillingham?

Most likely everyone plays kids then so I hope so. If they don't win that game, then that'll be it for the season. They basically better click on their first opportunity, otherwise they might have to hope for an FA cup appearance. Considering most will want to win a cup then Winks or Onomah may be the only ones to get a chance there.

So CCV will get a chance soon?

If Wimmer isn't outperforming CCV and comes in to the side at CCV's expense, Poch would be contradicting himself again.

If he isn't outperforming CCV then I doubt he will get into the team.
As I said, performances would be taken into account.
But you just seem to find ways to moan at things that haven't happened.

No I making a legitimate point that if Wimmer comes into the side and he hasn't outperforming Wimmer then Poch would be contradicting himself.

Hardly an outrageous suggestion given that Vertonghen did not outperform Wimmer to get back into the team.

While Wimmer put in a good performance when he came in last season, he came in to replace a player who was part of the best or one of the best (at the time) defences in the Premier League.

Lloris also came in for Vorm this season after he had put in some good performances with us.

But back to the report that was posted

All my decisions are because I think a player can give more things than another player.

Poch was probably thinking that Lloris being our captain, and Vertonghen one of our vice captains can give something extra to the team than other players performing at the same level.

If he is fit I suspect he will partner CCV on Wednesday.

Something I'd like to see, along with Winks and Janssen starting, Onomah and Edwards getting game time too.

Someone said Wimmer came into the preseason overweight? I didn't know that, but maybe Poch was upset at him that he didn't take better care of himself and maintain adequate fitness? So now he is having to earn his spot back, in addition to CCV impressing in friendlies and in training.

Something tells me that if one of our centre backs gets injured and can't play in a league or CL match we would find out that in reality Dier is our first choice back up for that position. With Wanyama in the mix at DM I think Dier might be our back up at RB as against Liverpool too. It's arguable that we don't need any CD on the bench.

Yes he said Vertonghen was a leader and an international when he was explaining why Wimmer was dropped.

I think the difference between Wimmer and Vorm is that Wimmer matched Vertonghen's level of play, arguably surpassed it. Lloris is a world class keeper and makes world class saves so Vorm would have to go up some levels to match it.
The thing is that Vertonghen did not go back to the level he was at before.
Poch himself has said that Wimmer is like a young Vertonghen. Going with the logic you presented, Wimmer should walk back into the team once or if he is fully fit.

His last performances were excellent, he has premiership experience and he is a young version of Vertonghen which surely gives him the edge over CCV.

Hmm Poch resting Davies and moving Jan to LB and Dier to LCB. Wimmer nowhere to be found on the bench either.

Something is definitely up. He must be in Poch's doghouse. He played so well in place of Jan last year, he's definitely done something to screw up his standing.

It's very odd and don't like that fans have been totally disconnected from him. Think that's poor.

I don't think anything untoward is going on with Wimmer, he hasn't played any pre-season games, hes Probably still not match ready.

He really must have done something cause no one on the right mind would drop an in form, boss for a just back from injury and not in form yet player in Verts.

After last year one would think that we found a diamond in the rough. He came in and made you forget about Verts. He barely has a hiccup and made fantastic save after save for us. So what gives?

I just don't see it and suspect we have another Nabil on our hands or something cause the hush hush nature screams insecurity in the club house.
