Interesting to see quite a few fans from different clubs complaining about us being nasty and rough. I thought Villa committed roughly 800 fouls and the ref wasn't hugely interested but I guess I'm biased?

Ref was terrible, let them time waste and let them off with several fouls...they got the rub of the green.

With regards to other fans, we,'ll never win. If we're being out muscled we're labelled (rightly) as soft.

If we stand up to the physical side, we're a nasty side lol

I guess its a compliment.

Cuti got his first booking of the season - we must have been real dirty

Villa got away with a retrospective yellow for one of doms goals, the tap in.. Play on was correct but should still have been booked for yanking his shirt neck height in the immediate build up.

Bentancur got lucky not to be carded with a rash challenge. Romero did one wild lunge, but was rightly booked.

Other than that I saw lots of niggly fouls from Villa and them going down theatrically to every 50/50 challenge.

Wasn't any major decision wrong, but I got very frustrated with the ref's inconsistency

Loved the fight we showed. I don’t think either card was malicious, nor the one Bentacur escaped. They were fully committed, determined and a split second too late.

It was quite a feisty game whilst in the balance, we prevailed, I really hope we can build on this.

Let’s just take each game at a time instead of getting ahead of ourselves.
This is exactly why we get knee jerk reactions after a defeat or bad performances because people keep thinking now we are going.

I think it's still going to be a while before we are consistently whipping teams back to back.

Blue Moon(post match)

  • Fuck off Spurs. Hanging on against a side with 5 players under the age of 21
  • Pep got it wrong tonight playing such a strong XI when we were already in the middle of an injury crisis
  • I don’t understand why he named such a strong starting XI and then didn’t put Haaland on when the game was in the balance?
  • Son aside, that was Spurs's best team and how shit were they against our u21
Apologies, bit late re the City replies but fuck me, these ones above sum them up. Which was it, your strongest or your u21’s? Always amazes me how people see the polar opposites in the same game.

But this one…
  • will go down as a Spurs win and they will milk it rightly so, Skysports love nothing more than bashing City

‘will go down as a Spurs win’. Thanks mate. Nice to know he understands the very basics of football. But when you start a sentence like that, shouldn’t it be followed up with ‘but that last minute goal should’ve been disallowed’ or something like that to dispute the win. But he just leaves it like that and moans about Sky. Fans are really fucking weird. Imagine if I’d posted after the Villa match - ‘Well done boys, will go down as a Spurs win’. I’d completely expect a barrage of abuse - I’d like to think that maybe one of the other City fans knows where he lives and spat on his front door.

It’s typically different posters I think. Not actual bipolarity or necessarily hypocrisy, just some people are wrong and some are right and many just stick to their agenda either way. (I accidentally typed Angenda there and may use that at some point 😀

Same with most forums tbh. Some people spin what happens to suit whatever opinion they hold and sometimes that spin just means bald-faced lying. Some people will cling to their Angenda (let’s go!) through a ton of wins then as soon as one thing goes wrong they go “told you so”. Who was that clown whose tweet is in the match thread about “sub off Solanke and put Son in the middle, bring on Maddison at half time etc”. Do you think he/she’s learned from their mistakes? I doubt it 😀

Oh yeah I get all that with opinions (I actually wanted Maddison on earlier 👀) but this was dealing with facts, ie the team City picked. Just funny to see someone saying it was their u21 side then the next poster moans they went too strong considering their injuries.

Yep, I think next season will really see us kick on... hopefully! The first season was about getting to know the new system, this season we know it and are better at it, we're playing better more consistently (even if results don't reflect it) but we still lose games we should be winning so, a bit of both winning/losing week to week. Next season we should be eliminating many of the defeats.

Pre-Match Thoughts - Bluemike
Spurs will not be easy at all and to get something from this game would be massive, last week I thought they looked poor against Crystal Palace as they fell to defeat but since then they have dumped Manchester City out of the Carabao Cup and took Villa to the cleaners in the League, although the final scoreline did flatter them slightly. Some of the Football played at Brentford and against Leicester does give One hope because we looked very very good at times and that is the standard we will need at the very least to avoid another heavy defeat against Spurs.

I don’t see us getting anything out of this game. I just hope it’s not a humiliating thumping.

Going to go for a very hard fought draw in this one with Szmodics banging in a couple. Seems to raise his game in the bigger games. So going to say 1-1 or 2-2……… or 5-1 Spurs if H.Son is on form.

I thought yesterday it was proved that Spurs are one of the clubs that receive no favours from the Premier League, match officials or VAR. so Sundays game should be played on a level playing field. Let’s believe that anyway.

Anybody of sound mind would predict nothing other than a thumping from this one.Maybe I'm not so sound, but shock results can and do happen, so I'm predicting both a win and a clean sheet. 0-2.

Given Tottenham have recently put 4 past both Villa and West Ham and knocked Man City out of the League Cup, whichever predicted line up I look at I can see nothing other than a comfortable Spurs win. Prediction; Spurs 4-1 Town
☹️

Well if we can keep it to 3.0.or 4 .we can't be any worse than villa..

We can but pray for a very 'Spursy' Spurs performance. Its a game like this that they have shown an extrodinary propensity to fall on their faces following good form so I am going to go for a 1-0 Town win. For those that are going - enjoy the stadium - its a most impresive place to visit.

I was a guest at Spurs v Everton recently. When they are good, they are very, very good. They can, as against Palace a couple of weeks ago, not turn up. Unfortunately, they tend to turn up at home. Fantastic stadium by the way.I'm afraid we will lose this one by at least two goals. I'm going for 3-1. It could be a right thumping though. I hope I'm wrong.

First time I've gone for us to lose a game in these polls this season, my usual optimism isn't doing it this time.

Well if we play like Galatasaray did against Spurs today, we’ll win comfortably! Defensively Spurs are loose; they concede goals regularly. Unfortunately, so do we and we don’t score as many goals as Spurs.

Hahahahha. All they have to do is play like Galatasaray! I suppose Delap could be analogous to Oshinen and Szmodics to Mertens, but fucking hell! Come on!

Think the guy who said 4-1 is spot on.
