The number of soft free kicks Spurs are getting is silly now.

Hmmmmmmm. As annoying as it is, I think most of them have been correct

I don’t actually disagree with you. I suppose my issue is consistency.
Fouls of a similar nature that have been given to Spurs haven’t been given to us.

Good point. Low block was very solid in 2nd half. Shame about Jensen injury

FT
2-2
Solid start to the season.
Wissa and Bryan both in the goals
More points taken from the Big 6.
Bring on the scum next week.
COYB

I'd have taken a point before hand so reasonably happy I guess. Just a bit annoying as we had chances to win, but I expect Spurs will feel much the same.

Good point against a resurgent Spurs. We probably had the better chances ironically but Spurs the much better side 2nd half. A strong point and hope Jensen's injury isn't too bad (a real turning point in the game when he went off I thought).

Do Spurs still count as Big 6?!?

That is a very good point against a Spurs side who look a level up from last season.

Fair point for both sides

Can't really complain about grabbing a point against a big-6. Solid effort. Hopefully Matty is okay.

Good game to be fair, had me on the edge of my seat throughout.
Very positive that Bryan and Wissa are off the mark for the season, should give them confidence moving forward and Flekken looked good as well.
People mock Spurs, and rightfully so, but they have some very good players.
Can't wait to get back to the Gtech for a few games

Agree I'd have taken a point in that second half, but like you, some disappointment, as they were really there for the taking in the first half. There's probably no better time to play Spurs that right now, which adds to the feeling that it might be 2 points dropped.
Slightly concerned that we invited 18 shots on goal - too much space given and poor clearances at times. Look forward to Ben Mee back to marshal the back 4 or 5. Hope Jensen injury isn't too serious. Flekken did okay.

Very little between the teams today, draw was a fair result.
Spuds look like a completely different team to last season’s shambles.
Hope Jensen is okay, he has become a big player for us.
COYB

The low block meant we allowed them to string phases of play together in that half....they're a better footballing side under AP but I think our tactics of backing off and retreating today played into that narrative.

I'll take that. We restricted them to not much and had the chances to win it on another day. Got pegged back a bit too much at times which is a slight recurring issue but is always likely to happen against teams with much bigger resources and more technical players.
The usual suspects stood out in Bryan, Rico and Jensen before he got injured. Good solid debuts for Collins and Flekken.

Wasted opportunity, treated a weak mid table side as a top side and gave them the ball for 65 minutes.
Should have gone 442 at half time and put another 4 past them.
Great first half from the ref. Completely last the plot second.

Wow, are we getting so arrogant now that we think we should just roll Tottenham over when they have players like Bissouma, Richarlason, Son, Maddison etc?

We worked very hard for that point. We throughly deserved a point and could have stolen all three. We made the better chances but they dominated the ball. As much as we hate Maddison he is going to be a big player for them. Luckily Kane has gone.
We need to wrap Rico in cotton wool.
Wissa working harder than I have ever seen work. Did really well.
Janelt had a very solid game .

I don’t think we did, I thought we treated them like Man City and they are more Leicester city .

Average on the ball second half and a bit flat, Spurs didn't really create much and we let them pass it across the pitch. Collins and Rico were class as was Jensen before the injury. Damsgaard and Schade look short of confidence, Norgaard needs more games. First half we were very good.
Take Maddison out the team and I don't see how they will score goals. He kept holding the ball and walking off, thought that was an instant yellow. Spurs still look like they will get taken apart, we got in behind so much.

Fair result and a good point. Bryan fluffed his lines in first half extra time, and Damsgaard, who still looks short of confidence, should have done better with a weak attempt when very well placed.
Spurs created very little tbh.

Frustrating second half. I know a point against spurs is always a good result but they had plenty of mistakes in them and we could have punished them if we were higher up the pitch. Really went to walking pace in the second half and we started the hoof ball again which no bees fan wants to watch, we are a better side than that. However, we defended our box very well and there weren’t any big chances to think of. I’m looking forward to our first game against a non big 6 side to see how we play in the 4. Jensen will be a massive miss for us, I hope he’s not out long. Overall a positive first result for us though, coyb

We can,t keep playing the low block with no out ball!

Felt the starting line up was a big negative by TF to be honest. Overall a fair result but we had the biggest chances and whilst overall happy with a point disappointed as Spurs were there for the taking.

Mostly fair comments from them.

Anyone know their problem with Maddison? They were booing him from he first whistle, and it instensified as the game went on. Considering he's never played for any of their rivals (if Brentford even have rivals) it seemed odd.

Yeah, I was wondering that.

Delusion. If they’d actually tried to play football in that second half, feel we’d have scored a couple more.

Utd fans seem to be pretty down on the team after their showing against Wolves on Monday.

