Don't normally do this , but saw this on Red cafe and had to post it.............Well done to the travelling fans!!!!

Also the person responding to the original post is a Gooner

Yep, I’ve got to grudgingly respect their away support tonight, they sang the entire game.
As an overseas fan who watches all games on TV, I have to say that with no disrespect to the home supporters, this is palpable in almost every game. It may just be how the sections are mic’d, but away songs and support are typically more sustained and varied compared to games at home.

If you asked ol whisky nose who his favourite player was, he'll usually answer Denis Irwin.
Hell of a a player, has Davies vibes about him. I’d say Paul McGrath would be a close second, he played most his matches half cut, still done the job.

Fergie definitely had his favorites, listen to how the players describe how he treated Cantona v everyone else, he also convinced a 38 year old Scholes to come out of retirement rather than bring through Pogba (who left on a free as a result).
Cantona was a player, underrated by some I feel. He just had a swagger, confidence and class (kicking a fan in the head aside). Would have loved him in a spurs shirt. Can you imagine him, Van der Varrt, Ginola and Berbatov all in the same starting line up, would have been multiple wanks during a game. Probably would have lost mind you.

It's because tickets are limited so you only get the dedicated season ticket holders and they're all packed in together. At home the singing sections are spread out.

It wouldn't be that good, they don't compliment each other at all.

Had a bit of a nosey at the Roma Reddit ahead of Thursday:

  • [Saturday] Maybe they've vented enough today and will arrive without motivation on Thursday...
  • i watched the game , if we were under Juric,we would be smashed
  • Fun thing is, I can actually see Tottenham win that game against city and then go and loose to Roma
  • We're not gonna lose this without a fight.
  • True, we are very Spursy lately
  • Roma fans, don’t get too excited—it’s Tottenham, anything can happen
  • 😂 It’s still Spurs.. Even in the form Roma have shown all year, they can beat those losers
  • Yeah…doomed
  • 4 to city, 8 to us

The difference between Pep and Fergie is there for all to see.

Fergie by far the better manager.

He had no favorites, got rid when he see a weakness and carried no sentiment.
Fergie the better manager, Pep the better coach and tactician, both incredible in their own way, probably the 2 best of all time imo.

3 very good players here, plus 1 truly special one.

Cantona wasn’t even the best player in that side… the four in midfield for starters. But that might just say something for how good that United side were. The best of that era for sure.

Cantona absolutely was the key to him winning that first title. Its no coincidence that Leeds won the league in the previous season, and then Man Utd won it the season after, with Cantona in both of those teams. Ferguson spent years trying to replace him (Sheringham, Veron etc) and was never able to.

Those away fans still sing at home games but they don't sit(stand) together and are spread around the ground so you get the situation where more people sing at home but it doesn't get taken up as naturally.
That's the thinking behind the singing section discussions that are going on at the moment.

I've never had any shit for being a Tottenham fan living in Manchester, but that's likely because City and their 17 fans all live in murkiest east Manchester where no one goes, while United - who have by far the bigger fanbase despite the unintelligible screeching from the dentally-challenged Ashton Canal-side nobodies - seem to quite like us.
I'm from the east Manchester spurs supporting massive (a group of 2) everyone there are fine upstanding people.

Well mostly, Well some, ok a few...

But yeah it's a popular tourist attraction people come from all over to see us (Like they do a circus) The survival walk down the canal is a particular highlight, if you can fight your way past the drug addicts and teenage delinquents and get to Manchester it can be quite exhilarating.

It's a colourful neighborhood especially when you see the blood from all the stabbing that goes on.

Ashton (not my hometown) is actually one of the nicer areas as well. Famous for Harold Shipman and his esoteric dentistry.

Everyone should watch the Aberdeen documentary, what Ferguson did there was incredible, that's before you even get to his success at United.

Pep is obviously a great manager (coach) but rating him should always be tempered by the resources he has had at his disposal.

Also being from Manchester, Cantona is a hero there, much more of an impression left by him that anyone of that era. The other one who United fans (and me) loved was Scholes, an absoloutley amazing footballer.

In 20 years there will be Opponents' Fans saying "You should really see the Ange Spurs y1-5 Documentary to see just how he changed the mindset and made them the dominant force for 18years. "
