Garth Crooks is the worse ex Spurs player pundit imo. Rarely complimentary towards us and seems to have an axe to grind or even a grudge towards us.

haha, yeah, watching the build up from the morning onwards was a ritual when I was a kid.

As for pundits, they say things I disagree with and things I agree with. Much like anyone and anything else, it's how it is and how it's always been. You're right, it's waffle and the choice on watching it or not is clear.

They used to follow the team coaches in a fucking helicopter!
They were on the teams coaches before the final on a number of years, including one of the Spurs finals. I remember them doing an interview with Micky Hazard before the game on the coach.

I think I’ve told this story before but my mate asked Crooks for an autograph when he saw him at a World Cup 20 odd years ago. He said Crooks didn’t even look at him, waved his arm in the air as if to say ‘away with ye, commoner’ and didn’t even answer him. He’s hated him since. 😄

I like both Neville and Caragher as pundits, but you’re both spot on, they shouldn’t be doing the games of their own team.
I’ve been saying this for years though, they can still have a ‘neutral’ on comms and in the box but they just need representation from both clubs.
There are enough ex pros and managers out there who are working the media circuit who could do it. From our perspective though just don’t let O’Hara within a five mile radius…

Off the top of my head (not including Bent and Jenas): Souness, Redknapp (J), Hoddle, Crouch, Lineker, Murphy, Dawson, Robinson, O'Hara. And Ginola on occasion...
Also Defoe and Keane. They've been on a few of our games in the past.

I don't like Crooks punditry at all and I agree he has an axe to grind/seems biased against us.....but come on. Worse than Jamie Redknapp?? Worse than Darren Bent (??!!!)

Just reading a few articles about the match, and once again (as with United) the other team are crap again and oh little old spurs did well to put away a team who are a mess but West ham are shit is the main story (again).

Same thing with Brighton, they made a fantastic comeback against us with a great sub and getting their wingers into play, but no the narrative is spurs are just Gung ho and it was all on Ange. Brighton are another team that are getting overlooked at the moment.

Does there have to be a narrative about every game, it doesn't make things anymore interesting. The United and eth stuff is borderline ridiculous at the moment.

Could have just said spurs were on top throughout however West ham were a threat on the break through Kudus and Bowen in the first 25 minutes and with tactical sub spurs turned their dominance into goals and finished off opposition comfortably and looked very impressive (as they have done for the majority of this season).

And the endless focus on the refs decisions is boring, Kudus being sent off had absolutely no effect on the outcome and should just be a footnote.

Remember when Klopps Liverpool were ripping it up there were hundreds of articles about how amazing they were. But we're not getting any recognition whatsoever (even from our own fan base).

How long before people start to realise we are actually quite good.

keep scoring goals, keep winning, and stop dropping points we have no business dropping. Our perception will change if we win the next four - two games we would be expected to win and then two games that would further cement that we are here to stay in wins against City in the cup and Villa at home (who have had their best start in 26 years I guess)

That recognition won't come until we develop some consistency and actually win (or get close to) something.

As much as I like the direction we are heading, the Brighton and Newcastle losses showed we are still very much a work in progress.

David Pleat was just on Sky promoting his book. Was a really interesting little chat. Nothing too ground breaking, but he did mention we looked at signing Ollie Watkins (on Pleat’s recommendation) when Jose was here, but Jose thought it was too much to spend on Kane back up and we signed Vinicius instead…