Can just picture it now though, we batter them all game and lose 1 nil.

Red Cafe, comments start immediately after their match v Wolves:
Best case, draw. Sigh
Son will magically turn into the embodiment of not only prime him but also prime Kane against us probably.
Romero shouldn’t be allowed to play which would be a boost for us.
happy to get this and Arsenal out of the way early doors
Based on Tonight's performance this is not the worst game to play. It will be end to end stuff and if our defense can keep it tight we can hurt them on the counter. Mbuemo tore Emerson a new one on Sunday so I don't see why Rashford can't do the same.
Watch how Ange has Spurs playing against us next week and he's only been there for like a month.
At least we’ll play against a high line which should suit our counter-attacking team better. Should have no issues finding those spaces behind their defense.

But we need to improve a lot.
If we buy De Jong and Osimhen, do you reckon they'd be able to make this?
We can't keep the ball and are absolutely useless away to big teams. I'd take a draw, Spurs are no great shakes though.
Going to get battered this game. Spurs looked way better in their opening fixture.

Rashford to the left. Drop garnacho and get Sancho as a false 9. Might get a draw.
Sancho HAS to play through the middle. I'm not sure what we do in midfield but if the answer is the RW Bruno gimmick then we'll lose.
Based on the first spurs and United games I expect Spurs to dominate that midfield area and win the game well. Bissouma and Maddison were excellent against Brentford and their full backs were tucking in well too. I’d be signing Amrabat this week if I was ten Haag or start making plans for a different midfield come Saturday or were in big trouble.
It's going to be a back-to-the-wall job sadly.
Always the same thing with Spurs regardless of manager. Their biggest threats being Son and Kane.
Confident we can nullify Kane.
Totally different game which may actually suit us more. Thankfully we have a week to work in stuff in training and hopefully improve.

Will be interesting to see if we can put our away form woes from last year behind us, but seeing how we shat the bed towards the end yesterday, I’m afraid it will be the same.
I think that we will have to be more cautious in the defensive transitions and our block should be less stretched.

Don't think Spurs will provide us a lot of threats without Kane, as they still need to learn how to play without him.

Nevertheless, I would be happy with a draw.
Being trounced by a Spurs team who are just at the start of their new project and have lost their best player would be absolutely demoralising. The Wolves game did no good for the confidence but hoping we bounce back strong and look much more convincing.
Spurs will absolutely roast us if we play like we did last night.
No defence vs. no midfield.

I'd start Sancho centrally with Rashford from the left.
Big Ang licking his lips.

Easy spurs win, 2-0.
I expect Martial to play with Rashford in the left.
3-1
Surely we cannot be as bad as we were last night , can we?
Jesus H I wouldn't want to go into battle with some of you.

We're getting up to fitness. We always start seasons slowly. We got smashed last season in our first few games.

Spurs will leave loads of space behind their defence - perfect for our new GK to play flat balls across to the likes of Rasford to run onto.

We will win this.
Don't see Spurs winning this at all, there were miniscule positives to the performance last night. The team looked threatening only when camped in the opposition box so the ability to get to that phase of play more decisively is what should be worked on all week.
I am sure ETH will rectify the mistakes from yesterday and the team will be a bit fitter.
Against Spurs anything can happen, but I am sure we will perform a lot better than yesterday. A win here would be huge.
Bissouma was very good vs Brentford. will be difficult game.
Should be a relatively easy victory for us. Spurs at home will try to play on the front foot, and we will destroy them on transition
Take out one of the best players from the last game?
Its the last thing they'll expect!
Sort of dreading this. We were abject last night, couldn't believe how off the pace we were all match. Isn't it arsenal after as well? Good god.
Can't call how this one will go. I watched Spurs vs Brentford and Spurs were mostly quite dominant on the ball but lacked cutting edge. They also looked very vulnerable in wide areas and on the counter. I think it's a game that might actually suit our style of play. It's just whether they have plugged the gaps in their defence by the weekend, as I imagine they'll be working on it a lot this week.

It's probably also worth throwing Garnacho back in again as I think playing on the counter suits him better. Spurs had an extremely high line and Brentford kept finding balls over the top to runners - exactly the type of game that would suit Garnacho and Rashford. They struggle against teams better defensively and more compact.
Defensively they're a bit of a mess, though Udogie looked good. I can see Antony having a hard time against him as he marks very tightly.

Should hopefully be a high scoring game. Bissouma might benefit if we play like we did against Wolves.
This is the game Richarlison will turn into a prolific goalscorer.
Referee: Michael Oliver. VAR: Craig Pawson.

Don't expect a decision for us.
We're officially fecked....
....
Oh ffs.

