What would have happened last night if...

...Defoe had not been ruled offside from (Bale's ?) powerful forward header after about 15 mins.

He was blatantly level and not 'with the benefit of the doubt' level but a fraction behind if anything. He'd have had a 1 on 1 with the keeper and I'd say he's scored about 75% of those this season.

I know you're all going to say we weren't good enough to win anyway blah blah blah. We should have been able to come back etc. and even mention the Dawson incident but this is typical of the way our season has been going (I also mentioned this in the 'predictability' thread yesterday).

We played pretty well until they scored. Had we been 1-0 up who knows. Could have been 5-1 and ridiculous talk of catching the scum for 3rd

This is another classic example of where we should be using technology. Even though a replay would be good enough (the ref could simply have allowed play to go on and then got advice from the 4th official in less than 10 secs if a goal was scored). I bet there is technology available to check it automatically. They are able to track all of the players and the ball's position for analysis purposes why not use it to check offsides.

As sh*t as we were later on 'we was robbed' after 15 mins

We are on such a bad run of officiating at the moment it's becoming obscene!

We need to be able to cope with decisions going against us. Chelsea, United, Arsenal all have decisions go against them and more often than not they come back and just get on with it. Yes they'll bleat about it in the press afterwards if it doesn't go their way but whether they show it or not, all the top managers know that one moment very very rarely defines a game.

If we're reduced to debating an offside decision in order to justify our loss against a very poor team then we're in trouble methinks.

The team needs to man up in this respect and in many others.

Man up and shut up. A media ban on player and manager talk for starters! Especially on bigging up our ambitions for the season.

Would, could and should: the words of a weak man!

I think myself offsides are very hard to judge - the lino needs to keep an eye on when the ball is being kicked forward and on the position of the players at that precise moment. Not all linos have lazy eyes.

Let's look ahead to the F.A Cup now - this is our most realistic chance of achieving anything decent this season. Bring on the Wanderers!

Well Jenas saved an almost certain Wolves goal on 20 minutes but I don't see him getting any credit for that.

I hate all these empty and meaningless comments between games. Shut up and produce!

If its the moment Im thinking of I thought he had moved a fraction too early. Need to remember any part of the body legally allowed to play the ball ahead of the last defender and he would be offside.

I did rather predict this response and already said I agree about not being good enough after. We've also now seen that Mick Mcarthy is becoming a bit of a master of the shut up shop with an early lead tactic

Agree we need to be able to cope with the odd one and come back fighting but it's been an absolute litany of crap against us from start to finish this season. I almost fainted when I saw it was Clattenberg last night

Offsides sure are hard to judge. Erm technology. Did I say technology ? Oops yes me again

Still only 1 point off 4th. I agree, bring on Bolton. COYS

Fair play but look at it again - he's comfortably level in anybody's book

I wonder if you would backtrack that in reflection of harry's comments on how we should be above Arsenal?

Just watching it on football first and they had a nailed on penalty denied Dawson on Jarvis so there's another what if?

Yeah I did mention this in the original post

Being objective I think he was on his way down from the shoulder to shoulder before Dawson touched his legs but it would have been given at least 50% of the time
