Errrrr.... no they didn’t.

Yes they did. That came from swiss ramble. Chelsea, utd and city never kept that much money in the bank. Spending most or giving shareholders dividends. (I'll see if i can find rambles article but it was old).

This article shows they have had a massive bank balance since 2006.

So you are saying the other 19 premier league clubs had less than £50m in the bank between them in 2006 (I’m assuming that is when their stadium was built and am too lazy to google).

Not the first season or two obviously. But they built up their bank balance (not spending) to the point where it was by far the biggest in the prem. The stadium did not mean they couldn't spend money they chose not to. It's why their fans were so angry.

And when they decided to spend they spent it either terribly (Mustafi/Xhaka) or on marquee signings instead of strengthening the weaker areas of the squad (Auba, Özil).

It's funny because their fans went along with the 'we can't spend cause of the stadium' and shoved it in our face when we were building/completing ours.

The truth of the matter is they simply don't invest and have no ambition to be anything other than just trickling along and gaining some advertising ventures along the way.

Their fans are being played and whilst some of them realise that they are quick to forget it and invest their time in the transfer window every summer.

Kronke has used them as leverage to get the loans to build the new rams stadium. So in a way they are right they can't spend because of a stadium. Just not theirs.

I know that after their change of ownership they changed their approach over the last decade and have built up cash reserves. But it is misleading to say they had more money than all the other clubs put together when their stadium opened in 2006, as they didn’t. They actually had massive debts and a property market crash unexpectedly happened (which meant they didn’t make anywhere near as much from redeveloping Highbury as they had planned for and explains their initial caution). The first couple of seasons they couldn’t spend big due to this financial uncertainty (they were several hundred million in debt) in a period where Abramovich was financially doping Chelsea and they lost players like Henry and Cole.

They still have massive debt. They will be paying off their stadium till 2031.
I never said that straight after the stadium was built they had more money than the rest of the prem. I was answering a post that said that they couldn't spend for a decade after the stadium was built. I was pointing out that this wasn't true that they could spend and didn't and they built up a bank balance that was bigger than the rest of the pl combined.

Just to finish the day off, I'm hoping levy goes and sticks a 70m bid in for Zaha. Regardless of whether we want him or not.

The meltdown at Arsenal would be legendary.

Thankfully and hopefully Levy has no plans to build another stadium anywhere else!!

Arse mania :

Chelsea, Sp**s and ManU haven't really been better than us. Actually the opposite imo, it's still shocking we had this complete loss of confidence during our 8 game horror show at the end. Should've come 3rd.
( Find that a strange stance considering how Chelsea embarrassed them in the final)

Great deal for them. They acted quick and bought him credit to them

Scary signing , guy has been immense at all levels .
He is like vieira and petit In one .

I just hate everything really. Football can **** off.

Think NDombele has f*cked up here, believe the transfer market is trending away from blockbuster fees.

Having a short contract gives you complete control of your destiny, Sp**s as a club have shown no fear in letting players running down their contracts.

If he wants his move to a top club like a PSG or Real which he surely will he might have to wait until he’s 28.

Should’ve taken a smaller wage and backed himself

Sp**s wont challenge for anything while Pochetto is their manager. Loser of human being.

As I understood it the reason Arsenal had a load of accessible cash floating about (mysteriously called their treasure chest) was a condition of the banks, against the debts. The banks also required that Wenger be kept as manager during that time.

In my country there is a saying ..

"If Levy won't go to the mountain then the mountain must come to Tottenham"

Hence the NFL pitch in N17

seen it mentioned a few times about how they fucked up their last 8 games, don't think they realised we fucked up most of our last 12 to let them get a sniff, and we had players at the World Cup and an injury list all season. yes I know they had major probs with injuries to their defenders, but not sure they had any if many at the WC
