Don’t get too caught up, this guys has no idea, let’s ignore the £80-100m for grealish, look at what he’d spend a £300m budget on, that team is hardly better than what they have now

Top 4 is a weird target to have for the Championship

Haha people are so biased towards their own clubs (me included). If all players fit then I actually wouldn't take a single players of theirs in our starting 11. I'd have Grealish in our squad to be fair as I think he is a good player but Lo Celso & him are similar in the position they play, and I love GLC!

Love the fact that even with a mythical £300m to spend, grandpa Reina keeps his place. What a bunch of astronauts Hahahaha

When they got relegated they thought they would be competing with us for top 4 and didnt think Benteke would be taking a step up to us.

They dont learn

Thirteen years ago, they were competing with us for top 4, finishing 6th three years in succession, when we finished 11th, 8th and then 4th. Many people thought they were better placed than we were to take the next step. But ten years ago, they fell out with Martin O'Neill over lack of funding for transfers and they lost their way thereafter.

For the sake of this thread I've skulked through many a greasy, virgin addled, online football fan-hive. Yet I can safely say that, having braved such varied wastelands as the comically provincial hobbits of Burnley's 'Claret Mad' to the hilariously self loathing Newcastle fans on Toon Tastic, the peaks of delusion were never higher than on Villa Talk.

I remember taking a peek back when we were riding the wave of Bale a few years back and crushing teams week after week with his 30 yard piledrivers and unstoppable runs. We were miles ahead of Villa in the table yet some of their cretinous legion were utterly convinced that we were far inferior while they were destined for greatness - just one good run of results away from challenging us for the CL. It was practically guaranteed they they'd roll us over and charge forth up the table to take their rightful place.

From what I recall we crushed them 4-0 and they went on to finish 16th. 2 seasons later they were relegated.

Your efforts, sir, are appreciated; as is the huge toll that this must have taken on your psyche.
Sometimes I awake in a cold sweat, crippled by night terrors (and spelling errors) borne of my visit to The Oatcake Fanzine, where Stoke fans mutilate the English language with the fervor of rabid hyenas.

The lingering smell of Charlie Adam is yet to vacate my laptop.

Show me the way to Hammer Villa,

I was really referring to that period around Benteke coming to us and they really felt they were bigger and would be challenging ahead of us by but that time I'm sure we were finishing ahead of them.

They had a good run under O'Neil but he had the same problem at Sunderland there was not the funds available to back him