Spurs to get a soft peno then and Cas or Martinez to get sent off then
We'll thump them with ease. I expect them to get better under Ange but also expect them to struggle the first month of the season or so.
Everything revolving around the midfield is so uncertain and tentative. None of the proposed midfields we actually can pick from look rounded or complete. I don’t know how we propose to stop them making driving runs through the midfield, which they’ll be desperately attempting after watching Wolves clean up.
If our midfield puts out the same performance, Maddison and Bissouma are going to have a field day.
Never worried about playing Spurs. And our delusions of grandeur typically see better performances against better sides over the last few seasons. I expect we’ll win this.
Fred with another MotM performance against them? Oh wait
We are in the bizarre situation of wanting a win but you know that a defeat would accelerate transfers and possibly an announcement for the sale of the club...
Were Spurs really that good in their opening day draw to warrant such panic or are people scared by how poor we were vs Wolves? Anyway, i'm pretty confident we can do well if we tighten the midfield up a bit.
Ange is going to school Ten Hag.
Spurs are going to batter United. Frustrating that we cannot keep the ball in over a decade since Fergie retired. We have no identity as a team. While we have improved with the pressing, after winning the ball it's all run with it and release it as late as possible after getting pressed by 3 players.

Spurs were very good against Brentford with it being an away game and not having Kane. Going to be a long day on the pitch. More worried about when we face Arsenal, City and Liverpool.
Batter? based on one game? Some of you lot need to get a grip. It's silly to make these assumptions based on all of one game.
We must be one of the most frustrating teams in the league for opposition managers to prepare for. So inconsistent that who knows whether the team would be brilliant or league one standard. Usually it's both within the same game. I know ETH said we want to surprise the other teams but hopefully not like this anymore.
During Ole's tenure, City actually didn't train before a derby match because Pep felt he had no idea how we'd set up.

I guess the more things change the more they stay the same.
Lads, it’s Spurs.
Lads, it’s Spurs, without Kane.
Lads, its Man Utd, with a midfield made of butter.
Cue Richarlison invoking the spirit of prime Adriano.
Son ..turning into Prime Ronaldinho.
You just know Son is gonna turn into prime R9 for this game only.
If we have gaps in the midfield and the wingers can't hold the ball like on Monday you can count on us getting hammered 4-0 or something. However, it's Spurs so anything could happen here.
I think we are going to batter Spurs by 3 or 4 goals, probably 0-4. At home they will try to play on the front foot, and it will cost them dearly.
Its the best time for us to play Spurs under Ange, early on while his players are still becoming proficient with his ideas.
Trouble is, people said last week was a good time to play Wolves
My take too. From the opening day fixtures I watched about 5 games and Spurs was the one that would suit us to a tee. Wide open on the counter, blunt in attack. Calls for our typical low/mid block and counter tactics. The only question mark is that, because it was exposed so badly by Brentford, will Postecoglu close that door? I suspect he will sort them out eventually, but this looks an ideal time to play them, though the same could be said about us I suppose!
I'm a bit worried for this game due to our first game but we should really be putting 3-4 past them.
Think we'll win this one.

I hope it’s not a Bruno-Casa-Mount midfielder. We’ll get destroyed. Need to shore that midfield up a little. Play Bruno from the right , Rashford left and Sancho false 9. Throw Mctominay in there for a bit more physicality.
Quite worried about this one. I've taken Rashford out of my FPL team as I can't imagine him doing anything here. Reckon this could be a bad one if we're not careful. Spurs have something to prove without Kane and we look low on confidence.
Actually think we will be fine in this one.

I suspect the style of football Spurs play will suit us and they are still poor in defence.

I'm hoping Wolves was a bit of a wakeup call.
Would obviously love to be proven wrong but I think we're gonna get battered.

The way Ange has them playing will overwhelm us. Also Ten Hag has a tendency to make stupid unorthodox decisions like playing Bruno on the wing.
I’m hoping the heavy criticised midfield trio all start and put on show.
Spurs gave plenty of space. You will thrive if given space in my opinion.High scoring game for sure.
Over 5.5 goals is 6/1

I'm expecting a goal fest!
This is a must-win game for us.
The second game of the season? It's really not.

90s me schadenfreude over United fans hoping that they're going to beat us because their low block counter attacking style is a good match for our high line exploits

They seem to have forgotten
Lads it's Tottenham!
They aren't very confident are they, they seem to have a higher opinion of us than we do.

They really are being wet. They've won 4 and drawn 1 in the league since we humped them at Old Trafford. And that was during a pretty bad period for United.

I remember a game we played against them when we battered them and lost 1 nil. Rashford scored it and De Gea made about 20 million saves.

Although of late, other than that Covid game, we just haven’t turned up against them.

I really think Ange won't allow players not to turn up. I think from here on out, win, lose, or draw, every team we play will know they've had a game.
